The fusion is explained by the Octonions that are extensions of the Complex numbers. The octonions represent Rotations of Rotations of Rotations (=Spirals) in 8D Space.

In chapter 0 called the Nilpotent Universe you will learn that our Universe is a (Turing)-Machine that is able to adapt its own programming Language by evaluating the Nilpotent constraint meaning that theSum of all Changes has to be Nil (“zero”, “empty”).

0. Introduction: The Nilpotent Universe

The Big Bang is an interpolation of the Expanding Universe to a theoretical Beginning. In Part 2 you will learn that there is a lot of doubt about this concept.

Peter uses the Octonions as a Number System that needs 8 dimensions (2**3). Peter proves that everything we know about the universe can be explained by the number 2 and 3 and their sum 5.

PoC contains 4 Points of View (PoV) called Unity (Blue, Rules, Thinking), Sensory (Sensory Meter System, Real Red), Social (Emotions, Green) and Mythic( Creation, View, Imagination), Yellow).

Time and Charge are Imaginary unless we use a Clock like the Earth rotating the Sun or the Polestar rotating with the Precession cycle.

Space is Real when we move on Earth using a Reference System that also could be the Stars and the Planets we can see with our personal Sensors. Mass is Real because we experience Mass as an Attraction of a bigger Mass (Earth) and sense the influence of the Moon in the rise of the Sea. Mass & Charge are Attractors and Not Attractors and are therefore related to the Emotions.

Mass & Charge are “Conserved” Physical quantities that remain constant with time are called conserved quantities. Example, for a body under external force, the kinetic and potential energy change over time but the total mechanical energy (kinetic + potential) remains constant. The appearance of a given amount of positive charge in one part of a system is always accompanied by the appearance of an equal amount of negative charge somewhere else in the system;

Mass & Charge contain a “negative” and a “positive” value we could define as “zero”. According to Peter the Universe is Nilpotent meaning that its sum is always zero. This implies that the (Sum of the) Beginning of the Universe was Zero too (Empty).

The mathematician Emily Noeter proved that every conservation can be translated in a special type of Symmetry (see Chapter 2).

Peter Rowlands The Universe is a universal Turing Machine that uses a rewrite system based on Chomsky’s theory of grammars. I believe the grammar is based on the the number 3, the Trinity.

A Big Transformation is Predicted by The Precession Cycle

There are many Cycles with different Periodicities. The longest Cycle known by the ancient Astrologers is the Precession Cycle with a cycle-time of 25800 years. The cycle runs retrograde, in de opposite direction as the Seasonal cycle and covers the twelf Constellations of the Zodiac. An age takes 25800/12= 2150 years.

A much shorter cycle is the Kondratiev with a periodicity of about 50 years. Currently we are moving from the Kondratiev Winter to the Kondratiev Spring a period in which many disruptions take place. After the Spring we will move into the Golden Age (Summer).

An Age takes (2150/50=43 Kondratiev-cycles.

43=3×13+4 = is called the Bronze Mean X(n+2) = 3*X(n+1) + X(n), and is a generalization of the Golden Mean.

13=1+3×4 (Zodiac=Sun in Center, Jesus + 12 Disciples)), (Square) 4= 1+3×1, which means that x0=1 (Point,Zero Emptiness, ).

43 is the number of the Sri Yantra

(3): It has active inference, It makes predictions about its own states and its environment from that environment’s effects on their Markov blanket.
(4) It is preservative, which means minimizing its internal entropy, maintaining homeostasis.

Perception involves the more central regions making predictions, which propagate toward the peripheral (sensory) regions. The peripheral regions compare the prediction with incoming sensory information and send back prediction error signals. This happens across numerous layers.

We see what we expect to see, with the incoming information forcing corrections.

Solms notes that a self evidencing system receiving information that violates its expectations can react in one of three ways.

  1. It can act to change conditions to bring the signals more in line with its expectations.
  2. It can change which representation(s) it’s currently using to make better predictions. This is perception.
  3. It can adjust the precision of the predictions to more optimally match the incoming signal.

In the Beginning

In Hinduism, a Kalpa. , a Cycle of a Universe, is equal to 4.32 billion years, called a day of Brahma . In Hinduism, Brahmā (Sanskrit: meaning “swelling” or “expansion”) is God in his manifestation as Creator of the universe. Brahmā is part of the Trimurti (the Hindu Trinity) alongside Vishnu and Shiva. Brahma lives on top of Mount Meru (look at the triangle on the head of Brahma) also called Pascal’s Triangle (see Chapter 9).

Symmetry

What is the relationship between symmetry and conservation laws. This has to do with the numbers you use for instance -1. When the rules contains a square 1**2 = (-1)**2 but also (i)**2=(-i)**2=-1.

Force

When we push all the shapes together they will become a Black wHole. What is able to create such a Force? What lies behind the Black Hole? The Nothing, Empty Space? Is Empty space Possible? Is the Sum of Things Zero or Infinite (8)?

How small do we have to go and what energy do we need to “see” gravity? Why is gravity very different from electro-magnetism and what have we learnt from the last few years? According to Einstein Gravity is a distortion (“curvature”) of Minkowski-Space-Time but the Universe seems to be outside time and is curved in a completely different opposite way called a Anti-DeSitter Space.
In this space we live on the surface that looks like a square (not a volume). We are framed in a Black Hole that is slowly evaporating ceating a new Universe that starts with a Big Bang that is not an explosion but a slow motion expansion until the limit is reached. It looks like Ancient Indian Cosmology is right.
Phase changes are related to the closeness of the parts. What happens when parts are closely packed. What phase is this? a Bose Einstein Condensensate? Is the Universe going through phases repeating the same pattern again and again?

It is possible to unite all the different theories of the universe by playing with the the Dimensions and geometry of space which could be flat or curved in a positive or negative way.

The explanation for the data we have gathered about the beginning is that there wwas no time in the beginning which is the same explanation as the conformal bootstrap above. A universe without time is infinite but not in space. An universe without time that is not infinite in space can only be explained by an infinite converging sequenc. This is called an Anti-de Sitter-Space, a space with almost zero curvature which looks like flat space.
About the Cyclic Universe. In the beginning the Universe was so chaotic (“hot”) that their was no mass so gravity was not existent. In every stage (Kalpa) of the Universe a new Big Bang occurs that repeats the beginning.

1 The Pragmatism of Charles Sanders Peirce

Writing chapter 12 has generated (as always) many issues I never thought about before. The major cause is Charles Sanders Peirce , (1839-1914) the “inventor” of Semiotics and the first Pragmatist in the Us. He believed that science is finished when the theories are working in Practice but also that the Laws and Constants of Nature are changing all the time.

 In this blog you wil find out that current science has moved far away from he path of converging because it lost its foundation. This foundation lies behind the imagination in the nothing.

After my encounter with Peirce I stumbled upon The theory of J. W.Dunne who experimented with predicting the Future and discovered Hyperspace.

Looking for Hyperspace gave the link to ANPA, an organization of scientists who try to understand the Paranormal. After that I rediscovered (New) Thinking Allowed (NTA), a YouTube-channel of Jeffrey Mislowe, a wellknown para-psychologist.

I (re)discovered NTA because I have always been interested in the paranormal because I was ” paranormal” since I was a child. Ghosts visited me when I was young and when I was older I became “enlightened” (“a terrifying experience”).

Looking for an interesting issue on NTA I rediscovered Alien Abductions and the Grays (our descendants out of the Future), an issue I also encountered when I met the medium Judith Moore. by accident. She helped me to understand what was happening to me after my Jump of my Kundalini that caused many strange effects. Through Judith I discovered that I was of the lineage of the Persian Magi.

As you can see this Blog grows by accident because I Explore (a connection between the Imagination and Action) every Possible paths just as Nature is doing.

Introduction in Semiotics

If we are to proceed in a logical and scientific manner; we must; in order to account for the whole universe; suppose an initial condition in which the wholeuniverse was non  existent; and therefore a state of absolute nothing:…We start; then; with nothing; pure zero: But this is not the nothing of negation: For not means other than; and other is merely a synonym of the ordinal numeral second: As such it implies a first; while the present pure zero is prior to even first: The nothing of negation is the nothing of death; which comes second to; or after; everything: But this pure zero is the nothing of not having been born: There isno individual thing; no compulsion outward nor inward; no law: It is the germinal nothing; in which the whole universe is involved or foreshadowed: As such; it is absolutely undefined and unlimited possibility  boundless possibility There is no compulsion and no law: It is boundless freedom:(Collected papers of S. Peirce, 1931)

This is a Very compact explanation of Semiotics. Peirce uses a model with 3 components that he calls first-ness (1), second ness (2) and thirdness(3).

1stness is the Senses, 2ndness are the Emotions (Social in PoC, the Other). They are a power, force, a resistance but also a Relation (Duality).
3rdness is the Mind (Unity in PoC), patterns, habits. Interesting is that Peirce forgets the Imagination which could be the influence of the Enlightenment.

When you look at he 2 pictures below who are taken out of the second link about Semiotics you can see that the Representamen is an intermediary beween the Duality of the Object (Event, Outside) and the Subject (Inside, Square, (Mind<-> Senses)<-> (Emotions<->Imagination).

Observe that it is possible to substitute the first picture in the second picture at he place of the Human. In this case the sequence becomes Nature->Object->Human-Interpretant ->Culture. You can extend the chain as long as you want by filling in new Trialities.

Peirce has produced an enormous amount of documents that still need a lot of specialized scientists to interpret what he meant.

It is very clear that Peirce used a “fractal” model without knowing what fractal (Recursive) meant.When you look at Paths of Change Peirce used connected triangels as you can see in the Path of the Human Hero a model of the MetaMyth.and the Trickster who plays the role of God always teasing and stimulating us to Explore and Create because we are the real Creators made in the image of God.

In the third picture below you see that the Triangel is a Connection of 3 Dualities.

The metamyth is a model that contains all the myths in every culture. This myth is defined by Joseph Campbell in his book The Hero with a thousand Faces.

Observe that it is possible to define more triangels when you connect Unity (Modelling) and Social (Values) or break open the four Squares who are connections of two Triangels. In this case the amount of Possible Paths explodes.

David Bohm, the successor of Albert Einstein came into contact with the Indian philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurti chosen by the Theosophical Society as the new Maitrea . They started to find out what lies behind Thinking what they called the Implicate Order. In this blog you will learn that the Implicate order is the Vacuum(“Empty Space”) sustained by our Imagination.

When you start to study Science you have to start with Rupert Sheldrake a scientist who came with a highly ignored theory that reality is influenced by the majority of the behavior of others. You can also explain this by believing that Structure is a Field and just as in Quantum Mechanics parts that are connected stay connected using “bridges” in space-time that are Magic to us just as Einstein called them “spooky action at a distance”1.

Predicting the Future by Observing the Observer in Hyperspace

in 1924 J.W. Dunne detected that he and his friends where able to look in the Future and the Past by moving into a state of Lucid Dreaming. He discovered that there are 3 levels of SpaceTime in which an observer is observing an observer that could be the same observer. The big problem, of this theory is called infinite regress. The Mathematics of Hyperspace

Louis H. Kaufmann About Spacetime Algebra. Sometimes Algebra starts with No Thing that could be not a thing but also be nothing or the void. By using a tautology A=B Kauffman develops numerical patterns that start with the beginning (void, nothing, zero) and move into infinity. 4 Infinite Games

This is Version 2. In this version I have finished the Educational part of this blog (Chapter 1) and I have started to write about the Geometry of Change. in chapter 12.

In this part I advice you to spend some time on a video of George Lakoff one of the Leading Scientists in Embodied Cognition . This part of Cognition Theory is based on the Fusion of Complementary concepts (“Bisocation“).

Will McWhinney gave me a book of J.P. Carse called Infinite Games. Infinite games are the opposite of the Finite Game that ends when somebody has won. The Infinite Game is a Game that Creates Games. It is the game of the Trickster. The same Dichotomy can be found in the difference between a Vocation and a Career. In a career (a Racetrack) you Win or Lose.

Artificial Intelligence

We are witnessing the birth of Artificial Intelligence (AI). AI has nothing to do with Intelligence. It is producing Artificial Humans that beat humans in many area’s (Chess, GO) but still not in Mathematics. Just like you’re calculator you have the choice to be dependent on a machine or to become an exception a human who is able to calculate by Head. Every new Technology makes us more dependent from this new technology (“the so called Automation Paradox)

This a Generator of Cycles where the Stages of the Cycle are determinated by Paths of Change The generator is a Fractal pattern. The (meta-)model behind the Generator is the Chinese Lo Shu (a 3×3 Magic Square) that turns into the Sheng Cycle when you connect the points.
The Cycle Generator applied on Technology shows that we are approaching a new Era in which we will see a Global Brain emerging.

6 Foundations

Symmetry

This is one of the most interesting documents about the Foundations of Physics and Mathematics I have read for a very long time. It shows what I already wrote down a few years ago about Geometric Algebra that the Number system opens up new number systems when to want to Reverse what you did.

The Positive numbers end by zero and move over to the negative numbers. When you standardize repeating adding and call it multiply dividing ends when you reach zero. Repeating multiplying generates the square roots that end with the negative numbers generating the Imaginary numbers (i=SqRT-1) but this is not the end. Generalizing the imaginary numbers (the Quaternions) created numbers nobody understood until it was found that they are Rotations in N-Dimensional Space.

Peter Rowland surprises by showing that the symmetries in the symmetries show the Implicate Order of David Bohm and more important that zero (“truly empty) is the Beginning (“alpha”) and the end (“omega”). Which means that the universe is always in balance.

Duality & Polarity

If a statement is true its Negation is also true. In geometry Points also called incidents are lines that Meet and Lines are unions of Points. A point is not-Space and is empty and Flat space is a union of lines. True Statements can be rephrased with different components that create new truths about existing components. The next step is Category Theory in which you can reason with theories (called Functors) as objects called Types.

An Alternative view on the reason why there is Dark Matter based on the theory of Peter Rowland. Rowlands asserts that physics and mathematics are even more intertwined than we commonly believe, and that quaternions together with the assumption that zero is the natural start and end state of all physical reality is enough to derive all of quantum mechanics including Dirac’s and Schrödinger’s equations.

In 1972, Frank Wilczek was 21 years old. He and his thesis adviser, David Gross, discovered the basic theory of the strong force — the final pillar of the Standard Model of particle physics. Their work revealed the strange alchemy at work inside the nucleus of an atom. It also turned out to underpin almost all subsequent research into the early universe. Wilczek and Gross went on to share the 2004 Nobel Prize in Physics for the work. Frank wrote a new book about Complementarity which looks a lot like duality and polarity. Deep below the universe two forces are creating a subtile equilibrium in which energy is given and taken.
Frank Wilczek explains Physics with the help of the same insights of Maxwell who detected the Electromagnetic Field. Maxwell used a model based on the 3 colors we use to make all the colors we see by mixing and adding intensity. Frank shows that Physics can be explained by so called property-fields in which complementary forces combine to make other complementary forces that keep Balance. Stangely enough this is the same as the model of Panarchy that describes an ecology. Is the Universe an Ecology of different shapes?
Time crystals
A Time-Chrystal When time crystals were first proposed in 2012 by physicist Frank Wilczek they seemed like an exotic consequence of quantum mechanics in systems of many interacting particles. Wilczek argued that such systems broke symmetry in time, changing so as to return periodically to the same state just as ordinary crystals exhibit periodicity in space.
Subsequent experimental work has found that quantum time crystals can exist in systems maintained out of equilibrium by some driving force. Now Norman Yao of the University of California at Berkeley and colleagues suggest that time crystals can arise without the need for quantum physics at all.

