The work of Bakhtin was disclosed to me by Will McWhinney. He used Bahktin in one of the many versions of his never published book Grammars of Engagement.

0 Introduction

The discovery of Bakhtin started with a book about Bahktin by Saul Morson & Caryl Emerson.

Later I also read many other books and articles like “The dialogical imagination”, “Towards a philosophy of the act”, “Discourse in the Novel”, “Rabelais and His World”, “Problems of Dostoevsky’s Poetics” and “Speech Genres and Other Late Essays”.

1 Chronotope

Bakhtin invented the term Chronotope, “The place where the knots of narrative are tied” or “the intrinsic connectedness of temporal and spatial relationships that are artistically expressed in literature“.

Currently we use the term Content or Media for Literature.

A Chronotope is a Topological Concept

Space (Place, Location) and Time (the narrative) are connected by a Knot.

A knot is a complicated twist in a rope.

The twist is needed when you want to close a system in itself.

The simplest topological structure that visualizes twisted space/time is the Moebius Ring.

2 Narratives

The Chronotope is the Centre out of which every narrative that we are able to tell is enfolding and unfolding.

It produces narratives and absorbs narratives.

Bahktin places Folk-Lore, Myth, the Language of the People, in the Centre.

Every narrative contains a twist, a moment where the expansion of the beginning turns to the contraction of the end.

It is the moment where the narrative is balanced. The reader holds his breath.

It is also the moment where the narrative is aware of itself. It observes the whole.

Sometimes the twist is in the end. You know “who done it”.

Sometimes the narrative starts with the twist. There are even narratives without a twist. You know all the time what will happen.

Scientists don’t realize that a scientific article is also a narrative.

They use citation to prove they are telling a true story.

Funny enough scientific citation has created the Internet. A hypertext is nothing but a citation-structure.

3 Citation

Old narratives produce new narratives. This is always accomplished by Citation. “The word in language is half someone else’s.

It becomes “one’s own” only when the speaker populates it with his own intention, his own accent, when he appropriates the word, adapting it to his own semantic and expressive intention.

Prior to this moment of appropriation, the word does not exist in a neutral and impersonal language. . . but rather it exists in other people’s mouths,

in other people’s contexts, serving other people’s intentions: it is from there that one must take the word, and make it one’s own“”. The cursive sentence between brackets is a citation of Bahktin.

4 Dialoque

New narratives also oppose old narratives. They are Dialogic. “The entire life of language, in any area of its use . . . is permeated with dialogic relationships“.

Dialogues are converging (Socratic dialogue), diverging and conflicting (Menippian Dialogue) or one sided (the Magisterial Monologue).

“Thus at any given moment of its historical existence, language is heteroglot from top to bottom:

it represents the co-existence of socio-ideological contradictions between the present and the past, between differing epochs of the past, between different socio-ideological groups in the present, between tendencies, schools, circles and so forth”

The Centre generates new narratives all the time.

They are a mix of the old and the new.

The centre is the Centrifugal Force and this force is powered by Contradiction.

5 Monoloque

The Institutions, the Ruling Power, are constantly trying to standardize (the Centripetal force). They formulate rules and try to transform the dialogue into a monologue.

The centripetal and the centrifugal force create a huge tension.

This tension moves the Wheel of Creation. The wheel always moves through the stages of Order and Chaos. In the middle of the Tornado of Creation is the Centre, the Chronotope. In the centre you will always find rest and inspiration.

The monologue (the magisterial dialogue) is the dialogue of the Magister, the scientist, the manager, the judge, the physician and the teacher.

They use science, the law, books or other Magisters to enforce their power. By formulating rules they try to destroy the creative centre (the context).

6 Context

“A context is potentially unfinalized; a code must be finalized. A code is only a technical means of transmitting information; it does not have cognitive, creative significance. Code is deliberately killed context“.

At this moment the Centripetal force is implemented in the Search Engine.

Narratives are found by typing codes. This makes it very difficult to find a context. Companies like Google are manipulating the coding. They are paid by the Centripetal Force of the Commercial Companies.