Contradiction

Gregg Zuckerman About the Mathematics of Consciousness based on Non-russell Sets. Consciousness is based on Contradiction.
Alan Fiske has developed a widely accepted and used theory about how people coordinate and cooperate. This theory is compatible with Paths of Change. The theory is also compatible with the results (see chapter 8) of Measurement theory where the types of measurement are called Scales. Scales can be related to Geometries. In the blog I start with explaining geometries and move in Chapter 12 to the field of change Management where I Apply the Geometries.
When I studied Mathematics I found the Dutch Mathematician Brouwer who believed what I now still believe and George Lakoff later proved that you have to See Mathematics otherwise it is wrong.

History of this Blog

The reason behind this blog is explained in the last chapter of my blog About the Ecology of the State.

In the blog about the Ecology of the State I reused a blog about Anti-Fragility, a new name for Resilience. Resilience is a major variable in the theory of Panarchy which is a theory about Ecologies.

I combined Panarchy with Paths of Change also a Theory about change and the theory of Alan Fiske about Human relationships. This combination gave me the insight that there is a shared Geometry behind many of the theories tabout Change.

This blog gives you an opportunity to combine the theories yourself. I also will show you that this geometry was known for a very long time ago mainly starting in India (See “Vedic Mathematics“). In the interpretation of the Theory of Alan Fiske the Scales of Measurement play an important role. I have created a special Chapter 8. for this subject.

In this blog I want to explore the Geometry of Change. To make it possible that others are also able to think about Geometries this blog contains many Educational Videos’.

7 Geometry

As you can see in this Chapter Geometry is very old. It was the Foundation of Art, Architecture , the State and Religion. People have been fascinated by Patterns like the visible patterns Up in the Sky of the Sun, Moon Planets and the Zodiac but also the patterns in numbers. Out of Geometry many sciences have grown that were grouped in schools sometimes called a University. Behind he patterns music was found and music was also created using patterns. The most important Music was the Music of the Spheres . This chapter is Big. It contains many Video’s that contain simulations. The main reason is that you have to See (“insight”) the Theory to understand the Practice.

How Physics, Movement, Symbols and Sound are supported by Geometry

Richard Feynman was able to recreate every theory at will and was therefore able to explain what the theory was about. His lectures are famous. This is a recontruction with a Simulation of his Last Lecture. It is a lecture about Geometry. Below you see a comparable lecture about a comparable genius Riemann who lived a short life but was able just as Feynman to see (Imagine) a lot. This shows the Power of Mathematics. It is not about Reasoning but about Insight. That’s why I have selected many video’s and will find more. Enjoy.
Why the Prime Numbers lie on a line but nobody knows why. A nice present of Quanta Magazine. about the Hypothesis of Riemann. Riemann comes back later when he solves another problem, the problem why geometries are different. He proved that this has to with the Curvature of space. Something you see below when you see the solution of Einstein to the problem of Gravity solved before that time by Newton who stole it from Leibniz, one of the last Magicians before the Golden Dawn (see video below about Mystic Geometry.) Einstein got the solution for his problem of his friend the Mathematician Minkowski.

The role of Higher Dimensions in Physics and Mathematics. It started with Albert Einstein. He used a new 4D curved geometry to explain gravity. Kaluza found that Gravity and Electro-magnetism could be united by adding an extra 5th Dimension. This solution was improved by Oscar Klein by introducing Imaginary (2D) numbers . This solution transformed much later into 10 dimensional (vibrating) String /theory to integrate quantum mechanics, . As you can see in the next video the extra dimensions are put into a Very Small Closed in itself (“circular”) area in Space.

The Physicist Sean Carrol About Geometry and Topology in particular Riemannian non-Euclidean geometry, and topological invariants called “Homotopy groups.

The geometry of our space has zero curvature. In spaces with positive or negative curvature other rules are valid. George Bernhard Riemann developed a new geometrical concept by imagining a 2-dimensional bookworm living on a 3D crumpled sheet of paper.

The surface of the paper would seem to be flat and undistorted. Because the worm can only perceive two dimensions it would not be able to detect that his own body crumples with the paper in the higher dimension. The “force” that would keep the bookworm from moving in a straight line was not a mysterious “action at a distance”, but a result of the unseen warping from the third dimension.

You can imagine a similar experience by walking a straight line on a rotating platform. To you the shortest connection is a straight line while you move with a curve when observed by someone outside the platform. The geometry changes the idea that the shortest distance between two points is a straight line.

It even changes the idea that we return on the same point when we move in a loop (“circle”). This happens when our space contains one or more holes (“singularities”, “dividing by zero”).

With this example you can learn that it makes a lot of Difference when you are In (Intrinsic) or Outside (Extrinsic) the Context.

8 Theory of Measurement

Measurements can be made through the human Senses or through the use of a measurement Instruments.

Measurement is the assignment of Numerals to a system according to a set of rules.  These rules are called a Theory.

Our senses or the instruments that are used to measure the system also represent a theory. This theory has a sometimes unknown impact on our measurement.

To avoid the Bias of the Theory behind our Measurement Systems a theory has to be a Structure Preserving mapping, a homomorphism. The Structure of the system has to stay the same when the rules are applied.

If the theory does not preserve structure the theory introduces its own theory and we are not measuring the original system.

Not only the primary theory has to be a homomorphism. The complete chain of theories we use has to preserve the structure (The Uniqueness Axioma) of the original system.

To avoid Bias a System of Measurement Scales is defined.

The Hierarchy of Measurement Scales. Observe that the scales are Nested.THis means that every scale is Part of a “higher” scale and all the constraints have to be valid on a higher level. This means that C4 contains C3 etc.

a Nominal Scale defines Sets. Sets contain the Same elements. When we want to preserve structure  we have to satisfy the constraint If s1 = s2 ⇔ f(s1) = f(s2) (“the Same stays the Same”). This is called the Symmetric group, the group of all Permutations of the objects in the Set.

The Ordinal Scale is part of the nominal scale. The relational structure preserved during the measurement process preserves equality and order. The set of admissible transformations are relations that satisfy the constraint If s1 < or >s2 ⇔ f(s1) < or >f(s2). This is called the Order-Preserving Group and is the group of monotonic increasing functions.

The Interval Scale has to satisfy the constraint  If s1−s2 = s3−s4 ⇔ f(s1)−f(s2)=f(s3)−f(s4).This is called the General Linear Group (or Affine Group).  Differences can only be preserved when the transformation is a Linear transformation Ax + B where A is a Rotation and B is Translation (Displacement).

The Ratio Scale has to satisfy the constraint If s1/s2 = s3/s4 ⇔ f(s1)/f(s2) = f(s3)/f(s4). This is called the Linear Group.The only transformation that satisfies this constraint is the functions f(x) = Ax. This means that the only tranasformation that is left is muliplication and division (“not by zero!). which is transl;lated in Expansion and Compression the object of Topology.

Geometry, the Art of Transformation Size, Shape and Symmetry.


Figures shown in the same color are similar. A similar structure can be transformed by Rotation, Translation (Displacement) and Scaling (Multiplication), “blow up/down”).

Groups can be compared to numbers. Just like the primes the Simple Groups can be used to create other groups. The Biggest group is called the Monster.

Projective Geometry is about Perspective and the projective plane, the space of one-dimensional subspaces of a three dimensional vector space (lines through the origin). This view leads to Hyperbolic and Eliptic Geometry finally framed in the language of Geometric Algebra . Affine geometry is the “world” of Linear Algebra and Vector Spaces leading to Euclidean and Einstein’s (Minkovski) ,Relativistic geometry.

With Geometric Algebra you can Calculate with Shapes. Geometric algebra is a very convenient representational and computational system for geometry. It is going to be the way computer science deals with geometrical issues. It contains, in a fully integrated manner, linear algebra, vector calculus, differential geometry, complex numbers and quaternions as real geometric entities, and lots more.

Geometric Algebra brings us back to the Tetractys of Pythagoras which shows the Fourth triangular number which is part of the Triangle of Pascal.also called the Yang Hui in China and Mount Meru in Sanskrit. The Triangle of Pascal contains many Fractal structures that were used a very long time ago in Music (Rythms), Art & Architecture (Proportions) and Numerology (“The Art of interpreting Patterns in Numbers).

9 Mount Meru

Realize that the 3D version of Panarchy is also a 3D version of the Movement of the Relational Models of Alan Fiske and their related Geometries in Cognitive Space and the movement of many Concepts that share the same Worldviews of Path of Change.

Also Realize that Panarchy is a result of a theory (Cultural Theory) that is based on the same Worldviews of PoC and of Alan Fiske that can be explained by a 2×2 Matrix containing the variables Agency and Communion that are the same as Yin and Yang.

Agency and Communion also determine the Big Five the most used Personality Classification (and many others)

Yin and Yang are also represented by 0 and 1 and therefore the Triangle of Pascal represents the many combinations of possible personalities on earth but is also a result of a completely different System (Geometries) to calculate Combinations. Think about (X>Y)**n (Affine) or (X-Y)**n (Euclidian) as an example (X>Y)**n is a Program (“Protocol”) to n times create all the possible combinations of X>Y.

It is therefore also not strange to call the total process of the movement of Expansion (Yin) and Compression (Yang) in space the Cosmic Breath named the Svara in Sanskrit. Svara स्वर (svara and svāra): Voice, musical note, sound; note of the musical scale, tone in recitation, accent in grammar, symbolic expression.

Ma’at weights the Heart (“the center”) with her feather which carries the symbol of the nothing (“the empty set”). When the Heart weights light as a feather the human was balanced in the Heart Chakra meaning that he lived a “Good Life” and was allowed to enter Heaven. Observe that the Heart is the Controller of the Upper (Head) and the Lower (Body) Cycle of Blood (“=Life“). Observe that the human is represented by an Ape with the moon of Thot on his head.

11 About Perspectives and Projective Geometry

As you can see in the picture above PG makes use of drawing Lines that connect the Point of the Eye (the Sensor) with the \Planes and Points of the Object of the Drawing. Observe that the object is a Sphere. and that the two lines connect with the sphere at the Horizon which is a line we often confuse with Infinity(“the point we will never reach”).. Also observe that the rear-end of the Sphere is invisible.

The pole of the Sphere can be connected to Parallel Lines that Never Cross. The lines connected to the eye of the artist and the Pole always have an Angle>0.

PG Connects many Points(“people”) by Lines (“Connectors“) and is there fore highly comparable with Communal Sharing of Fiske and Social of PoC.

Alberti was the first to ask what two pictures have in common if two drawing screens (Planes) are interposed between the viewer and the object, and the object is projected onto both resulting in two different pictures of the same scene. Leone Battista Alberti (1404-72) was the writer of the irst treatise, about Perspective  Della pittura (1435). The solution to this problem was found in 1803 by  Lazare Carnot
In his book “Géométrie de Position” he proved that the so called Cross-Ratio is always preserved in a Projection with One Point of View.
The Cross-Ratio is the Ratio of the Ratio of the Four Points A,B,C,D lying on a Line that intersects the Four Lines defined by a,b,c,d that orginate at the Vanishing Point O. Carnot proved that (AB)(CD)/(AC)(BD) = (A′B′)(C′D′)/(A′C′)(B′D′).

About 4D Space and Quaternions : Quaternions are the Imaginary Numbers (x, i,j,k) of 4 D Space. The Imaginary Numbers are Rotations in 3D space (x,i) . This video gives you a way to train your 4D-view by starting in Flatland being an imaginary world in 2D. A Line is a projection of a Circle that starts at Infinity which is a point at the North Pole of the Sphere.

In 1872 Felix Klein, published a new Mathematical Research Program called the Erlangen Program under the title Vergleichende Betrachtungen über neuere geometrische Forschungen.

In this program Projective Geometry was emphasized as the Unifying Frame for all other Geometries.

Although lines in the Projective Plane meet in one point of Infinity Klein argued that there could be two points of Infinity if the Projective Plane was a Surface Closed in Itself.

When we look at the Origin of Projective Geometry, the Artist painting A Sphere, Earth, on a Flat Surface, it is not difficult to realize that this Closed Surface is a Sphere. This sphere is projected on a plane that contains the imaginary numbers that are solutions of the cross-ratio when the 4 points 𝐴𝐵𝐶𝐷 are not on a circle.

COnformal mappings are mappings that preserve angles. This video shows why the cross ratio is complex when the points are not on a circle.

The engineering method COLLIN Looks like Paths of Change.
This is a >4 times Expansion of Paths of Change with the Human in the Middle and the Four types of humans that surround him/her.
Here you see four types of Social Networks with a Production and Sales Cycle moving With- and Against the clock.
The four Communities correspond with the four Relationship types of Alan Fiske.
Remember that the four Relationships are related to four types of Geometries. This was proven by relating the Relationships to Scales of Measurement.
Measurement theory (Chapter 2) is based on the idea that measurement has to be based on Structure-preserving maps from the outside (what we think we see with our senses) to the inside (what we see with our imagination which is related to an inner sensor (“the third eye”) which is the Pineal Gland).

Observe that explain means making something plane (flat) which is a projection from Knowledge (Affine Geometry) to the (flat) Image of the Imagination (Similarity Geometry).

What target (Goal (Plan) ) do you want to hit? Realize that the energy for the projection comes out of the fusion of Complementary (Different) concepts. What is different? Not-the same. Not is a Negation.

Humans (We = I (Sensory) and/or The Other(s, Social) Exchange our models being personal interpretations of the Natural Systems we sense or are part in.
This exchange can take place using a “communication-model” being the Conduit Metaphor (we exchange containers) or the Toolmaker Metaphor in which we exchange our experiences about using the models.
We are an organism and we communicate using the expiriences of our outer or inner body. In t he last part we are specialized and therefore talented to experience our Inner Eye or we get insights without knowing how.
Cybersemiotics uses the Semiotics of Peirce. Peirce uses a “simple” model in which he uses 3 Stages in te proces of Meaning, The Sign , the “cause” of the Sign and the Interpretation of the Sign in the Mind.

For the first one explore this blog about Meta-Engineering. As you will see is that the presentation tells a comparable story as Chapter 2 about measurement in the way that it explains that a model is a mapping from something we experience outside with our senses (A natural system) or with our instruments and we have to make a structure preserving mapping to avoid that we introduce a bias with our measurement instruments.

Observe that the cycles move with and against the clock creating the well known Moebius Ring (8). This model maps on the Indian Model of the Chakra’s and the Chinese Median Points. A picture out of my Blog about a new Ecology of the State that unites Panarchy, ALan Fiske and Paths of Change. It is an application of the Geometries. The most important Worldview is Yellow and was called Mythic by Will McWhinney in his book Paths of Change.
Mythic relates to Intuitive in the myers Briggs Model: “Intuitive people live in the future and are immersed in the world of Possibilities. They process information through patterns and impressions. Intuitive people value inspiration and imagination. They gather knowledge by reading between the lines. Their abstract nature attracts them toward deep ideas and concepts”

The first thing you have to realize is that you have been looking at pictures that describe the same subject with different names. All of them are about Change and Change looks like Breathing <-.-> (Contract/Expand). Below you see the Expansion Pattern of “nothing”/. This pattern is controlled by the Trinity, the number 3 and the Triangel. This pattern is called the Bronze Mean. It is a specialization of the Golden mean. The bronze mean contains a very important number 43.

The center is the Empty set (Yellow), the Nothing, the Foundation of creativity. Desire (Female) and Control (Male) create a child (Communion) Left you see Adam Kadmon the first Human and the Tree of Knowledge.
By playing with the Arrows (->) Expansion (Red) and Compression (Blue) are reproduced. The other 2 combinations create The Emotions (Green) and Creativity (Yellow).

The first picture of this paragraph contains a Cycle connected to another Cycle where both cycles move in opposite direction showing the well known Moebius Ring (8). The model contains a center that contains the model of the whole. This is called a fractal. When you compare this model with other models look at the colors. I have used the same colors of PoC all the time.

13 About Affine Geometry, Maps, Metaphors and Mappings

In the model of the Geometry of Change you see that Blue, named Unity in PoC and Knowledge in other models is called an Affine Geometry and is connected the concept Rank and the Constraint If s1 < or >s2 ⇔ f(s1) < or >f(s2) which is called the Order-Preserving Group. Knowledge is an Order but what order?

The solution to this puzzle can be found at the beginning of this blog where you read the sentence “The role of Higher Dimensions in Physics and Mathematics”. The concept Dimension is used to define a Ranking of Spaces.

Basic spatial dimension
Higher Dimensions are represented as Projections on a Plane. This 2D plane could be called a Scape (taken out of out of Land-scape).
George Lackoff researched the brain and detected that the Brain is based on the Body (“Embodiment”). When we are young we learn that it is difficult to learn to find balance to stand right up and to move. Thats why Up (Higher) is better dan Lower (Down). Thats why Heaven is Up and Hell is Down. Thats why a Tree is a Symbol of Knowledge. George also discovered that we always make represent ations of what we think. When we try to represent an abstract concept we use a prototype (one out of the set). He also found out that Our brain uses Frames to interact with the outside world: About Framing. This is also the subject of Goffman.

14 About Euclidian Geometry, Distance and the Horizon

In the picture above you see the Horizon. Horizon is related to Horizontal, a line that is perpendicular to a line that moves from Up to Down or Back. the horizon is an Illusion because we live on a Globe. Behind the Horizon we see nothing but we know that there is something behind the Horizon. In our Perspective the Horizon is the place where parallel lines Cross. The word horizon derives from the Greek “ὁρίζων κύκλος” horizōn kyklos, “separating circle”,[3] where “ὁρίζων” is from the verb ὁρίζω horizō, “to divide”, “to separate”,[4] which in turn derives from “ὅρος” (oros), “boundary, landmark. The horizon is a symbol for infinity (“the place we never will reach” but also something we can find wen we keep on moving at the right direction.

Below you see a picture and a presentation of Kent Palmer. He found out that the term Scape (Schap in Dutch) we use in Landscape is used to imagine a “flat plane” . In dutch and english scape is also translated into ship (“Friendship, vriendschap) being a relationship that carries as a tray, something to hold something.

Perspectives are about seeing something but seeing is used as an insight. We look at our personal frame.

A Few years ago I gave a presentation about Context to Software-architects about Mikhail Bahktin: The Wordwide Carnival: A Short Introduction into the World of Mikhail Bakhtin. He was a Russian Philosopher that was put into a Goelag-camp by stalin. He was an expert in Dialog and what he called the Chronotope: “The place where the knots of narrative are tied” or “the intrinsic connectedness of temporal and spatial relationships”.

Ik heb rond 2010 op verzoek van IBM Labs meegewerkt aan de introductie van Watson in Nederland.

De presentatie die in deze blog wordt toegelicht heb ik gemaakt voor het Management van Parnassia, een grote organisatie in de GGZ.

Dit is een Powerpoint-presentatie uit 2011 gemaakt om te laten zien hoe slimme hulpmiddelen zoals semantic mining, sensors en proces-management  kan helpen om de processen in de gezondheidszorg te ondersteunen.

Er wordt gebruik gemaakt van Paths of Change (PoC) van Will McWhinney om het gebied in kaart te brengen.

Dit gebeurt stap voor stap waarbij er iedere keer een nieuwe (medische) functie wordt toegevoegd.

Aan het einde van de presentatie worden alle stappen samengevoegd in een Gezondheidsarchitectuur die zowel voor de lichamelijke als de geestelijke gezondheidszorg bruikbaar is.

Paths of Change past op Interpersonal Theory een psychologische theorie die de mens beschouwd als een interne en externe relatie.

Diagnose is een verband tussen waarnemen (Zintuigen (Sensors), Ervaring)  en waarheid (Kennis). Op basis van de diagnose kun je acties ondernemen die allemaal passen op de algemene verbanden (de “paden”) in Paths of Change. De paden worden in het vervolg verder uitgewerkt.

Dit plaatje is bedoeld om de plek van Watson te introduceren. Watson maakt gebruik van Kennisbanken (een verzameling “waarheden”). Watson is toegespitst op de denkwijze van de specialist. De software doet een specialist na en geeft antwoorden op gestelde vragen.

Dit plaatje bevat een samenvatting van de werkwijze van Watson die door IBM DeepQA wordt genoemd. (QA staat voor Questions/Answers).

In de Diagnostiek worden de volgende aspecten van de Mens meegenomen.

Het is mogelijk om Watson (of een ander Semantisch Mining-tool) automatisch te koppelen aan een Proces-Bibliotheek waardoor er een Behandelplan kan worden gemaakt.

Aangezien er statistische methoden worden gebruikt ontbreekt vaak een menselijke verklaring van de uitkomst. Als het diagnose-hulpmiddel moet aansluiten bij een menselijke expert is dit van belang.

Het behandelplan kan worden gekoppeld aan een database met behandelaars.

en een netwerk met Ervaringsdeskundigen.

Op basis van (diepte)interviews met Ervaringsdeskundigen kan een levensloop-simulator worden gebouwd.

Een groot aantal (zo niet alle) meetinstrumenten van de arts kan worden vervangen door (draagbare) sensors, waardoor er als dat nodig is real-time kan worden gemeten.

Het plaatje geeft een globaal beeld aan van de ontwikkeling van de technologie de komende tien jaar.

De ontwikkelingen in de Medische Wetenschap kwamen in eerste instantie uit verbeterde diagnose (bijv. Rontgen etc) en verbeterde Chemische technologie (BioChemie, Farmacologie). Op dit moment is de BioPhysica aan de leiding. Die ziet de mens als een “Bio(Veld (Biofield). Chemische geneesmiddelen kunnen nu ook worden omgezet in velden.

Duidelijk mag zijn dat E/M-velden kunnen genezen maar ook ziekte kunnen veroorzaken (m.n. Immuunsysteem).

De kern van dit document is in 1993 geschreven na het uitkomen van het boek Paths of Change van Will McWhinney.

Het is daarna gebruikt om een nieuwe (meer sociale) strategie voor de ABN AMRO te ontwikkelen. Het is later gebruikt als discussie-stuk toen er sprake was van het oprichten van een coordinerend Centrum voor Vitaliteit in Regio Leiden (Project 071).

Het centrum was bedoeld om lokale centra op te richten waarbij er aandacht werd besteed aan de samenhang tussen de geestelijke, lichamelijke, sociale en economische gezondheid van de mens in alle levensfasen.

Een Bank Typologie. Tot aan het begin van 19de eeuw heeft het bankwezen zich vooral geconcentreerd op vermogende bedrijven en de vermogende burger (i.h.a. ondernemers). De banken waren handelsbanken. Rond 1900 kwamen drie nieuwe bankvormen naar voren die zich gingen richten op de minder draagkrachtige (Giro & Postspaarbank, de Standaardbank), het Collectief (Raiffeisen, de Relatiebank) en het verstrekken van consumptief krediet  (Pandjesbaas, Bank van Lening, de Consumptiebank). Deze laatste functie wordt nu vrijwel overal uitgeoefend door de Retail (Kopen op afbetaling).

Als laatste is een deel gebruikt als discussiestuk voor een Smart City-beleid in Den Haag (SUS: Smart Urban Space). Hier werd aangetoond dat Smart City niet alleen een besturingsmodel is maar dat net als bij de Vitaliteit het lichamelijke, het sociale en het creatieve van de mens een rol moet spelen in het “slim” aanwenden van Smart Technologie.

Het model van SUS (Smart Urban Space). Het bevat vier lagen (1) de Urban Space waar de inwoners voorzien van een Persoonlijkheid gebaseerd op PoC de ruimte hebben (2) De Sociale netwerken in de stad die volgens PoC zijn ingedeeld waarbij 1 netwerk (de community of Practice) zich toont als een bedrijf (3) Een waardeketen gebaseerd op PoC en (4) een Bestuur waarbij wederom PoC wordt gebruikt en waar duidelijk wordt dat Democratie een proces is waarin Geel (Visie, Creativiteit,) een grote rol speelt. Aan de rechterkant staat weer een PoC-cycles waardoor het duidelijk wordt dat er hier sprake is van PoC X PoC.
Een slimme stad is een combinatie van vier soorten steden met een monitor in het centrum. De viersoorten zijn de vier wereldbeelden van Paths of Change.

Een stad, “een verzameling verbonden mensen, is net als de mens zelf een organisme en is op zoek naar zelf-ontplooing, datgene wat in de genen al aanwezig is.

Het document is gebaseerd op de verander-methodiek Paths of Change (PoC) van Will McWhinney. De wereldbeelden van PoC hebben in dit document overal dezelfde kleuren: Blauw/Unity/Regels/Waarheid, Rood/Sensory/Waarnemen, Groen/Sociaal/Waarderen en Geel/Mythic/Verbeelden.

PoC maakt het mogelijk om met behulp van steeds hetzelfde model heel verschillende vraagstukken op te lossen zoals het inrichten van een Community of Practice.

PoCkan ook worden gebruikt om Geestelijke Problemen in kaart te brengen met behulp van de Interpersonal Theory.

Op dit moment heeft de bank de wijk verlaten en wordt de klant geacht gebruik te maken van geldautomaten en het Internet. Om dit waar te kunnen maken zijn de bankproducten gestandaardiseerd waardoor het autorisatieproces vrijwel automatisch en dus context-onafhankelijk plaatsvindt. Bankieren is niet meer een klantgedreven maar een datagedreven proces geworden.

Inmiddels is de overheid bezig om een groot deel van zijn sociale taken met aanmerkelijk minder geld over te dragen aan de stad die ze wijkgebonden maakt. De sociale taken van de overheid moeten dichter bij de burger worden gebracht en worden ondergebracht in een wijkcentrum of een winkelcentrum.

De traditionele kerken in Nederland krimpen omdat hun leden ouder worden en overlijden. Het diaconaat binnen de kerken houdt zich in zijn regio, meestal wijkgebonden, bezig met eenzamen, armen, zieken, werklozen en andere medemensen die een moeilijke tijd in hun leven doormaken. Door de krimpende kerk wordt de onbaatzuchtige hulp aan de medemens steeds minder.

Uit het diaconaat zijn vele organisaties ontstaan die dreven op giften, subsidies en vrijwilligers. Sommige van die organisaties, zoals ziekenhuizen en  de ontwikkelingshulp zijn sterk geprofessionaliseerd en hebben zich van hun wortels losgemaakt. Ze worden nog steeds grotendeels uit het overheidsbudget bekostigd.

De bijdragen uit het overheidsbudget die richting deze organisaties gaan worden minder en moeten volgens de overheid net als vroeger worden gecompenseerd door sociaal ondernemerschap, giften en de inzet van vrijwilligers.

Om hun hoge vaste lasten te kunnen dragen moeten de meeste partners beiden werken waardoor ze weinig tijd over hebben voor kinderen en hun oudere ouders. De zorg voor de kinderen wordt overgelaten aan de kinderopvang en de school.

De zorg voor de ouderen is uitbesteed aan de gezondheidszorg. Ook hier lopen de budgetten terug en moet de burger zich als mantelzorger gaan inzetten voor zijn zieke familie, vrienden en buurtgenoten.

De zowel qua inzet als financiering krimpende sociale hulpverleningssystemen zijn in deze tijd van crisis juist meer nodig dan in de tijd van hoogconjunctuur.

De enige manier om dit probleem op te lossen is door een totaal nieuwe weg in te slaan. Die weg kan gevonden worden door moderne technologie te koppelen met medemenselijkheid.

2. Introductie Paths of Change): De Mens is een Relatie

Paths of Change ontwikkeld door Will McWhinney rond 1980 blijkt relaties te hebben met hele oude inzichten die allemaal zijn gebaseerd op de vierdeling die eigenlijk een 2×2 (x2,..)deling is die begint met de Dualiteit Contractie (versimpelen, inpakken) en Expansie )complex maken, uitpakken), die samen werden vergeleken met het proces van Ademhalen.

Het Model van Walter Russell

We beginnen bij de mens zelf. Een mens wordt gekarakteriseerd door zijn persoonlijkheid. Die persoonlijkheid is een combinatie van drie kenmerken, n.l.

(1) Richting Rotatie: Introvert/naar Binnen gericht, Linksdraaiend (<-) vs Extravert/naar Buiten, Rechtsdraaiend  (->) gericht

(2) Afstand: Geheel/Observator Boven de Wereld vs Deel/Ervaren In de Wereld en

(3) Psychische Functie: De psychische functie wordt beschreven door twee variabelen die Agency (Besturing) en Communion (Verbinding) worden genoemd.

Ze vormen samen vier functies die ieder een andere richting op bewegen (bv. Geest, Naar Boven, Abstractie of Ziel, Naar beneden, Depressie, Aarde) en samen een richtingsvector bepalen die de mens als staande golf door de Tijd/Ruimte stuurt.

De persoonlijkheid van de  mens is een relatie tussen deze twee functies in combinatie met de Draairichting en de Afstand.

De functies worden Geest/Ordenen/Waarheid, Lichaam/Waarnemen/Handelen (Sensory Motor Systeem), Spirit/Verbeelden en  Ziel/Emoties/Waarderen/Samen, genoemd. Een combinatie tussen Verbeelding en Ordenen wordt een ontwerper genoemd.

Als er twee gelijke functies worden gekoppeld is de mens psychopathologisch. Het ordenen van het ordenen wordt bijvoorbeeld Paranoïde genoemd.

John Holland ontdekte dat de persoonlijkheid sterk voorspellend is voor het beroep. Daardoor kunnen we met behulp van bovenstaand persoonlijkheidsinstrumentarium ook veel zeggen over bedrijfsculturen.

Met als mogelijke verklaring dat mensen de geschiedenis maken blijkt het ook mogelijk te zijn om het model van de persoonlijkheid te gebruiken om korte en lange cycli te beschrijven en te voorspellen.

3.  De Mens in Crisis

A model of the theory developed by psychiatrist Elisabeth KüblerRoss suggests that we go through five distinct stages of grief after the loss of a loved one: Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and finally acceptance.

De Life Event Scale van Holmes bevat de gebeurtenissen die de meeste invloed hebben op de mens. Deze gebeurtenissen kunnen meerdere van de psychische functies raken.

De psychische functies van de mens zijn tegendelen die elkaar aantrekken en afstoten. Het persoonlijkheidssysteem van de mens fluctueert daarom rondom een evenwichtspunt, het set-point genoemd. De krachten die tussen de verschillende onderdelen spelen en daarmee de bandbreedte van de golven zijn per mens verschillend. Sommige mensen (Kinderen, Ouderen, Zieken) zijn kwetsbaar.