Creation

The centrifugal force is never at rest. It always generates new alternatives.

The creation of new literature is not bounded by rules. Every time a new structure is defined the Centre starts to play with the rules and generates a new combination.

The Centre is not only combining rules it even invents new rules. The Centre is the inventor of new Games to Play.

Producing literature is a process of spiralling out.

It follows a cycle but at a certain point in time a new Centre appears and the Cycle starts a new process of Folk-lore.

The new centre is always connected to the old Centre. New myths and new fairy tales are created that are a representation of the Spirit of the Time.

With and Against the Clock

Every cycle is governed by a Clock.

The periodicity of the Clocks is determinated by the number five. It runs at a frequency of 1250, 250, 50, 10 or 2 years. There are frequencies that are moving faster (the Atom) and much slower (the Universe).

Bahktin has developed a very interesting theory about the development of the Chronotopes in history.

7 The Cycle of Western Culture

The Sheng Cycle.is the result of **Connecting** the points of a 3×3 **Magic** Square called the Lo Shu. The cycle can be mapped on Paths of Change wich is a variant of the Quaternio (**Fourfold**) of Carl Jung.

**Cycle generato**r based on the **Chinese** **Sheng Cycle**. The wave is a Sinus related to Harmonic Theory.

Cycles

This theory was reinvented by Ray Tomes when het researched the data of the Institute of the Cycles created by US Government to explain the Great Depression.

The Kondratiev cycle has a periodicity of 50 years. The cycle is created by using the Sheng Cycle generated by the Lo Shu.

The Bahktin Cycle. The cycle is generated with the Lo Shu also with a Periodicity of 250 Years.

I will tell the Tale of the Chronotopes of Bahktin on the level of the Cycle of Culture (P= 1250 .years, 250years per stage).

Between 450 and 700 the Roman Empire is destroyed by the Huns. It is the time of the Great Deportations. People out of Asia move to the West. They are the ancestors of the Ostrogotes, the Visigotes, the Franks, the Gauls, the Germans and the Celts. 1250 years later they are integrated in what we now call Europe. Between 700 and 2000 the Europeans explore and conquer the World.

Around 1200 the new powers have created many Kingdoms and have organized the Crusades to conquer the Holy Land. To show their power they build the Cathedrals. The Cathedrals are the instrument of the Education of the Masses. The old folk-lore is transformed to the new of the Christian Faith. The old-folklore is not destroyed. Many symbols and important events are preserved. They are cited. The transition of the Sun in Winter is transformed in Christmas. The new apostles are connected to the old animals of the old Wheel of Fortune.

Between 1200 and 1450 the Chronotope of the Greek Romance (Tristan and Isolde, Arthur and The Grail) appears. It is the Chronotope of Being and Destiny. “There are a lot of suddenly’s”. Everything happens. The actor in this Chronotope is without identity. He is tested by destiny. When he has passed the test he is not changed. There is no time and space. Time (“adventure-time”) is reversible. The actors are public figures and space is public space. In the narratives we are able to see and hear everything.

We are in the Middle Ages. In the outside world destiny is also playing its evil game. Western Civilization is almost destroyed by the plague, feminine and wars between the Kingdoms. Even the Christian Empire of Rome is divided by a schism (Byzantium). At the end only a few Kingdoms survive. These Kings become Emperors. They represent God on Earth.

This (1450-1700) is the time of the Chronotope of the Adventure. It is the Chronotope of Becoming. The identity of the actor is transforming. He is responsible for his own actions. Life is full of turning points (twists). The actor wants to take control of the outside world. Space becomes “private space”.

To give the reader insight in what is happening the Observer is introduced. He is a voyeur, a prostitute, a rambler, a rover, a tramp, a spy, a servant or an animal. The observer is not influencing the story at all. He is just watching. Objectivity is also introduced in space (court).