Als een gebeurtenis een te hoge schok veroorzaakt reageert de mens in eerste instantie niet (freeze). Daarna volgt ontkenning en agressie (fight). Na een depressie begint men om de nieuwe situatie weer te waarderen, te exploreren en te accepteren.

De traumatische fase kan bij kwetsbare mensen vele jaren duren. In deze periode is men niet in staat tot productieve arbeid. Het is de kunst om extreme gebeurtenissen en de negatieve effecten daarop te voorkomen of te verhelpen. Dit kan gebeuren door therapie en verzekeren.

4. Sociale Netwerken zijn soms Sociaal

Mensen zoeken vergelijkbare mensen op en vergelijkbare mensen hebben vergelijkbare persoonlijkheden.

Aangezien persoonlijkheden erfelijk zijn vindt de meest voor de hand liggende koppeling plaats met familie en andere mensen die sterk (genetisch) op elkaar lijken. Dit wordt een Community of Affinity genoemd. De leden van Facebook vormen een dergelijk netwerk.

Linkedin is een hulpmiddel waar mensen hun interesses en inzichten delen (Community of Interest) en Wikipedia bevat gedeelde kennis (Kenniscentrum).

Ervaring ontstaat als mensen een fout maken en van deze fout leren. Een fout is een afwijking van een verwachtingspatroon. Een succesvolle vorm van ervaringsdelen is de zelfhulp-groep.

De sensory-motor component van de mens is expansief en is het complement (het tegendeel) van de ordelijke kant.

Terwijl de ordenende component steeds comprimeert (analyse) en daarmee de werkelijkheid versimpelt ontstaan er steeds weer nieuwe vormen van praktisch toegepast handelen die de werkelijkheid complexer maken. Netwerken waar ervaring wordt gedeeld worden een Community of Practice genoemd.

Als we naar de persoonlijkheidstheorie kijken zien we dat de deelnemers aan een Community of Affinity en een Community of Practice samenwerken terwijl ze in de andere netwerken als individu optreden.

Het concept van de coöperatie past perfect bij de sociale sociale netwerken.

De Communities of Practice leven niet lang. Het zijn veel meer tijdelijke projectorganisaties die na het behalen van hun doel weer worden ontbonden of worden overgedragen aan een producent.

5. Van Hulp naar Levensloopbegeleiding

Het leven is een introvert (“naar binnen gericht”) proces en begint en eindigt in een staat van volledige afhankelijkheid (Low Agency, High Communion, Wij).

In de eerste fase van de levensloop vindt het proces van socialisatie plaats,  eerst in de context van de ouders en later in de eigen groep (de cultuur).

In de pubertijd neemt de behoefte om zich los te maken van ouders en familie toe (Agency,Ze) en richt men zich vooral op gelijksoortigen (de peer-group).

Aangezien het “erbij horen” de hoogste prioriteit heeft neemt men onnadenkend ook veel negatief gedrag over en zet men zich zeer nadrukkelijk af tegen de gevestigde orde, de volwassenen.

Tijdens de pubertijd vindt de laatste training plaats voor de volgende fase. Als jongeren sterk negatief worden beïnvloed door hun soortgenoten wordt deze fase niet afgerond en worden ze een drop-out die moeilijk aan het werk komt.

De persoonlijkheid trekt zich niets aan van de levensloopfasen. Er zijn mensen die altijd kind of puber blijven of weer puber worden (midlife-crisis).

Aangezien de persoonlijkheid ook bepalend is voor het beroep is het mogelijk om in iedere fase van de levensloop begeleiding te bieden met de juiste leeftijd.

Theoretisch hebben oude mensen in het begin van hun fase nog genoeg energie en de meeste levenswijsheid. In een groot aantal culturen wordt hiervan gebruik gemaakt door het  drie-generatie-systeem te hanteren.

Het principe van het drie-generatie systeem wordt in Nederland gebruikt bij de begeleiding van mensen die socialisatie-problemen hebben (“Op eigen kracht”).

Het huidige schoolsysteem is nog gebaseerd op de tijd van de massaproductie van de Industriële revolutie en lijkt op de fabriek waarvoor de arbeiders en managers geschoold moeten worden om aan de lopende banden hun werk te doen. Deze tijd is definitief voorbij.

In de pubertijd gaat het om doen, ervaren en uitproberen. Kennis verzamelen is dan niet echt aan de orde. Die kennis kan men veel beter verkrijgen door te reflecteren. Reflectie vindt plaats als er iets mis is gegaan.

Aangezien kennis zeer snel verandert is het niet zinvol meer om preventief veel kennis te vergaren. Kennis kan just-in-time worden verkregen als men praktisch in de problemen zit of overzicht nodig heeft. Ze heeft dan ook een veel hogere retentie.

In de nabije toekomst gaan instrumenten of zichzelf bedienen of krijgen een simpel user-interface dat de gebruiker vertelt wat hij moet doen.

In de productieve fase (volwassenheid) wordt de mens bestuurd door en maakt hij gebruik van regelsystemen (“het”). In deze periode wordt hij geacht een buffer op te bouwen voor de tijden dat er niet kan worden geproduceerd. Een volwassen zorgt in eerste instantie van zijn leven voor zijn kinderen (en soms partner) en later voor zijn ouders.

6. Het Begeleidingssysteem

Ondersteuningsgroep

Rondom ieder individu wordt een sociaal netwerk gevormd dat bereid is om elkaar te helpen en indien nodig ook te waarborgen. In het algemeen bestaat dat netwerk uit naaste familieleden en vrienden. Het is de bedoeling dat deze groep zo vroeg als mogelijk is in het leven wordt gevormd en zo lang als mogelijk in stand blijft. Denk daarbij ook aan de oude functies van meter en peter.

Coach

Een Coach is een persoon die over praktische levenswijsheid beschikt. Het is iemand die zijn/haar loopbaanpad heeft verlaten en zich als vrijwilliger aanbiedt aan mensen die steun nodig hebben in het leven. Coaches kunnen door een persoon of door zijn ondersteuningsgroep worden gevraagd om te helpen. Een ondersteuningsgroep is een absolute randvoorwaarde om aan de slag te gaan. Een coach kan gebruik maken van een simulator om mogelijkheden te onderzoeken.

Case Manager

Een case manager is een rol die er voor zorgt dat een dringend probleem wordt opgelost. Case managers kunnen zich in allerlei instanties bevinden en kunnen daardoor fors langs elkaar heen gaan werken. Het is de taak van de coach om de probleemhebber (zijn “maatje”) te helpen om een dergelijke situatie te vermijden of te corrigeren.

Case-Management Systeem

Alle betrokkenen maken gebruik van één Case-Management-Systeem (CMS). Een CMS is een procesmanager die op basis van condities zijn werk kan doen. Met behulp van dit systeem kunnen afspraken worden vastgelegd maar ook andere partijen betrokken en aan hun afspraken worden gehouden.

Zelfhulpgroep

Een zelfhulpgroep is een groep mensen die in vergelijkbare omstandigheden heeft verkeerd en bereid is om anderen te ondersteunen met praktische raadgeving. Mensen kunnen deelnemen aan meerdere groepen.

Case

Een case is een gestandaardiseerd beschrijving van een situatie in combinatie met een niet gestructureerde beschrijving. In het laatste geval lijkt het op een dagboek.

Cases kunnen problematisch zijn en om een oplossing vragen maar ze kunnen ook een beschrijving zijn van een gebeurtenis (bv. een ongeluk, een ziekte, een verhuizing, een aankoop). Cases worden gebruikt om een kwalitatief historisch overzicht te krijgen eventueel aangevuld met kwantitatieve informatie. Cases worden zoveel als mogelijk is automatisch aangemaakt.

Verzorgers

Indien een ondersteuningsgroep onvoldoende tijd en mogelijkheden heeft om de benodigde hulp te bieden kan externe hulp worden opgeroepen. Die wordt toegevoegd aan de groep en communiceert ook met de groep.

Specialisten/Hulpmiddelen

Indien nodig kan een case manager tijdelijk of permanent specialisten of hulpmiddelen toevoegen om de case op te lossen.

Kennissystemen/Deskundigen

Indien nodig kan een case manager tijdelijk of permanent deskundigen en kennissystemen tijdelijk of permanent toevoegen om de case op te lossen.

7. Financiering van de Levensloop

Het lichaam is verbonden met kort cyclische zon- en maanritmen zoals de dag, de maan/maand en het jaar (de seizoenen). Het gedrag is meetbaar (sensors), sterk voorspelbaar en daardoor budgetteerbaar mits er geen sprake is van verslaving, de behoefte van het lichaam om eindeloos te genieten.

Het complement van het lichaam, de geest, zoekt zekerheid en zoekt en formeert voorspelbare lange termijn patronen (soms een onderneming genoemd) die zich tonen in de vele economische cycli (Kitchen, Juglar, Kuznets, Kondratiev, …).

Aangezien de patronen onderhevig zijn aan verstoringen moet men ze niet als een absolute zekerheid gaan hanteren. Cycli herstellen zich altijd weer.

De korte cycli moduleren op lange cycli en hebben een voorspelbare verhouding (één Kondratieff = drie Kuznets= zes Juglars = twaalf Kitchens).

De Kontratiev-cyclus duurt +/- 54 jaar wat betekent dat de gemiddelde mens in zijn leven altijd profiteert van voorspoed en tegenslag. Dit betekent dat men met behulp van een lange termijn planning en een adequaat sociaal netwerk de cycli ongehavend door kan komen.

Sommige mensen hebben last van teveel geluk, teveel ongeluk, teveel passie of teveel wantrouwen om flexibel om te gaan met de toekomst.

In dat geval kunnen er voor deze mensen ondersteunde systemen worden ontworpen die zowel het geluk als het ongeluk delen door elkaar een waarborg te verlenen of elkaar te helpen in het besturen van het levenspad.

8. Smart Computing: De Mens in de Machine

Software gaat steeds meer psychische functies van de mens overnemen waardoor er uiteindelijk volledig autonome systemen zullen komen.

Op dit moment zijn vooral patroonherkenning (Big Data) en sensors gekoppeld aan procesmanagers (‘robots”) bruikbaar.

In de volgende stap kan de mens zich gaan koppelen aan zeer krachtige simulatoren die aan de ene kant de buitenwereld voorspelbaar zullen maken (“Early Warning”) en aan de andere kant een persoonlijke fantasiewereld (“het Holodeck”) kunnen maken waarin de mens eindeloos kan doorbrengen.

In de laatste fase kan de mens zich voorzien van lichaamssensors die het onbewuste zullen gaan ontsluiten.

Producten zullen worden gestandaardiseerd middels onderling gekoppelde product-configurators waarmee de klant kan gaan spelen (of andersom).

9. Van Coöperatie naar Banking Robot

Bankieren is heel oud. In de code van Hammurabi (1700 v Chr) werd er al gesproken over verzekeren. Rond 1200 ontstonden in Italië de handelsbanken.

De Treasury voortgekomen uit het graanpakhuis van Hammurabi is de functie binnen de bank die moet zorgen voor de levensloopbegeleiding van de bank door te zorgen voor een goede balans tussen sparen (productie) en lenen (consumptie) op zowel de korte- als de lange termijn.

Bankieren was tot 1900 uitsluitend voorbehouden aan de welgestelden. Rond die tijd ontstonden er twee nieuwe bankvormen die zich gingen richten op het vergaren van vermogen onder de minder draagkrachtigen (Giro & Postspaarbank) en het besturen van collectieve bedrijven en het dragen van collectieve risico’s (Raiffeisen, de Coöperatie of Onderlinge Waarborg Maatschappij).

De Consumptiebank (Bank van Lening) kreeg een enorme impuls toen de arbeiders in de jaren zestig verplicht werden om een salarisrekening te openen. Vanaf dat moment raakten de Nederlanders hun vrees om te lenen en te spenderen kwijt. Deze ontwikkeling werd natuurlijk sterk geholpen door de opkomende Kondratieff-golf.

Aan het eind van 20e eeuw hebben de banken geprofiteerd van de verder oplopende economie en hebben daarbij vergeten om een geldvoorraad voor de slechte jaren op te bouwen. Dit geldt natuurlijk niet alleen voor de bank zelf maar ook voor zijn klanten.

Rond 2000 op de top van de golf werd door de ontwikkelaars van de handelsbank Binck-Bank, Knab gelanceerd als een nieuwe vorm van klantgericht bankieren (Personal Financial Planning).

Knab probeert om de nieuwe mogelijkheden van de IT-technologie ten volle aan te wenden. Tot op heden slaat deze moderne vorm van bankieren niet erg aan omdat de klant de diensten te duur vind. Het grootste probleem is natuurlijk dat deze bank geen aansluiting krijgt bij de duurzame socialen, de expanderende genieters en de comprimerende zekerheidzoekers.

Het ligt in de lijn der verwachting dat rond de tijd van de Singularity de bank zich zal hebben getransformeerd in een begrijpend pratende alleswetende bankrobot die perfect waakt over de belangen van de klant. De teerling voor een Dr.Watson-bank is deze maand door IBM samen met de DSB-bank in Singapore geworpen.

Het lijkt er op dat deze ontwikkeling wel eens sneller kan gaan dan men denkt omdat IBM wederom een miljard dollar heeft gestoken in de toepassingen van zijn Dr.Watson-technologie. Deze investering zal vooral worden besteed aan het verbeteren van de medische Dr.Watson.

Dr. Watson ook wel Semantic Analytics genoemd kan in korte tijd eindeloos veel kwalitatieve (tekst, plaatjes) en kwantitatieve data tot zich nemen, patronen ontdekken,  logische redeneren en praten.

Om de uitdagingen van de komende cyclus-periode aan te kunnen zullen de banken zich moeten gaan concentreren op het balanceren van hun eigen geldvoorraden en daarmee ook de waardenvoorraden van hun klanten. Dit kan alleen als ze zich gaan bezighouden met de volledige levenscyclus.

Dit betekent dat een bank niet alleen alle soorten dienstverlening moet gaan bieden maar ook alle soorten banken onder één noemer moeten zien te brengen.

In dat kader zal de bank ook weer een sociale kant moeten gaan tonen.

We hebben gezien dat deze kant van het bankwezen zich in het verleden heeft getoond in de coöperatie en de waarborgmaatschappij. Deze banktypen zijn grotendeels verdwenen en hebben zich getransformeerd in een “normale” bank en verzekeraar waarbij de inbreng in het beleid van de klanten niet groot meer is.

Het herstellen van de klantbetrokkenheid (zie Knab) is een “hot issue” en “customer co-creation” staat hoog in de trend top tien.  Daarnaast rijst het aantal nieuw opgerichte kredietunies de pan uit en is de regering al druk bezig om deze vorm van onderlinge solidariteit een wettelijke basis te geven.

Het ligt dan ook voor de hand om onderlinge solidariteit (“de naaste”) weer als uitgangspunt te nemen voor de mensen die dat willen en dat zijn de mensen met een sociale persoonlijkheid.

10. Integrale Gezondheidszorg

We zijn weer terug bij het verdwenen bankkantoor in de wijk. Het stond in een winkelcentrum waar inmiddels door de snelle opkomst van de Internetwinkels alleen nog de lichaamsgerateerde kort cyclische retail aanwezig is.

De kans is groot dat die zich zelfs op den duur terugtrekt als de winkel-logistiek zich volledig heeft aangepast aan het aan huis bezorgen.

Vaak is zo’n winkelcentrum gekoppeld aan een gezondheidscentrum dat zich nu ook druk moet gaan maken over de psycho-sociale zorg. De overheid heeft bedacht dat de huisarts in de wijk in samenwerking met de wijkverpleegkundige moet gaan optreden als personal case-manager.