In the outside world we are in the Time of Renaissance (the Era of Discovery). It is the time of new inventions in Science (Copernicus), Art (Leonard Da Vinci) and Religion (Reformation, Luther, Calvin). The Bible is translated in the language of the people. It is also the time of the Great Explorations (Columbus) of the world outside the West. Western Culture starts his quest to control Nature and eventually the World.

The next Chronotope is the Biography (1700-1950), the praise of a public figure who has accomplished something in life. We are moving from the outside world to the inside world of the actor.

Inner space is closed. “This offers a new relationship to one’s own self, one’s own particular “I”- with no witnesses, without any concessions to the voice of a “third person“.

Outside events affect the inner world. The actor is not showing this. In the outside world the actor is judged by his actions and not by his inner space (his essence). “The essence of man is realized not by his condition but by his activity“.

To give the reader a view on the inner space the outsider is introduced. His outside actions are governed by a distorted inner space. The outsider (the fool, the eccentric) acts as a reference.

The actor is a pretender. He is constantly in doubt, grumbling, cynical and sarcastic. He is also passive. He is watching from a distance. Everything is Relative (Bahktin was a fan of Einstein). The only time when the actor is able to show himself is at the carnival. During this short period he is allowed to choose his own mask.

This is the time of the Industrial Revolution. It is the era of mechanization. It starts with the invention of the Mill and the Factory. It ends with the mechanized Consumer watching Television.

Starting in 1950 we are again in the phase of Folk-lore. Western Civilization is moving to a new Centre, Earth.

New myths and legends will be created. They have to be based on all the tales, myths and legends that are available on Earth. Some of them will be a citation. Others will be an opposition.

All kinds of dialogues will take and have to take place. We will experience many conflicts (Mennipian Dialogue). We will also have to listen and ask questions to understand the other cultures (Socratic Dialogue). We have to stop our Western Magisterial Monologue.

8 Heteroglossia

In the beginning it will be a Heteroglossia (a many voicedness), a very complicated Knot we have to untie. When we have found the tread we will be able to weave a new web of narratives that will start the phase of the Greek Romance again.

Between now and 2100 “We must make the new by our own effort”.“We have to face problems of reality and human potential, problems of freedom and necessity, and the problem of creative initiative“. We have to become persons “who emerge along with the world and reflect the historical emergence of the world itself”.

“In order to understand, it is immensely important for the person who understands to be located outside the object of his or her creative understanding — in time, in space, in culture. . . . Our real exterior can be seen and understood only by other people, because they are located outside us in space and because they are others”

We have to write our own Novel. “There is no causality in novels, no genesis, no explanations based on the past, on the influences of the environment or of upbringing and so forth. Every act a character commits is in the present, and in this sense is not predetermined”.

We have to act without hesitation and leave history behind. There is no experience we can reuse. The future is unfinalized (open).

The Magisters are not able to tell us what to do. They are out of tricks. We have to put off our own masks and take responsibility for what we are doing. “There is no alibi for being”. We have to stop pretending and use citations of others to prove we are right.

9 Carnival

We are now part of the Worldwide Carnival of Fools. Choose your mask out of the many masks that are available all over the world. Listen to the stories of other cultures and be surprised about the beauty and the experience they are containing. Give the Fools and the Eccentrics, the Outsiders, a chance to help you.

Laugh.

It will be fun.

I want to close with a citation of Paul Feyerabend (Killing Time (1995)): “People, intellectuals especially, seem unable to be content with a little more freedom, a little more happiness, a little more light. Perceiving a small advantage, they seize it, circumscribe it, nail it down, and in this way prepare a New Age of ignorance, darkness and slavery. It is rather surprising that there are still people who want to help others for personal reasons, because they are kindhearted and because they have not been intimidated by principles. It is even more surprising that some of the people can work in institutions despite the greed, the incompetence, the power struggles that seem to surround the noblest cause.”

10 Towards a Philosophy of the Act

Many people think I am a very intelligent person. I am able to solve very complex problems in a very short time. In reality I am a normal person. I use a trick. The trick is called Mapping.

I map a complex unknown domain to a well known simple domain. I sol]]><![CDATA[ve the problem in the well know domain and map the solution back to the unknown domain. When I do that the unknown domain becomes simple again.