Opvallend is dat de economische gezondheidszorg (de armenzorg) nog grotendeels een kerkelijke aangelegenheid is. Er zijn vele organisaties die de hulp van levenswijze “maatjes” aanbieden om mensen te helpen ook economisch orde op zaken te stellen.

Wat tot op heden nog volledig ontbreekt is een integrale benadering. De vele professionele hulpverleners (“de sociale kaart”) en vrijwilligers werken notoir langs elkaar heen,  het aantal specialismen is sterk gegroeid waardoor ieder probleemhokje een eigen loket heeft en men kan door de soms zeer complexe vaktaal moeilijk onderling communiceren.

Wat vaak wordt vergeten is dat er naast hulpverleners en vrijwilligers ook nog commerciële partijen zijn die belang hebben bij een gezonde medewerker of klant.

Die belangen worden bij voorbeeld gedragen door Arbo-diensten, Verzekeraars en Banken die schadeclaims moeten afhandelen en natuurlijk ook voorkomen. Een vergaande samenwerking rondom het wijkgebonden integrale gezondheidscentrum ligt voor de hand.

Het is hierbij van belang om te beseffen dat de technologie veel werk uit handen kan nemen zodat de mens zich volledig kan richten op het persoonlijk contact zowel in de vorm van een gesprek als van de zorg zelf (totdat de zorg-robot zich aandient).

11. De Zelf-Ontplooiende Stad

Een stad is een verzameling gebouwen, waarin mensen samenwonen, werken, worden verzorgd of plezier maken. De mensen en de gebouwen zijn verbonden door allerlei soorten netwerken (energie, vervoer, telecommunicatie, sociale netwerken, waardeketens, ..).

De stad kan net als het Integrale Gezondheidscentrum verdeeld worden in vier onderling verbonden onderdelen n.l Besturing, Bedrijvigheid, Sociaal en Cultureel.

Boven de Stad kan een Monitor worden gedefinieerd die erg veel lijkt op het menselijke bewustzijn. De Monitor moet er voor zorgen dat de verschillende onderdelen niet te dominant worden.

De vier onderdelen kunnen weer worden opgesplitst in vergelijkbare onderdelen waardoor er in totaal (1+4) x 12 = 60 onderdelen kunnen worden gedefineerd. Die onderdelen kunnen als nodig is nog veel dieper kunnen worden opgedeeld als we de mens weer opsplitsen in bijv. organen en de organen weer in cellen. Op ieder niveau gelden dezelfde wetten.

Op weg naar de Persoonlijke Voedsel Monitor (in Dutch)

Ik ben de enige zoon van een boer uit Wekerom en ben door mijn vader getraind in het boerenvak. Een paar jaar geleden werd ik uitgenodigd voor een bijeenkomst van investeerders in de voedselketen in Wageningen.

Hierdoor werd mijn latente interesse voor de landbouw weer aangewakkerd. Wat mij vooral begon te interesseren was de relatie voedsel en gezondheid. Door het netwerk werd ik steeds doorverwezen naar deskundigen op dit gebied.

Tot mijn verbazing bleek dat al die deskundigen grotendeels in het duister tasten ten aanzien van de relatie voedsel/gezondheid.

De reden was dat men zich veel te veel had geconcentreerd op de statistiek en onvoldoende had rekening gehouden met het feit dat de mensheid heel divers is.

Als je die diversiteit combineert met het feit dat alle omstandigheden ook weer specifiek zijn kom je uit op een omkering van alles.

De mens heeft behoefte aan specifiek voedsel in specifieke omstandigheden (“personalized food”).

Sinds een aantal jaren houd ik mij bezig met Smart Technology. Het woord Smart betekent dat het gedrag van de software niet is te onderscheiden van het gedrag van een mens. Een goed voorbeeld is de zelf-rijdende auto.

In dit document concentreer ik me op de “slimme” voedselketen.

Een slim systeem heeft zintuigen nodig (sensors), moet zelfstandig kunnen denken (analytics) en handelen (proces management) daarnaast moet het ook kunnen samenwerken (community) met mensen en andere slimme systemen en overzicht houden (monitoring).

Slimme systemen bewerkstelligen keten-integratie en keten-omkering.

Keten-integratie resulteert in het direct koppelen van consument en producent. De intermediair in de keten verdwijnt en wordt overgenomen door een (software)-infrastructuur die vaak wordt aangeduid met E-Commerce.

Consumenten kopen steeds meer hun producten in web-shops waarna de producten aan huis worden bezorgd. Het thuis bezorgen gaat een revolutie ontketenen in de stadslogistiek omdat het gebruikelijk concept van het centrale (of regionale) distributiecentrum niet meer nodig is als je instaat bent om verschillende logistieke stromen slim te combineren.

In het eerste stadium werd de web-shop vooral gebruikt om luxe goederen te verkopen maar sinds kort neemt het on-line kopen en bezorgen van voedsel enorm toe. Een deel of een groot deel van dit voedsel wordt in de nabijheid van de klant geproduceerd en werd vroeger op lokale markten verhandeld.

Door de globalisatie worden lokale producten nu de hele wereld over getransporteerd en vice-versa waardoor er erg veel energie verloren gaat.

Bewuste consumenten willen weer terug naar lokaal geproduceerde voeding. Dit geldt niet alleen voor voeding maar ook voor energie en werk. Er komt steeds meer behoefte aan zelfvoorziening (autarkie). Het is dan ook niet onwaarschijnlijk dat de lokale markt weer terugkomt.

Keten-omkering wil zeggen dat de consument en niet meer de producent aan het begin van de keten komt te staan. Die consument wordt nu het waarnemingsinstrument, de sensor, van de keten. Wat hem of haar aantrekt wordt uiteindelijk vertaald in een vraag. De grote vraag is hoe de consument zijn vraag kan articuleren.

Niet het produceren maar het consumeren wordt dominant in de waardeketen. De consument moet nog erg wennen aan het feit dat zijn vraag bepalend wordt voor het aanbod.

Steeds meer mensen beseffen dat voedsel heel belangrijk is voor hun welbevinden. Hierbij gaat het niet alleen om de ingrediënten maar ook om de wijze van de productie van deze ingrediënten in de voedselketen. Deze voedselketen integreert en keert net zo hard als alle andere waardeketens.

De diëtetiek, de voedingsleer, is een hele oude wetenschap.  In de preventieve holistische gezondheidsleer van Griekenland, Rome, China en India werd  er veel aandacht besteed aan voedsel.

Voedsel in de zin van kruiden was ook het belangrijkste middel om een ziekte te genezen. De kruiden zijn in de loop der tijd getransformeerd in chemische (farmaceutische) geneesmiddelen. Wat veel mensen niet beseffen is dat medicijnen ook voedsel zijn.

De oude wetenschappers waren op de hoogte van het specifieke van het lichaam en de persoonlijkheid en ontwikkelden ook classificaties (de humores en de temperamenten) die tot op heden worden gebruikt in de psychologie (Big Five).

De visie van de beroemde Hippocrates op de diëtetiek wijkt in zijn wezen niet zo erg af van de huidige visie over voedsel. Los daarvan is er erg veel veranderd en die verandering is veroorzaakt door de technologie.

In het begin van de 20ste eeuw kreeg de technologie invloed op de medische wetenschap. Er werd steeds meer kennis verkregen over de onderdelen van het menselijk lichaam waardoor de specialisatie enorm toenam. In 1930 was 25% van de medici gespecialiseerd in 1980 80%.

Door de specialistische visie op de mens is de kennis over de voedselverwerking in het lichaam enorm toegenomen en begint men na het uitzoeken van het menselijk DNA ook steeds meer zicht te krijgen op de specialistische invloed van voedsel op de gezondheid.

Door de specialisatie is het holistische karakter van de geneeskunst grotendeels verdwenen.

De invloed van de technologie op de voedselketen is enorm. De productieprocessen zijn opgeschaald en het voedsel is geoptimaliseerd zowel aan de buitenkant als aan de binnenkant. De tomaat van vroeger lijkt door de genetische manipulatie in niets op de tomaat van nu.

Het is de grote vraag of de ingrediënten van het huidige voedsel nog passen op het lichaam van toen.

Daarbij komt dat de bodem (‘de aarde”) steeds meer is ontdaan van zijn natuurlijke samenstelling waardoor ons voedsel belangrijke stoffen (zoals magnesium) mist.

De consument begint zich hiervan bewust te worden door allerlei publicaties en televisieprogramma’s en vraagt steeds duidelijker om gezond voedsel. Wat gezond is, is niet erg duidelijk. Er worden tientallen boeken op de markt gebracht die elkaar soms fors tegenspreken.

Om te voorkomen dat men door de bomen het bos niet meer blijft zien kan de technologie als hulpmiddel worden aangewend. Het wordt tijd voor de Persoonlijke Voedsel Monitor (PVM). Deze monitor moet de match maken tussen het voedsel en mens.

Wat er in het voedsel zit kan binnenkort door de persoonlijke spectrometer real-time in kaart worden gebracht. Op basis van het persoonlijke voedselprofiel kan dan worden bekeken of dit voedsel passend is.

Met behulp van lichaam-sensors in combinatie met een DNA-profiel kan real-time in kaart worden gebracht wat het lichaam op de lange en de korte termijn nodig en niet nodig heeft. Deze behoefte kan worden vertaald in ingrediënten en daarna in producten.

Daarnaast kan de PVM ook helpen bij het geven van inzicht in de relatie lichaam en voedsel door de koppeling aan een slim leersysteem (SLS).

Vraag en aanbod kunnen door de koppeling aan een E-Commerce systeem direct aan elkaar worden verbonden waardoor het “gezonde” voedsel “on demand” kan worden thuis bezorgd.

Als mensen hun persoonlijke data willen delen kunnen we met behulp van statistische analyse-software (“Big Data”) real-time wetenschappelijk onderzoek doen naar de relatie voedsel en gezondheid en de resultaten persoonlijk terugkoppelen.

Hierdoor kun je heel goed zien hoe je “het doet” ten opzichte van mensen die op je lijken. Indien er interesse is kunnen die mensen ook met elkaar in contact komen. Natuurlijk moet er hier goed aandacht worden besteed aan privacy.

Paths of Change (PoC) is a Theory about Change that is based on the concept of the Worldview (Weltanschauung) This concept is very old and has many names (Archetype , Tatva, ..). What is a Smart System?

A Smart System looks like a human being. It is equipped with a Sensory-Motor-System, a Mind, Imagination and Emotions.

Smart Systems senses the outside (and his inside) world with much more sensors-types than the five sensors of his human look-a-like.

A Smart System is able to react very fast with its predefined processes on a event that is detected by its sensors.

A Smart System is an adaptable system. It is able to analyze and improve its behavior, communicate with a human being and other Smart Systems in an understandable way.

Smart Systems are there to compensate the human biases. Smart Systems are able to transform and optimize everything that contains some kind of structure.

Smart Systems  can optimize software, data and content using software/data/text-mining, analyze patterns, predict the short and sometimes the long term.

Smart Systems are perfectly suited to provide the knowledge needed and answer the questions humans ask. They are able to train humans in an almost real situation using simulators.

Smart Systems can be fun to play with.

About Cycles

]In 1931 the US Department of Commerce assigned Edward Dewey the task of discovering the cause and underlying dynamics of the Great Depression. Dewey created a special institute called the Foundation for the Study of Cycles that is still in existence.

The most interesting observation of Dewey is that Cycles restore themselves all the time and are connected by a Harmonic (“Musical”) Pattern. Dewey discovered that we cannot control the Cycles.  Ups and downs are a fact of life.

The most researched Cycle in history by far is the Kondratiev-Cycle named after the Soviet economist Nikolai Kondratiev. The Kondratiev Cycle has a periodicity of 52 years.

The Kondratiev arises from the combination of basic innovations that launch technological revolutions that in turn create leading industrial or commercial sectors.

In the year 2000 the Kondratiev was at his top and is now in a decline that will take 26 years.

Currently we are in  the Kondratiev Spring Phase. It is the time of what Schumpeter, a big fan of Kondratiev, called Creative Destruction.

The old structures are dying and the new structures that will start the new upward wave are created.  It is a time of tremendous disruptions.

About the Software Factory

The last wave that started around 1950 was dominated by the rise of the centralized computer.

This computer was based on the factory-model of Henry Ford and Frederick Winslow Taylor of the previous wave.

Between 1950-2000 isolated creative programmers united in big software factories that are controlled by unified standardized methods and processes. Between 1950-2000 the programmers automated their own processes.

The methods are now transformed into standardized (BPML-)process-models that are abstracted into standardized (VDML-) business models that are filled with Industry-Models. An example is the ARTS-model that covers Retail.

Creative programmers are now replaced by creative business-modelers.

About the Next Wave, The Network of the Human Mind

On Christmas 1990 Tim Berners-Lee working at CERN published the first version of The World Wide Web. He launched the theme for the next wave, The Network.

From 1950 until 2000 the causal linear manual processes were automated but now the next level, the network of the human mind is at stake.

At the end of this wave around 2040 or much earlier as some people predict, the machines will imitate and surpass the human because they will unite in a global brain that can be connected to our Brains if we want that to happen.

At this moment we are creating the memory-banks of the Global Brain by producing billions of connected parts that contain complete human life’s, theories, music, movies, measurements and much more that we are now unable to imagine.

What almost nobody ubderstands is that the Global Brain is not a machine made by humans but an expression of the Universe that was called de Deniurg or the Matrix. Have a look at this blog.

A Short Scenario for the Next Forty Years

It is clear that the Business-Domain-Models will speed up the process of value-chain-integration and value-chain-reversal.

This means that the customer will be in control of the value-chain and there will be direct contact between customer and producer. Value-chain-integration will in the end remove all the intermediaries in the value chain.

Value chains will finally converge into one standardized value chain. Best-practices of separate value-chains will become leaders in the new value-chain. Cross-innovation, combining the best of all worlds, is the way to move on.

To give customers control of the value-chain producers have to simplify their products and make it possible for the customers to create their own version of the product they want.

Products have to become configurations of simple building blocks that can be split into variable parts and infrastructure.  Product-configurators will connect to other configurators. This makes it possible to create completely new combinations.

In the next step the data that is produced by the systems will be analyzed and processes will not be controlled by human made models but by models that are created by statistical pattern recognition tools. The systems will understand humans and predict human behavior and adapt themselves to the human needs.

In the last stage the software will produce an image that reduces the complexity of its whole. It will create a virtual human world that gives us the illusion that we are still in control.

At that time most people will play and not work.

Challenges

The most important question you have to ask yourself is if your company is part of the “old world” that will finally be destructed by creativity or is already part of the new wave.

The big problem is change management,  how to move from the current state to a for most companies and institutions unknown future. Companies, Institutions and People have to transform their collaboration patterns,  their software, their data and their expertise.

The change process is accelerating. Almost all companies and institutions (and governments) are stuck in their installed base of software and their hierarchical organization structure that is not created to respond fast to the challenges that come from the outside word.

The Golden Age

Around 2026 we will move to the Kondratiev Summer , a top of the Economic Cycle but we will also move from the Age of Piscus to the Age of Aquarius in the very Long Term cycle of the Precession.

This cycle was already known >5000 years ago and was used to direct the strategy of the people at the Top of Ancient Society (“Pharao’s, Emperors, Popes.

The Age of Aquarius us the age of the Flow Systems.

About Autarky

The amount of local cooperative energy-companies in the Netherlands (in 2012) is increasing. It all has to do with the decrease of the price of solar-sells but there is more at stake.

Local energy-companies are part of a movement aimed at Autarky. Autarky is the quality of being self-sufficient.

The word Autarky comes from Greek αὐτάρκεια (autárkeia), itself from αὐτός (autós) = self and ἀρκέω (arkéo) which in its passive form means be satisfied, content or “Out of my own Power“.

The need to become self-sufficient has certainly to do with the current economic-, ecological- and energy crisis. People are afraid that the supply of vital energy and food will suddenly stop or become priceless. This is not the only reason.

Some people think we are wasting our money, food and energy by producing nondurable throw-away goods in which the packaging is sometimes more important than the content. They want to create durable products and services. This is not the only reason.

Some people don’t trust the suppliers of their food and energy, their politicians and/or the caretakers of their savings, the banks, anymore. They believe that their food is intentionally manipulated, their savings are wasted, their country is sold out to the rich and their environment is polluted for just one simple reason, Greed, the opposite of “Being Satisfied”.

The people of the autarkic movement want to recreate the necessary functions (bank, energy, food, work, healthcare, government) themselves in a cooperative way in their own living context.

The local cooperatives  are now joining on a higher (mostly country) level and are  in need of a shared (real-time)infrastructure. The current infrastructure does not support flows that move between many participants (so called peer-to-peer-networks).

The current system is a Hierarchic Top Down System containing Huge Highways that are connected to Big Production-facilities. This makes it impossible to consolidate, share and distribute resources peer-to-peer on a local level.

The Electric Highway

The Top Down System has created Global Markets where the local production is sold  to the highest bidder.

The Global Markets are the playing field for advanced speculators that make a lot of money. After the deal is made the local production is transported to a far away destination. That is the reason why the Top Down Systems are integrated in world-wide Logistic Systems.

If we want to coordinate all the local initiatives we need advanced systems that Up- and download, control, predict, connect, share, balance and distribute vital local resources on the short and long term.

Examples of these systems can be found in “crowd funding“, “virtual power plants”  and “treasury management” (balancing many small amounts of Money at the short and long term).

In Nature we find comparable (Fractal) Distribution-Systems in the Lungs, the Arteries, Riverdelta, the Weather Cycle and Ecologies.

All of these fysical Flow Systems, that map 1 Resource-> on Many Resources or Many Resources->on 1 Resource,  are based on the third Law of Thermodynamics called Constructal Law.

In the philosophy of the Stoics and Cynics of Ancient Greece the perfect human was not only arete (“all-around excellent”) but also independent of every need. Arete was associated with a full life as a citizen of a city.

Later Spinoza (“On Human Freedom“), Rousseau and David Thoureau (Walden) have developed their own autarkic philosophy.

Autarky was the ideal of a complete man who needed no one and no organization. This ideal can also be found in Zen Buddhism, Taoist practise, Early Christians (Nazarites), the Catholic Order of the Franciscans and the Protestant Quakers.

In reality it is almost impossible to be completely self-sufficient as a lonely human being. We need others when we are young, sick and old and we need others because we are specialized (“Talented”). Autarky is a possible aim for a small community.

The religious, cultural and political movements at the left and the right aimed at living the “good life” (“Living Slow“) are converging in  the movement of the Cultural Creatives. The Cultural Creatives are the new Elite that is moving to the AND-state (Left AND Right).

They don’t believe in the old Competitive Ideologies (Socialist, Capitalist, Religious, Liberal, Nationalist, Conservative, Globalist, etc..) but want  to focus on the Shared Collaborative Values between all Humans. We all need Love, Food and Shelter.

Autarky has always been a major political aim of countries. Autarky is about the possibility to control your own future and to become independent of other powers that could use your dependency to tell you what to do to get what you desperately want.

At this moment the shortage of fossil fuels, especially oil and gaz, is used to influence the policy of other countries and is the cause of local conflicts in the Middle East.

China is buying all kinds of vital materials to make sure their economy will not become dependent on others. If they will succeed and nobody doubts about that, they will become the economic controlling power of the world.

Reaching a state of local autarky, being satisfied with what your environment provides you, has become the aim of the wordwide sustainability movement.

Total autarky is possible when you want to live as a stoic or a survivalist. Most people accept a more simple living, move off-the-grid and build autonomous buildings that make use of  renewable energy.

Others start to farm in their own backyard, join an allotment garden or move back-to-the-land and practice sustainable agriculture.  To handle their surpluses and shortages independent  local markets are created that make use of  alternative currencies.

A strive for (regional) Autarky pushes the need to innovate to a higher level because not all regions contain the right materials, knowledge or experience to realize everything everybody needs. To become fully Autarkic the Production and Consumption Systems in the Region have to be based on simple concepts and parts that are available everywhere. Simple concepts are concepts that are easely copied.

The only way to combine Simple and Complex concepts is to use the Concept of Self-Reference (Fractals). The only way to make use of parts that are available everywhere is to make use of the Simple Building Blocks of Nature. A good example is the use of algea in food processing.

The concept of Autonomy not only plays an important role on the many levels of human (personal, organization, country) and animal society (Competitive vs Collaborative (Ants)). It is also a major subject in the research of (Second-OrderCybernetics (Control Theory).

Second Order Cybernetics is concerned with the Control of the System of Systems (the Meta-System). Hierarchy is not the solution to this problem because it leads to the logical problem of Infinite Regress (“Turtles on turtles on … all the way down”).

The Meta-System is controlling, reproducing and balancing itself by a Fractal Feedback-Cycle that moves Backwards (Consumption) and Forwards (Production).

The concept of Self-Reproduction is called Autopoiesis or Autocatalysis. The Design Philosophy of Cradle to Cradle is a good example of Autopoiesis.

A System is an Autarky if all its Levels are capable of Self-Reproduction.

If a human wants to become self-sufficient he has to accept and develop his own talent and find complementary people so he is able to create a Self-Reproducing Unit.

The smallest Self-Reproducing Unit in Human Society is the Family living in one House. This House has to produce more than enough Energy and the Garden has to produce more than enough food to support the Family.

If we cluster all these Self-Reproducing Families/Houses & Gardens in a small City the chances are high that the combined talents of the families will be able to supply every profession needed if the people of the city want to Live a Simple Life.

It is also possible that the surplusses and shortages of the families can be compensated by creating a Market on the level of the small City or one level higher, the Region.

An Autarkic Movement becomes an Aggressive Competitive Nationalistic Movement when the Citizens of the Country feel that their Country is plundered by outsiders and their Leaders promise to get it all back by expanding the Space to Live (“Lebensraum“) to facilitate everything that is needed.

This happened when Germany was preparing for War after the enormous reparation payments of 132 billion gold marks to the Winners of World War I.

The Autarkic Movement could also become a Peaceful Cooperative Social Movement like the Movement of Gandhi in India when the people accept the Good Life they already live and want to share the surpluses with others who are in a worse state.

Thermodynamics, the Science of Heat, became an important science in the 19th century when physicists started to improve the Steam-Machine. This blog is about a recently discovered law of Thermodynamics called the Constructal Law.

The Constructal Law describes How Intelligent Systems emerge out of the Laws of Thermodynamics.

Heat is Random Motion

According to Thermodynamics the evolution of the universe has been characterized by an on-going transformation from a simple, restricted, highly condensed, homogeneous state (the Big Bang) to an increasingly complex, widely dispersed, dynamic, multipotent, granular diversity.

Energy always moves from High to Low Temperature. This is the main reason why most of the energy of Earth comes from our Sun.

With help of the Electro-Magnetic radiation of the Sun we call Light, plants, algae and bacteria transform simple molecules into complex organic structures (Biomass = Potential Chemical Energy) and store the energy of the Sun. Bacteria and Fungi brake up these structures, produce heat, reduce the complexity, and close the Cycle.

The Input of the Heat of the Sun has to be compensated by a comparable Output of Radiation otherwise Earth would be burned instantly. The difference between the Input and Output of Energy is transformed into Movements on Earth.

The Earth’s climate is a huge flow system. It circulates air and water from the tropics to the poles and back. These flows develop as air and water move from hot to cold regions, a result of variation in the heating of the Earth’s surface by the sun.

The Earth is not only heated by the Sun. The hot kernel of the Earth is surrounded by a small crust. At certain places on Earth and the Sea the rotating pool of the magma-ocean produces a lot of energy.

The Earth with its solar heat input, heat rejection, and wheels of atmospheric and oceanic circulation, is a heat engine without shaft. Its maximized mechanical power cannot be delivered, but is instead destined to dissipate through air and water friction and other forms of heat loss. It produces maximum power, which it then dissipates at a maximum rate.

The earth is wasting a lot of energy because the transmission of  most of its energy is not contained in a Tube-like-system.

The system maximizes the sum of the work done driving the planetary circulation, and the heat rejected back to space at the cold end of the heat engine.

When the speed of the planetary circulation is low, so are the turbulent losses. As speed increases, up to a certain point the sum of work done (circulation speed) and heat rejected also increasing until the turbulence starts to interfere with the circulation and  actually decrease the total of work done and heat rejected. That is the point, “the edge of turbulence”,  at which the system will naturally run.

Every flow system tries to find the perfect balance between movement and friction.

The biomass on Earth is direct or later (Oil, Gaz, Coal) consumed by all kinds of organisms. In Food-Webs Organisms are consumed by other organisms.

We, the Humans, describe the interaction of the organisms in the Food-Webs as a Struggle for Live, a Survival of the Fittest, but the flow of energy in the food webs could also be seen as an adaptive chain of chemical reactions that are performed in self-moving, self-reproducing chemical factories.

Energy is Potential Movement. The potential energy stored in the biomass on Earth is transformed into circular movement (kinetic energy). During this transformation Heat is produced. Heat is the waste produced by a restrained non-effective movement.

The energy of the Sun produces all kinds of movements on Earth. Examples are river-delta’s, our respiratory system and the weather-system.

According to Constructal Theory the generation of design (configuration, patterns, geometry, shape, structure, rhythm) in nature is a physical phenomenon that unites all animate and inanimate systems. Design in Nature always shows itself as systems that flow and improve themselves.  Systems improve themselves because the movement from chaos to order takes many discrete steps.

Biological organisms are flow systems. River basins are flow systems. A Tree is a flow system. The Traffic System is a flow system. The City of Paris is a flow system. The Financial Market is a flow system. The Internet is a flow system. A Proces-Manager is a flow system.

Flow Systems

All these flow systems must be structured (architecturally designed) in such a way that the currents that flow (Life Energy, Water, Air, Electricity, Gaz, People, Cars, Trains, Airplanes, Content, Money) increasingly get to where they need to go. This gives shape and structure to everything that evolves over time.

Flow Systems always remove the Resistance to the Flow themselves.

Constructal Law is formulated as follows: “For a finite-size system to persist in time (to live), it must evolve in such a way that it provides easier access to the imposed currents that flow through it.”.

Nature always provides Resistance to Change (Heat, Erosion, Friction) and this resistance is provided by the Systems of the Past. The current Order resists the potential Chaos of Free Moving Energy.

The Paths of Change of our Universe always move in the same way. The pattern looks like a Moebius Ring, the number 8, because this is the only way to cope with the polarity of the movements. In a Moebius Ring two Opposite Cyclic Movements are perfectly United.

A Moebius Ring is a 2D-structure that operates in 3D because it needs a Twist to operate.

According to Constructal Theory the Energy of the Sun creates two types of Systems called Engines and Brakes.

Engines are the most effective and efficient states in the evolution of our Universe. They have found the best way to cope with the resistance that is provided by the Brakes. Brakes are the old systems like trees, forests and natural or constructed dams that slow down the movement so the potential energy can be stored.

If the Energy of the Sun is not stored,  the Self-Reproducing Systems are unable to evolve to a higher level of organization.  If every Resistance would be gone the Flow-Systems would Flow in a Radial Pattern to every Direction possible.

If we remove the Natural Brakes (Forests, River-delta’s) the Expansive Flow-systems will take over control and the Smart Highly Improbable Next Generation Brake Systems, the Organisms would die.

We, the Humans, are here to Resist the Engines that give the Flow-Systems the opportunity to make Everything the Same. Every Thing has to become the Same because the Universe does not discriminate. Every configuration has the same chance to be alive.

Dependent on the type of flow there are standard solutions to the dualities that are provided by the eternal battle between engine (movement) and brake (not-movement).

The standard solution can be calculated using the Laws of Thermodynamics. Tree (or Leaf)-shaped fractal systems are for example the best solution for a One-to-Many (or Many-to-One) Flow. The Flow Systems always converge to these Shapes.

Our Earth is rotating, spinning and moving around our moving Sun. The influx of Energy on every area on Earth is changing all the time.

This means that every Flow-System on Earth has to adapt to the short term and long term changing Energy Input of the Sun.

The stability of a Flow-System, the Resistance to Change, is highly dependent on the Resilience of the System.

According to the theory of Panarchy the Resilience of a System is dependent on the Potential and the Connectedness of a System.

In  the Exploitation/Conservation phase of the Adaptive Panarchy-Cycle the Constructal Engines become more efficient (producing more Potential) and Connected. This means that the amount of possible paths in the River-delta of the System is reduced. This amount determinates the resilience of the system.

At the state of maximum production and maximum connection (conservation) the system is spending all its potential at self-reproduction and is highly vulnerable to external disturbances. At a certain moment when a disturbance destroys the majority of the paths the system collapses (release).

The bits and pieces, the components, of the scattered ecology are reassembled sometimes in a different way (reorganization) and the system starts again most of the time on a higher level of organization.

Kleiber’s Law is an example of the Constructal Law. It shows the many levels of organization that have occured since the chemical factories of the bacteria started to work together. Kleiber’s Law can be extented to the level of the Community and the City.

The Panarchy Cycle is Self-Similar. It repeats itself on many Scales. The higher the scale the bigger the impact and the slower change takes place.

The Scales are interconnected. A huge disturbance on a lower scale (Revolt) can have an huge impact on a higher scale when both cycles are moving into the Release State.

A Slow moving High Level Cycle can help to restructure a fast moving cycle by providing the template of the way the components were originally assembled (its CommunityDNA) (Remember).

Constructal Law is a Law of Thermodynamics. Thermodynamics has evolved into a Statistical Theory called Statistical Mechanics. To calculate a probability you have to define the Space of all Possibilities of a System, the Phase Space.

When you don’t know what a system will look like it is impossible to calculate the Phase Space. To calculate the possibilities of Constructal Law you have to imagine the possible constructions of Mother Nature.

It is possible to play with Probability Theory without knowing the exact Phase Space. In this case you have to look at the probabilities of the probabilities. These probabilities are described by the Triangle of Pascal. Behind the Triangle of Pascal a new Triangular Structure shows itself. This pattern goes on and on until the primary Triangle of Creation, the Holy Trinity, is reached.

The Trinity is a combination of Desire (Mother, Female, Expansion, FLOW), Control (Father, Male, Compression, BRAKE) and the combination of both Expansion AND Compression also called the Void or the Tao. In Physics the Void is called the Vacuum or the Zero-Point-Field.

When we have moved back in time and have reached the state of the Trinity we are very close to the Big Bang. The Big Bang is a result of the Union of the Opposites (Yin/Yang, Male/Female, Matter/Anti-Matter, Expansion/Compression) that both came out of the Void.

The Vacuum is the Eternal Flow System of Creation. It contains everything that is possible even the impossible, the Empty Set.