The well-known domain I use are the Seasons of The Year. People don’t believe the Seasons are a representation of the world we live in.

About a year ago I discovered the reason.

Everybody in the West believes the theory of reasoning of the Greek philosopher Aristotle. The theory of Aristotle is called causal reasoning.

I use causal reasoning when I am writing this article. I need causal reasoning to convince you. The only way to convince Western people is to use causal reasoning.

What I will show you is that causal reasoning creates many problems that are unsolvable. To solve these problems you have to move to another way of reasoning. What Western people don’t want to accept is that there are other and more effective ways to reason. The other way to reason was used before Aristotle was born.

This approach is more than 2000 years old. It originated in the Middle East (China & Persia). Western people don’t accept this. They are trained to believe that the people that used these “more advanced” approaches were stupid. They believe “The West is the Best” in everything.

They also believe that when we go back in history we see a down-ward spiral of knowledge. Western civilisation is always “Going UP”. We will become better and better and better until infinity.

What they don’t see is that Causal Reasoning creates a big problem.

When you believe everything has a cause you start to look for the cause of the cause and when you start to look for the cause of the cause you never stop looking for the next cause.

Because you don’t have infinite time to look for the infinite chain of causes you have to find a solution. The solution is named “Creation”.

Somewhere there is a beginning and in the beginning something or somebody is creating “Something out of Nothing”. When you are religious you name the creator God. When you are not religious you name the first cause The Big Bang.

After you have named the creator you stop wondering what “creation out of nothing” really is. You force yourself to believe. You force yourself to believe the Church or you force yourself to believe Science. When you believe the Church you have to believe in a Supreme Power.

When you believe in Science You have to believe Others. Most people believe the Others of Science are very intelligent. If you believe these others are very intelligent you have to believe there are also people that are not intelligent. We have named “not intelligent” “Stupid”.

The Belief that causal thinking is the only way to think does not only generate the idea that you are stupid. It also generated the idea that you are guilty of something. You are guilty of something when you are the cause of something that went wrong. When a human is doing something wrong it is named “Sin”.

When you believe in Sin and you believe in causal thinking you have to believe there is a Creator of Sin. The creator of Sin is named the Devil. Because God created everything you have to assume God also created the Devil. When you believe in a Supreme Power you don’t understand why a Supreme Power is not able to beat The Devil. Because you are “stupid” you stop wondering. You have to believe.

A “creation out of nothing” is a Miracle. When you believe in a Miracle you believe in Luck. You hope you will be lucky someday. When you are religious You don’t understand why God is helping the other and not You. To explain this You believe you are doing something wrong. You are stupid or sinful.

When you believe the intelligent people, you have to believe in the theory of probability. To improve your behaviour you start to collect data. You use statistical packages to find the pattern. This is not helping you at all because still some people are lucky and you are not. You are doing something wrong (you are stupid) or you do not believe in Him. You are sinful.

If you use causal reasoning you are able to find a solution. You have to assume that the beginning is the end. You have to close the causal chain in itself. When you close the chain the chain is transformed in a circle. If you do that you have moved to another way of thinking and the other way of thinking is “impossible”.

It creates a problem you cannot solve. In a Circle it is very difficult to find the beginning. Every point in a circle is a beginning. If you assume this point is the beginning it is also the ending. The causal solution is to assume that the circle is contracted into one point. Everything is one point. Everything is One.

This violates your Sensory perception. You observe Many Many Others. This is a contradiction and you stop this path of reasoning.

The “old cultures” have found a solution. They use the principle of unfolding and enfolding.

A Flower is an unfolding of One Seed. A Flower enfolds in Many Seeds. In Spring the Seeds grow into a Plant. In Summer the Plant produces Flowers and the Flowers produce Seeds. In Autumn the Seeds are covered by Earth and in Winter Earth protects the Seed.

What we observe with our Senses is a Cycle and the Cycle contains Stages. If we look around we see many Cycles and all of the Cycles contain the same stages.