The Tao is like a well:

According to Constructal Law every finite-size system must evolve in such a way that it provides easier access to the imposed currents that flow through it.

The Tao is the Channel of the Energy of Life. If Constructal Law is Right we have to give easier access to this Flow. We have to become the River to move to our final destination, the Sea of the Nothing.

Over Veerkracht (Resilience) (in Dutch)

De leer van de thermodynamica is in de 19e eeuw ontstaan uit natuurkundig onderzoek dat werd uitgevoerd om de efficiëntie van de stoommachine te verbeteren. Inmiddels heeft deze wetenschap belangrijke wetten over het Universum ontdekt.

Volgens de thermodynamica beweegt de energie in het Universum op de lange termijn zich van een onmogelijke extreem hete situatie, de Big Bang, naar een toestand van extreme kou en een hoge waarschijnlijkheid, de Big Freeze, waarin alles netjes uniform verdeeld is. Het universum beweegt van extreme chaos naar extreme ordening.

Energie stroomt daarom altijd van hoge (chaos) naar lage temperatuur (orde). Vrijwel alle energie op aarde komt van de zon in de vorm van electro-magnetische straling. Met behulp van deze zonnestraling transformeren planten, algen en bacteriën simpele chemische structuren in complexe biomassa (chemische energie). Bacteriën en schimmels breken deze structuren weer af waardoor de cyclus wordt gesloten.

Biomassa wordt door de rest van de organismen op aarde direct of soms veel later (olie/gas/steenkool) geconsumeerd. Het consumeren van de primaire zonne-energie vindt plaats in voedselketens waarin de organismen ook zelf weer worden geconsumeerd.

Vanuit ons menselijk perspectief interpreteren wij het consumeren van de participanten in een voedselketen als een competitie (“survival of the fittest”) maar we kunnen het ook zien als een uiterst flexibele keten van chemische reacties die worden uitgevoerd in bewegende zichzelf reproducerende chemische fabrieken.

 Energie is de mogelijkheid om iets in beweging te krijgen of te houden. De opgeslagen (potentiële) energie in de aarde wordt soms in meerdere stappen omgezet in beweging (kinetische energie). Tijdens deze omzetting gaat er altijd warmte verloren (dissipatie, wrijving, weerstand, erosie).

De energiestroom van de zon wekt door de rotatie van de aarde stroom-systemen (flow-systems) op. Stroom-systemen hebben een boom-structuur als de stroom van een punt naar een oppervlak of een volume gaat. Een voorbeeld zijn het weersysteem en een meanderende rivier-delta. De longen en de bloedvaten in ons lichaam hebben precies dezelfde opbouw omdat hetzelfde proces ook in ons lichaam optreedt.

Volgens de Constructal Theory van Adrian Bejan verbeteren de stroomsystemen zich steeds opnieuw en dat doen ze door gebruik te maken van de permanente slijtage (dissipatie, wrijving, weerstand, erosie) die de stroombeweging veroorzaakt.  Uiteindelijk vindt er altijd weer ergens een doorbraak plaats in de meander.

Adrian Bejan heeft de Constructal Theory volledig analytisch afgeleid uit de wetten van de Thermodynamica. Hij  beschouwt het principe van de verbeterende stroomsystemen (“construction”)  als een Hoofdwet van de Thermodynamica. Volgens hem is ontwerpen niet een intelligente actie maar een volstrekt logisch gevolg van de werking van ons Universum.

De stroom van onmogelijkheid naar uniformiteit, van hoge onwaarschijnlijkheid naar hoge waarschijnlijkheid gaat gepaard met allerlei tussenstadia waarin de bestaande structuren de nieuwe structuren de weg wijzen.

De doorbraken in de meanderende stroompatronen maken beter gebruik van de huidige mogelijkheden maar de oude paden behouden lange tijd hun functie. Hierdoor is een stroomsysteem niet afhankelijk van één pad en is daardoor ook bestand tegen calamiteiten (bijv. een sterk verhoogde regenval in het stroomgebied van de rivier).

Het systeem waar de stroomsystemen onderdeel van uitmaken bestaat uit Machines (Constructal Engines) en Barrières (Brakes).

De machines en de barrieres zorgen ervoor dat de aarde niet te warm of te koud wordt.

De machines zoeken de weg van de minste weerstand, optimaliseren de stroom, bouwen structuren op, slopen de barrieres, produceren kinetische energie en minimaliseren de slijtage. De machines slechten het pad naar de Big Freeze waarin alles gelijk zal zijn en alles stil zal staan.

De barrières bevatten potentiële energie, leveren de weerstand om de minste weerstand te vinden, slopen de machines, optimaliseren daardoor de dissipatie en produceren een maximale hoeveelheid straling met een hogere golflengte als de binnenkomende zonnestraling die de aarde weer verlaat.

Produceren (Machines) en Consumeren (Vernietigen, Slijten) houden het wankele evenwicht van Moeder Aarde in stand.

De evolutie van ecologieën, steden, organismen (wet van Kleiber), talen (wet van Zipf), organen (de longen, bloedvaten), sporten en technologieclusters voldoen aan de Constructal Theory.

In 2002 hebben Holling en Gunderson het boek Panarchy: Understanding Transformations in Human and Natural Systems gepubliceerd.

Panarchy bevat een integrale visie op de evolutie en de adaptieve cyclus van  de constructal engines die men ecosystemen noemt.

Panarchy is ontstaan door het combineren van ogenschijnlijk conflicterende theorieën. Die theorieën leken conflicterend omdat ze betrekking hadden op de verschillende fasen (Zie Plaatje Phase Space hieronder) van de adaptieve cyclus die een ecologie doorloopt.

De combinatie van de vier mogelijke fasenruimten levert een op-en neergaande cyclus op waarin op een zeker moment een sprong (bifurcatie) wordt gemaakt naar een compleet nieuwe ruimte. Nadat deze sprong heeft plaatsvonden stopt de dynamiek van de oude ecologie.

De meest herkenbare fase is de Exploitatie-fase (B).  Dit is de opgaande lijn waarin de ecologie een hoge mate van orde bereikt en overschotten (Potential) produceert.

Aan het eind van deze fase neemt de potentie af en wordt er van alles gedaan om de levensduur van de ecologie zo lang mogelijk te rekken (C -Conservation). In deze fase zijn de structuren verouderd geraakt en zijn er op allerlei plaatsen reeds alternatieven (bypass) ontstaan die beter passen op de huidige vraag naar beweging.

De ecologie is in de conservatie-fase vrijwel tot stilstand gekomen en besteed al zijn energie aan het onderhouden  van zijn eigen structuur.

Tijdens de langzaam opgaande lijn van de Exploitatie-fase neemt de verbondenheid en vooral de afhankelijkheid (Connectedness) tussen de participanten onderling enorm toe waardoor de ecologie steeds kwetsbaarder wordt voor verstoringen.

De constructal engines in de ecologie gaan steeds efficienter samenwerken wat ten koste gaat van de diversiteit en de variatie in de ecologie.

De ecologie kan verstoringen opvangen totdat de  verschillende paden nog niet zijn dichtgeslibd maar een verstoring die alle paden tegelijkertijd raakt is dodelijk.

Op het laatst wordt de Veerkracht (Resilience) enorm op de proef gesteld en kan het gebeuren dat de Ecologie volledig ten onder gaat (Release) of na een grondige Reorganisatie weer aan een nieuwe levensloop kan beginnen.

De resilience van een ecologie wordt gemeten door de snelheid te meten waarmee een ecologie zich weer herstelt van een verstoring.

Volgens Panarchy beweegt een Ecologie zich op verschillende schalen en plaatsen en kan op die plaatsen in verschillende fasen verkeren waardoor er allerlei soorten van interactie mogelijk zijn. Hoe hoger de schaal hoe langzamer de cyclus verloopt. Hoge schalen dempen de fluctuaties van de lagere schalen.

Een snelle lokale reorganisatie kan zich plotseling heel snel verspreiden (een lopend vuur (Revolt)) terwijl een langzame geleidelijke ontwikkeling (een organisatie) een snelle ontwikkeling weer kan dempen of tot stilstand kan brengen (de organisatie van de Brandweer (Remember)).

Panarchy is een Zelf-Refererend Cyclus-Model dat bestaat uit Vier Fasen en (minstens) drie Schaalniveaus.  De panarchische golfbeweging bestaat uit twee stappen n.l. de  positieve weg Omhoog naar de Top (exploitation, conservation)  en de negatieve weg Omlaag naar het Dal (depressie, reorganization).

Op een bepaald moment kan de golfbeweging zich splitsen waardoor een nieuw (ander) niveau van organisatie optreedt. Deze sprongen doen zich volgens een vaste regelmaat voor.

Als we kijken naar terminologie en inhoud valt het op dat er een groot verband bestaat tussen Ecologische-, Economische- en Persoonlijkheidstheorien. De natuur, de economie en de mens lijken onderhevig te zijn aan dezelfde wetten.

De theorie over de Menselijke Natuur heeft erg veel weg van de Theorie die wij over de Natuur zelf hebben ontwikkeld. De mens is een zelfstandig bewegende ecologie, een stromend stroomsysteem waaraan een groot aantal participanten deelnemen.

Bacteria wisselen DNA uit

Die participanten hebben zich in de loop der tijd verenigd omdat een samenwerkingsverband veel efficienter bleek te zijn dan een solitaire ontwikkeling.

In het begin bestond het samenwerkingsverband uitsluitend uit simpele chemische fabriekjes, bacteriën, die genetische ontwerpinformatie (DNA) van hun fabriekjes uitwisselenden. De eerste fundamentele stap in de samenwerking van de bacterien was de statische spons. De mens heeft erg veel ontwerp-informatie gemeen met de spons.

Spons

Later gingen de organismen bewegen en waarnemen. Hierdoor gingen ze als individuen samenwerken met andere organismen die genetisch op hen leken (zie Genetic Similarity Theory).  Het uitwisselen en combineren van ontwerp-informatie ging gewoon door (sex).

In volgende fasen ontstonden er hogere ordeningen, zoals lichamen die lichamen konden bevatten (huizen, steden, vliegtuigen, onderzeeboten en auto’s).

Op dit moment is de (grote) stad het hoogste niveau van koppeling maar niets houdt de “Constructal Law” (of de Entropie) tegen om een ordening te gaan scheppen op  het niveau land of aarde.

Dat betekent dat er nieuwe slagaderen moeten komen om de ontwerp-informatie en de energie die tussen de grote steden gaat stromen te faciliteren. Overduidelijk is dat het Internet de basis vormt van het zenuwstelsel van de aardse informatievoorziening.

De thermodynamica is een statistische theorie. De kansverdeling van een Systeem wordt de Entropie van het Systeem genoemd.

Om een kans te kunnen berekenen moet je de kansruimte (de Phase Space) bepalen. Die bestaat uit alle mogelijkheden.

Het aardige is dat je niet hoeft te beschikken over kennis van alle combinaties van alle componenten van een specifiek systeem om erg veel te weten te komen over een kansruimte.

Je kunt gaan spelen met willekeurige componenten (a,b,c,d,e,….), de combinaties in een matrix stoppen, gaan tellen en patronen zoeken in de getallen die er dan worden gevonden. Je bent dan bezig met de statistiek van de statistiek of beter de waarschijnlijkheid van de waarschijnlijkheid. De mogelijke patronen worden beschreven in de Driehoek van Pascal.

Wat dan blijkt is dat er achter het patroon van Pascal weer een patroon zit (zie plaatje).  Dat patroon bevat wederom driehoeken en het is zeer waarschjinlijk dat er achter de driehoeken weer driehoeken zitten. Driehoeken in driehoeken in driehoeken in…. noemt men een fractal, een zelf-herhaling.

De  (on)waarschijnlijkheid is eigenlijk heel mooi en vooral ook simpel geordend en komt voort uit een zichzelf herhalend patroon, de Drie-Eenheid, dat in iedere godsdienst op aarde voorkomt.

Wetenschap en Godsdienst gaan uiteindelijk over hetzelfde.

A City is an Organism

The surprising math of cities and corporations

The System of Life is growing in size and in complexity, and so do the infrastructures sustaining it.

In 2008 the point was reached where more than 50% of the world population lives in cities. That percentage is growing. By 2030, over 60% of the world’s population – nearly five billion people – will be living in urban area.

The System of Life is generating Super Organisms and the City is one of them.

Urbanization is only a relatively recent phenomenon. As far as we now know urbanization started in Mesopotamia around 4000 – 3500 BC.

For the Ancient Mesopotamians, the cities were the centers of life. Their beginning of time was not a Garden of Eden, but rather an ancient site called Eridu, which they believed was the first city ever to be created.  The creator of Eridu was Enki, the God who came out of the Deep Waters of the Ocean  (the Abzu). The city of Eridu was destroyed by the Great Flood in 3117 BC.

Every time one of the Rulers of a City took control over many Cities and a State was created with a new Center, the Capital. In the Center of the Capital the Palace of the Ruler was situated. What we see is an Expanding Pattern in which the same Structure repeats itself all the Time.

Initially the two life-essential resources for cities were Water and Food.

As Cities grew and as technology evolved, the supply of these resources became dependent on energy for processing, for pumps and for transportation. In the process, cities and their resources evolved into a system of life energized by the individuals that populate cities, and fuel its dynamics.

About the Law of Kleiber

The Law of Kleiber shows that Bottum-Up Structures are more efficient than Top-Down Structures.

It also shows that Big Structures are more efficient than Small Structures. The Law is applicable from the level of the Bacteria to the Level of the City and higher.

These two statements are a contradiction until we realize that there are two ways of looking at the same structure. One view is the Top-Down View. The other is the Bottom Up View. When we look Down we see a huge Hierarchy and start to believe that Big is Beautiful.

When we look Up we see that all the work is done by Small Cooperative Components starting at the Bottom with the Bacteria.

The Law of Kleiber is explained by the fact that all the organisms (including the Cities) contain the Same Fractal Structure.

About DNA

In the Beginning the Chemical Soup generated Self-Reproducing Chemical Factories. These Factories combined into bigger Factories by exchanging and combining their Factory-Designs (DNA-parts).

Every time when the Factories fused they became more Efficient, Bigger, Stronger, Older and therefore more Competitive. When the Factories became more Competitive they started to Protect themselves against the other Factories.

To Protect themselves the Multi-Cellular Systems began to Sense in Many Directions and became better and better in Predicting the Future.

One of our Ancient Ancestors is the Sponge which is a static Cluster of Bacteria. Scientist have detected that the DNA of the Sponge has a lot in common with the Human DNA. The Sponge contains the Basic Fractal Structure, the Tube.

In a later stage our Ancestors developed something we call a Brain. The Brain is used to Sense the Now and Predict the Future.

The Human is a Moving Sponge who is able to Imagine. With his Imagination the Human is capable to Change the Future (and the Past).

About Innovation

The Law of Kleiber can be explained by the principle of Self-Reference (Similarity,  Fractals).

The Small Structures at the Bottum combine into comparable structures on a higher level.

What we don’t see is that the structures on every level can be decomposed in the Same (DNA-)Components with a different Scale and a different Name.

Innovation is nothing but a  Combination of  the Components in many different ways until all the combinations are made.

At that moment One of the Combinations becomes the new DNA and a new Level is explored.

Life explores every possible path.

About Cities

A City is a Combination of Houses.

A City protects a Cluster of Houses. A House protects a Cluster of Humans and a Human protects a Cluster of Organs.