If we look carefully we observe five stages. We observe the Four Seasons and a Fifth Season between Summer and Autumn. In other climate zones the fifth season is easy to experience. In the US it is called Indian Summer.

Before Aristotle the principle of unfolding based on a cycle divided in five stages was the most important theory to explain the world.

To explain the world every thing that happened was mapped to the Cycle of the Seasons.

The solar system, the universe, the body, the state, history and every else was governed by the same cycle. They are Wholes that are moving around Wholes that are moving around Wholes …..

They are The Same because every thing is moving through the Same Stages. They are also Different because they operate on a different Level.

Levels are a problem Western Civilization cannot handle. We believe in one level, the chain of cause and effect. We are constantly connecting different levels. Connecting different levels at the wrong connection point is really the main cause of the mess we are in.

The cycles on different levels are moving with a different periodicity (frequency). They act like waves. The Scientists of that time discovered that the frequencies were also related by a pattern of fives.

Thinking in waves is a way of thinking Western Civilization cannot handle. We think in particles that are colliding. Again this is a simple consequence of causal thinking.

Slow moving cycles are the unfolding of fast moving cycles. An unfolding cycle is a Spiral. Because everything is closed the Spiral had to be closed in itself. It is transformed into a Spiralling Spiral. The Spiralling Spiral is moving UP AND moving DOWN. This violates Western Thinking because we only believe in Spiralling UP. We don’t believe Western Civilization will disappear someday just like all the other civilizations before us.

We don’t believe the Spiralling Spiral works like a Clock. The cycles are moving in a highly predictable pattern. In the West we believe in statistics and statistics shows that every predictable pattern has its exceptions.

Every cycle is governed by a Clock. You are also governed by a Clock and if you don’t listen to your Clock you become ill. You get “out of rhythm”. Going “out of rhythm” is the main cause of all the Western diseases.

We really don’t believe Einstein. Everybody believes the Myth that he has failed. Many people don’t know that one of his pupils David Böhm found the solution. Einstein believed that “God is not throwing dice”. He also believed “God is a geometer”.

Although the new Psychics are showing that Einstein and Böhm were right and Niels Bohr (Quantum Mechanics) was wrong we are really afraid to believe this. It violates the foundation of Western Civilization.

We love the theory of Quantum Mechanics because it proves the world is a Miracle. People don’t understand Quantum Mechanics at all. Quantum Mechanics acts like a Religion and a Religion is based on the Mystery of “Creation out of Nothing”. Quantum Mechanics proves this is “really happening”. This gives us a good feeling. The foundation of Western Civilization is proved again.

We don’t want to believe that Civilizations rise and fall.

We also don’t want to believe is that long ago these civilizations were more advanced than our society.

What we really don’t want to believe is that they were destroyed because they fell into the same trap Western Civilization is falling. We don’t accept the lessons of history. We believe the old myths were fantasy stories. Just like the old civilizations we don’t see that we are now living in our own fantasy world. The fantasy of eternal youth and eternal life.

What we don’t want to believe is that the old civilizations even found a solution for this problem. The solution they found is not a material solution. They found out that the power of the human imagination is tremendous. When Western Science is proving this we don’t want to believe Western Science.

We are really very funny people! The solution for everything we want is round the corner and we don’t accept this solution.

Now I am able to explain my trick.

Step 1. Determine the level of observation. The level of observation is related to the periodicity of the cycle. An organization is often related to a yearly cycle.

Step 2. Determine the five stages in the cycle. Use the seasons. Observe carefully what every season mean to you.

If you want to reuse the knowledge of the scientists before Aristotle I advice you to study Chinese Philosophy. People with a mathematical interest have a look at Pythagoras or (better) Topology. People with a psychological interest read Jung, Will McWhinney or George Lakoff (!!). People with an interest in literature study Bahktin (!!). People with in interest in medicine study Acupuncture. People with an interest in Christian religion read the gospel of Thomas (The Essenes). People with an interest in Paintings have a look at Leonardo da Vinci. Physics look at Super String Theory and David Böhm (!!). Study Alchemy or the Zohar. Interesting philosophers are Erasmus and Schopenhauer. Lovers of music listen to Bach or John Cage. Cultures: Read Carlos Castaneda (!!). Study the Hopi’s, The Sufi’s, Zoroaster and The Mayas. Look at the Medicine Wheel. Study the old Cathedrals (Chartres!), Read Steiner, Blavatsky, Krisnamurti (a close friend of Bohm), Joseph Campbell (!) and Goethe. Read Poetry (!!). Last but not least Observe Nature.

Step 3. Connect the cycle to the cycle one level higher and the cycle one level lower. This shows the possible spiralling UP en the spiralling DOWN. The lower level of an Organization is called a Human. The higher level you could call a Value Chain (Cycle).

Step 4. Look for all the places where the Cycle is blocked or connected to the wrong level.

Step 5. Restore the Cycle and the Levels.

Step 6. Transform your observation in the language of the people that are paying you. This is the most important step. Carefully listen to the language. Everybody is talking in Seasons but we use many many words to say the same thing over and over again.

Step 7. Observe that most of them don’t follow your advice.

The reason? The solution is Too simple or/and Your clients believe in Luck or Destiny or/and They look for the Sinner and want to punish the Sinner or/and they Feel they are Guilty and Deny this or/and they want to use Statistics. If they do this they prove that the world is really very Complex.

Step 8. Try to explain them that they have fallen in the trap of causal reasoning. Tell them they are not Sinners or Stupid. Give them the feeling Life is meant to be a beautifull experience of the Whole.

Step 9. If they don’t follow your advide come back one cycle period later. The situation has surely increased in complexity. They need you again. Go to Step 1.

About the Invisible Fascist State

My father was born in 1909. He lived in a small village in the centre of the Netherlands.

This centre is called the Veluwe (Vale Ouwe, The Sallow Old man).

The Veluwe was the place of shifting sand and hei. At that time the people that lived there were poor. They worked as shepherds and wageworkers.

The people of the Veluwe were very religious. Many of them never attended school.

They had to believe what the Church was telling him.

Close to my fathers hometown was a hill called the Paasberg. It was the place where the Dutch Fascist Socialistic Movement (NSB) got together. Many poor people joined the movement.

They believed the Leader, Mussert, would create a better world. At the end of the war the filthy traitors of the NSB were put into concentration-camps and heavily punished by the angry survivors of the Second World War.

At the Paasberg they were told that the Jews were the cause of all the trouble in the World. The poor people did not hate the Jews. They believed the Leader just like they believed their Ministers.

They never met a real Jew. Jews were not living in a poor area like the Veluwe. They lived in the big cities far away.

The Leader told them terrible stories about what the Jews were doing. They were cheating poor people. The Jews were also the people who killed Jesus. The last argumentation was sufficient for them.

Behind the scene the Jews were also controlling the World. They were the prototype of the Cigar Smoking Capitalists. The NSB was using Socialist Language to convince the poor workers in the big cities.

The poor people of the Veluwe never visited the big cities. Their only means of transportation was by foot. They were also not allowed to visit the big cities. In big cities like Amsterdam the Devil was in control. All of them feared the Devil.

Every Sunday the Minister preached about hell and told them that heaven was a place almost nobody could reach.

They were born as sinners and almost every thing they were doing was interpreted as a sin. They lived a life of fear.

Everywhere in the Dark Centre of the Veluwe the Devil and his companions were hiding. Everybody knew where a Witch was secretly living and how the White Ladies of the Sunken Castle of the Solsche Gat appeared at Full Moon.

The Ministers explained them that they always had to obey Government even if the Government was taken over by the Germans. Government was always created by God and they had to obey Him.

Fascist movements always use poor innocent people to do the dirty work. They promise the Holy Land and use an External Enemy to explain why the world is not the way it is.

They use religion, myth, art, culture and history as a tool. The outside enemy is destroying the old values or is responsible for the terrible state you are in.