All the way down to the Bacteria,  Cooperative Clusters are formed that give the participants a more Secure Way to Live.

A House is a Body. It supports the Body but it also contains all the Bodily Functions.

If we provide the House with these Bodily Functions the House becomes more Sustainable. It is possible to regenerate the Waste that the Humans produce into Energy just as the Liver is doing in our Body.

If we Cluster the Bodily Houses into a City and we provide the City with the same functions of the Body we are able to create structures that are independent of the input of external Top-Down Sources of Energy and Food.

If we are able to detect the DNA of the House and the DNA of the City we are able to Compose new Types of Houses and Cities that are Adaptable, Scalable,  highly Sustainable and are also in Balance with Nature.

It will also be  much more easy to Destroy or Move buildings and cities to another Place without the production of Waste.

About Synchronization

In the Miedeval City the Major Cycle was the Cycle of the Seasons. In the Modern City we have become almost independent of the Cycles. We import Food and Energy out of every place in the World.

It takes a Lot of Energy to transport the Food and Energy and Many Places on Earth are dependent on a small amount of other Places that contain the Sources of our always increasing Need to Survive the Effects of our Environment.

When a lot of People (The Slaves) are dependent on a small amount of people (The Masters), the Masters start to dominate the others and increase their Power until Eternity. Power is the most important Addiction of the Humans.

The problem becomes bigger when we realize that many people are producing Food and Energy but are themselves not able to use the Food and the Energy they are producing.

The independence of the Cycles has created a huge unbalance. This unbalance is not only visible in the City but in every place on Earth that is providing Energy and Food to sustain the Modern City.

The only solution to this problem is to create self-sustaining (autarkic) Cities that are able to supply their own food, water  and energy.

When we want to restore Balance we have to Synchronize the Cycles in the City.  This can be done with the help of Smart Technology (Sensors, Actuators, Analytics) but we can also make use of very old fashioned techniques that were used in the Middle Ages.

When Humans communicate from the Heart and focus on the same subject, the Humans start to Synchronize. They become a  Group.

The most important structure in the Miedeval City to Synchronize its inhabitants was the Building of the Heart, the Church.   The Church was always situated in the Center and was visible from a long distance. The Church was also the only place where people were always Protected.

The Human Heart is doing the same thing as the Church is doing in the City. It connects the Mind with the Organs of  the Body and the Pericardium provides one of the major Rythms of the Human Body.

If we want to Synchronize the City we have to create a Center where People are able to Commun(e)nicate about the Shared Goals of the City. The most important way to share can be found in the Human Culture. The Centres have to contain all the ways Human Culture is performed.

About the Memory Palace

Art, Music and Singing were United in the Medieval Cathedrals. The Medieval Cathedrals also contained all the Knowledge (The Memory Palace)  that was needed to understand the Universe.

If we want to Synchronize the Modern City we have to build Modern Cathedrals in the Center of the Center and use them as Places to Commune, to Educate, to Make Music, to Dance and to Sing.

We have to design them as Modern Memory Palaces (Simulators) to teach the Masses about the Fractal Universe and give them Feedback about the State of their own Environment.

A power law relates one variable to another raised to a constant power. The general form takes y = xa, where y and x are variables, and a is a constant exponent.

A power law exhibits the property of scale invariance. When you multiply the Scale (x) with a factor b the function (y =  baxa) does not change its Shape.

In 1817 Goethe wrote his book ”Zur Morphologie“. This book was the start of a new science called Morphology, the Science of the Shapes.

In his book Goethe describes the so called Uhrplant, the Primal Plant, which is based on the shape of the Leaf. Goethe believed that every Plant was a Leaf within a Leaf within a Leaf.

At the time of Goethe the concept of the fractal was not known. It was developed in 1975 by Benois Mandelbrot (“The Fractal Geometry of Nature”).

A fractal is a self-similar structure. It’s shape repeats itself on every level of expansion.  Some fractals are scale-invariant.

About Kleiber’s Law

Metabolism is the process by which your body converts what you eat and drink into energy. During this complex biochemical process, calories in food and beverages are combined with oxygen to release the energy your body needs to function.

The oldest and best known Power Law is Kleiber’s law devised by the Swiss-American zoologist Max Kleiber in 1932.

Kleiber’s Law, MR = W3/4, describes the relationship of the metabolic rate (MR) to the biomass W, raised to an exponent.

Kleiber’s law means that a cat’s metabolic rate is not a hundred or 21.5 times greater than a mouse’s, but about 31.6 — 100 to the three-quarter power.

This relationship seems to hold across the animal kingdom  and it has since been extended all the way down to single-celled organisms, and possibly within the cells themselves to the internal structures called mitochondria, the cellular powerplants, that turn nutrients into energy. Mitochondria have many features in common with bacteria.

The law of Kleiber is  also applicable to super-organisms” like ant colonies, Cities and Eco-Systems.

Because of Economies of Scale, larger and more complex forms of organisms need less energy for each individual cell. They grow and reproduce more slowly and they live longer.

About Fractals and Kleiber’s Law

Kleiber’s law can be explained from a general model that describes how essentialmaterials are transported through Space-Filling Fractal Networks of Branching Tubes.

Goethe was right. The leaf is a one of the fundamental structures of Nature.

The factor 3/4 (3/3+1)  is a consequence of the fact that a Fractal Structure has to incorporate a not-Fractal Structure, 3-Dimensional Space.

About Bilateria

About 590 million years ago, the Central Nervous System (CNS), the Brain, appeared.

The organisms with a CNS (including the Humans), the Bilateria, are able to Act and React to a Possible Harmful Stimulus.

The CNS of the Bilateria is  a result of  an Increase in Competition between the Life Forms that came out of the Continuing Fusion of  the Cooperative Life Forms, the Bacteria. The first step in this proces was the Tube of the Sponge.

The fundamental Bilaterian Body Shape is a Tube running from Mouth to Anus, and a second Tube called the Notochord, with an especially large Sphere at the front, called the “Brain“.

The Bilateria have Five Body Spheres (1) the Brain; (2) the Spinal Cord; (3) the Heart and Lungs; (4) the Digestive Organs and Kidneys; (5) the Bladder and Reproductive organs.

About the Tiny Spheres of the Lungs

When we look at the Lungs, one of the Fractal Tube-like branching-structures of the human organism, we can see that the Branches end in Nodes called the alveoli (“little cavities“). The end-nodes of the branching system are tiny Spheres.

In the tiny Spheres the Exchange takes place of Carbon Dioxide and Oxygen between the Lungs and the Blood-Vessels. Each human lung contains about 600 million alveoli.

Water diffuses from the alveoli cells into the alveoli so that they are constantly moist.  Oxygen dissolves in this water before diffusing through the cells into the blood.

The Oxygen-rich blood returns to the Heart via the pulmonary veins to be pumped back into circulation. The Carbon Dioxide is pumped out by the Lungs.

In the many million Small Spherical End-Nodes Two Circulatory Systems, the Cardiovascular System (Heart) and Pulmonary System (Lungs), are Connected.

The Big Structures of Nature are able to Scale because the Connection-Points of the Networks are Very Small.

They are reusable on Every Scale that is Bigger than the Scale of the Connection Points.

We will see that all the other Fractal Systems in our Body are based on the Same Principle.

Villi

About the Tube of the Digestive System

The Tube contains the Digestive System. It breaks-down larger food molecules into smaller ones that can be absorbed into the blood stream. This happens in the Small Intestine in the vili and microvilli.

The villi (“shaggy hair“)  are tiny, finger-like projections that are approximately 0.5-1mm in length. The microvilli are mechanosensors and have a lot in common with the flagellum (“the roter“) of a bacterium. Microvilli appear in many places in the body. They are also of importance on the cell surface of white blood cells, as they aid in the migration of white blood cells.

The Tube of our Digestive System is highly similar to the Tube of the Sponge, the first fusion of the Bacteria in a  more efficient metabolic structure.

The Output part of the Tube is called the Large Intestine (Colon). Its function is to absorb water from the remaining indigestible food matter, and then to pass Useless Waste Material from the body. The large intestine houses over 700 species of bacteria that perform a variety of functions.

Liver

About the Chemical Factory of the Liver Cell.

The Liver is  a Fractal Branching System that detoxifies harmful substances absorbed via the Small Intestines.  It’s basic structure is the Liver Cell.

The Chemical reactions in the liver cells produces a lot of waste heat. This is carried round the body in the blood and warms less active regions.

The Liver regulates the amount of Blood Sugar, Lipids, Amino Acids.  The Liver is the Storage House of  Blood, Iron, Vitamine A, D, B12  and Clycogen, the Source of Energy of the Body.

The Liver produces Bile that is stored in the Gall Bladder. Bile is used to dissolve fat.

About the Spleen and the Immune System

Another Fractal Branching System, the Lymphatic System ( “The Immune System“, Spleen),  maintains the health of the body by protecting it from invasions by harmful pathogens, such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites. These pathogens are the cause of many diseases, so it is necessary to detect and eliminate them rapidly.

The Lymphatic System is connected to the Blood System and produces the White Blood Cells (Lymphocites).  The Lymphocites are the Basic Unit of the Human Defense System. They look like Bacteria.

The surface of a lymphocyte is covered with a large number of identical receptors. Recognition and destruction occurs when the receptors of the lymphocyte fit like a key into the surface of the pathogen.

The Immune System is a Highly Adaptive System. It is able to generate new types of Lymphocites out of a Library of DNA-components.

Nephron

About the Kidneys and the Bladder

The Kidneys serve the body as a natural filter of the blood, and remove wastes which are diverted to the urinary bladder. The Nephron is the basic structural and functional unit of the kidney. In humans, a normal kidney contains 800,000 to 1.5 million nephrons. Nephrons are wave-like structures. Its chief function is to regulate the concentration of water and soluble substances like sodium salts by filtering the blood.

About the Electro Magnetic System

The last  Fractal Branching System, the Meridians, is a Fast Electro-Magnetic Channel that connects to Organs to the Spine and the CNS.

The Ancient Chinese Scientists believed that this System pumps its Energy, the Chi Force, out of the Earth Magnetic Field.

The Ancient Egyptian Scientists believed the same thing. They named  the Four Cavities the Four Suns of Horus and the Spine, the Djed Pillar (Dj means “Snake”).

About the number Five

The number Five (4 +1 ) plays an important role in Ancient Chinese Medicine.

The Central Fractal System, the One (1), the Fire System, the Blood System, with its Center the Heart,  contains Four (4) Links to the Other Systems.

The Four Systems are combinations of Two Forces, Expansion and Compression.

The Two Forces came out of One Force (“The Void“).

Two Systems contain the same combination (Expansion x Expansion (Wood, Gall Bladder, Liver, Three Heater), Compression x Compression (Metal, Lungs)).

Two Systems combine Expansion and Compression in a different order (Expansion x Compression, Compression x Expansion). They create a Wave (Water, Bladder, Kidney) or Spiral -like (Earth, Immune System) structures.

The Five Spheres of the Body are incorporated in one Super Protective Sphere, the Coelum, the Skin.

In the Human Embryo the First step of Division of the Cells is between the Coelum,the Multi-Cellar Body, and the Brain, the CNS. In the first step the One was divided into the Two, the Actor and the Monitor.

The CNS  “mirrors” the activities of  the Body and acts as a “predictive simulator”.

The Shape of the CNS is a mirror (Up-Side-Down) of the Shape of the Multic-Cellular Body.

The Bilateria are a Fuse of two Organisms in which one organism changed into the Body and the other changed into the Brain.

These two structures are always competing in the Human Being.

The Brain is Looking Up at the Sky. The Body is Looking Down at Mother Earth, it’s Creator.

The Brain and the Body are United in  the Heart, the Balancer of Body and Soul and the Keeper of the Rhythm (The Pericardium).

Sponge

About Bacteria

The Body Shape of the Tube was inherited from the first Multi-Cellular Organism, the Sponge. The Sponge is a  Static Cluster of Amoeba, free moving bacteria, that are propelled by their flagellum (a Roter).

Bacterium

Bacteria are small chemical factories that are able to share and combine their production processes by exchanging DNA.

With their flagellum the Bacteria Explore the environment to find the chemical food they need. When they have found food the Circulation of the Flagellum moves into the Opposite Direction.

The bacterium integrates incoming chemical signals during a few-second period of its travels, and adjusts its direction of advance accordingly.

The integration is achieved through temporary chemical modifications to molecules located in the bounding membrane, which transfer nutrients to the cytoplasm, and also through changes to certain other molecules in the interior of the cell. Such integration is essentially a short-term memory mechanism.

Bacteria exchange their DNA

At a certain moment the Bacteria got together because the Sponge is a much more Efficient Metabolic Structure than a group of Free Moving Bacteria.

Strangely enough the DNA of the Sponge already contains the complete Bleuprint of the Humans.

Scientists now believe that most species on earth are a result of a loss of DNA from the original Bleuprint that was created when the Bacteria finally fused into one Organism.

About the Nano-Level

Recently scientists have found Electric Fields as strong as 15 million volts per meter in the Nano-Parts of the Cells. These fields are as strong as those produced in lightning bolts.

It’s not clear what causes these strong fields or what they might mean but they could account for a until now unknown (by Science) or well-known (by the Old Scientists, Chi) Source of  Bodily Energy.

The nano-parts of the Cell could be the very very very small universal building blocks of Nature.

What has Happened?

In the beginning the Chemical Soup generated Self-Reproducing Chemical Factories.

These Factories combined into bigger Factories by exchanging and combining their factory-designs.

Every time when the Factories fused they became more Efficient, Bigger, Stronger, Older and therefore more Competitive.

When the Factories became more competitive they had to Protect themselves against the other Factories.

To Protect themselves the Multi-Cellular Systems started to Sense in Many Directions.

In the first step a Nerve-Net was created.

In the second step one part of the Organism turned Upside-Down and became a Specialized Predictive System (the CNS).

This part fused with the Bodily Part creating one Organism that contained Two Organisms.

The Bilateria, the Organisms with Two Complementary Parts, Body and Mind, were born.

Some of the Bilateria called Humans fused in Social Structures and the Social Structures fused and fused and became more efficient, bigger, stronger, older and therefore more competitive.

In due time they will Rule the Earth and will start to create bigger and bigger systems until they will rule the complete Universe.

To make this possible the Humans need every other part of Nature to Sustain their Growth. This will certainly result in a huge Collapse of their own Eco-System.

The main reason this is happening is that the Humans forgot to Copy the Designs of Mother Nature.

The Brain (Thinking and Sensing, Left Brain), Looking Up at the Sky,  believed it could do a much Better Job than it’s counterpart the Multi-Cellular Body (Emotions and Imagination, Right Brain), Looking Down at the Earth, the Source of All Creation.

Kleiber’s Law shows that we are now using 122 times more Energy per Person than we really would need if we would Scale in the right way.

What can we learn from Kleiber’s Law?

All organisms including the humans depend for their maintenance and reproduction on the close integration of numerous subunits.

These components need to be serviced in a relatively `democratic’ and efficient fashionto supply energy, remove waste  and regulate activity.

Natural Selection solved this problem byevolving hierarchical fractal-like branching networks, whichdistribute Energy, Information and Materials between Big Reservoirs (“Lungs”) and Small Connection Points (“Alveoli”) of other Circulatory Systems (“Blood”).

This Fractal Bottum-Up approach is highly effective and efficient.

The not-fractal, Top-Down,  machinery designed by the Humans is Scaled with a factor 1 so we can improve a lot by copying Mother Nature.