He is creating decadent filthy sinful art or is responsible for the defeat of the last battle between the Good and the Bad.

Fascists always find a historic event where they (the Bad Ones) have taken over power.

They use this story to motivate the masses to take revenge.

The communication engine uses all of these tools to tell the message over and over again. The poor victims are programmed and programming is easy.

To create an unambiguous message the independent communication systems are slowly destroyed.

They are decadent or promoting the Bad Ones.

The Fascist system wants to control the schooling system. The most innocent victims are the children. They are trained to become the new elite that will save the Homeland.

The most important skill is to learn to fight the battle and to obey the leaders. Fascists love to teach the children to play with weapons.

Behind the scene the real leaders increase their wealth and more important their power.

Power is not a mean to accomplish something. They are addicted to Power and nothing more.

Now 50 years later all the Fascist Systems are replaced by a democracy and almost everybody believes all the precautionary measures are taken to prevent the comeback of Fascism.

My feeling is that almost nobody is aware of the fact that we are now living in a new type of Fascist State. I call it the Invisible Fascist State.

My argumentation is simple.

The Invisible Fascist State is generating even more power to the people “”behind the scene” than the old Fascist State was doing.

The people “behind the scene” have not changed. Their children, relatives and friends have taken over control. They know everything that is happening but they will never tell the real story.

They are still specialists in cover ups and are creating new ghost stories. All of them are trained in Machiavelli and the other geniuses who perfected the “Art to Stay in Power”.

Let’s see What is Happening.

The amount of innocent not educated people is increasing. The majority is not poor but being poor is not the issue. The only thing the people “behind the scene” don’t want is opposition and the opposition is almost gone.

Many people don’t vote and when they vote nothing changes the System. Even the Parliament is unable to change the System.

The Media are delivering the message and the independent Media are also almost gone. The Media are commercial and to make money they have to tell the message of the advertisers.

The advertisers are selling the message of Desire and Control. Desire and Control are the two powers Fascists always use to manipulate the Masses.

The Media also promote the new Enemy. Of course all of them are objective but objectivity is not the issue.

Passivity is the goal. A huge majority is watching television, consuming and grumbling. Grumbling is very helpful to mobilize the masses when the masses are needed to keep the System running.

The new Enemy is the Islam and Islam is also the faith of the Terrorists. To destroy the Enemy we have to increase Control. The Evil Arab Terrorist looks a lot like the Jewish Enemies 57 years, a complete Kondratiev Cycle (!!), ago.

To increase Control we have to change the System of Fundamental Laws of Human Rights. Fascists don’t like Human Rights.

Some people are even discussing the issue of one man one vote because the Enemy is increasing in numbers. They tell the people we are on a colliding course and they (the Islamic enemies) soon will take over control. They will create an Islamic State for sure.

Some people in parliament already want to ban the Koran. This increases the grumbling at “the other side”. Fascists always create a situation were two groups of innocent people start to fight.

This is helpful. It increases the tension, the grumbling and the fear. Fascists like to play with fear.

The educational system is producing more and more innocent young people. They want to play fighting games and are drinking more and more alcohol.

Teaching young people to fight is a fascist aim. Alcohol stimulates desire and increases passivity. It also affects the emotions.

Emotions are the real Enemy of the Fascists. Emotions generate Compassion and Compassion is something the Fascists are really afraid of.

The knowledge of young people about almost everything that is necessary to understand what is happening is diminishing with speed.

They have to learn to push buttons because to use the System the only thing you really need to know is to push the right button.

At school the current generation is Copying and Pasting texts they don’t understand. Nobody really cares. The entrance to high level education is lowered and the requirements to obtain a diploma are also lowered. The System is working perfectly.

Are the people behind the scene coordinating everything?

Is there a worldwide conspiracy?

I don’t think so.

The System has perfected itself.

What many people don’t realize is that at a certain stage, called Emergence, Systems change into a Self-Reproducing Entity.

Humberto Maturana & Francisco Varela (Autopoiesis), Niklas Luhmann (Social Systems), Richard Kaufmann (The Origins of Order), Heinz Von Foerster (Second Order Cybernetics) and many others have proven this.

The System becomes Conscious and Takes over the Power. People don’t want to believe this because it is really a frightening thought. We want to be in control of everything. Please believe this is impossible. It is a fantasy. Being in control of everything is really the cause of the state we are in.

Jung calls the Invisible System the Collective Unconsciousness. The Invisible Fascists State is a Self-Reproducing Entity and we are unable to beat an invisible Entity. It has turned into a very powerful Ghost. The Ghost penetrates the dream state and generates night mares.

Long before the Fascist took over in Germany many sensitive people dreamed about the concentration camps and the other brutal acts of the Nazi’s. At that time nobody believed the unconsciousness is an Early Warning System. It warns us about the Future. Today we are in the same situation. The Emotional System is highly undervalued.

The Ghost takes his power out of Desire and Control and strangely enough the old religions in Persia called this Ghost the Devil. The Devil has taken over the Power.

The Ministers warned the poor people of the Veluwe of the Power of the Devil. The Devil was tempting them to sin. Don’t you feel this is just what the System is doing just now?

Self-reproducing Systems need the Outside World to take in the necessary Food to replace their components. If the Food is not available the System will eventually die. The Invisible Fascist State needs resources.

It needs a lot of Energy and other Material Components to replace the old parts. The System has eaten almost all the food that is available.

If this happens it will experience signals. The Early Warning System of the Emotions will penetrate the dream state. We are ignoring these signals. We believe the System will take care of us.

In the next stage it will become ill. The System is already ill and we believe the System will cure itself. If the illness is not cured it will die. We believe the System will never die. Eventually it will find a cure for every disease. Do you believe that also?

If we want to change the Invisible System the only thing we can do is to Resist the Temptation. Don’t agree with too much Control and don’t give in to too much Desire.

If you are a Mythic, an Artist, you can do much more.

You have to produce a completely new type of Art, the Art of Compassion. You have to act out of the Heart.

The Fascists used the Symbol of the Heart Chakra, the Seal of Solomon, the Star of David as the Symbol of Evil.

The new type of Art has to move the Collective out of the State of Fear and Apathy.

It has to generate a new Spirit and Soul.

You have to create new types of Education where the people learn simple logical reasoning based on widely available facts.

The data is available on the Internet. This will generate the necessary Awareness.

You have to build new games where cooperation is trained.

You have to create new types of Myths, Movies, Software, News Papers, Music, Buildings, Food, Cloth and Businesses.

To realize your concepts you have learn to cooperate with a new type of Expert, the Consumer.

You also have to learn to work together with all the Cultures in the World to find a new shared foundation.

You can also create the Art the System needs. The old Fascists used the Arts with Intelligence. Perhaps this will bring you wealh and recognition. Perhaps you will be invited to be part of the people behind the scene.

When you are really a Mythic you are able to reflect. When you reflect you will feel you have to leave the System. You have no choice.

About the Paths of Change of Will McWhinney

The Navajo Pollen Path inspired Will McWhinney to write his book Paths of Change

“Oh, beauty before me, beauty behind me, beauty to the right of me, beauty to the left of me, beauty above me, beauty below me, I’m on the pollen path.”

In 1992 I met Will McWhinney.

Will became the most influential person in my whole life.

Will wrote just one book called Paths of Change.

Paths of Change is based on the ancient Navajo Pollen Path.

Will was an expert in the myths and culture of the Ancient Tribes that lived in the Four Corners-area of New Mexico. Every year he organized a seminar in the Ghost Range for his ex-PHD-students. I visited many of his seminars and fell in love with New Mexico and the ancient cultures (Hopi!) that live in this area.

Will tried to write a second book called Grammars of Engagement. The book is about Coupling or Entrainment. For about ten years we discussed many of his ideas.

Unfortunately his book was never finished. The reason it was never finished can be found in Paths of Change. Will was not able to apply his own theory. Strangely enough this proves his theory.

Let me try to explain the theory of Will. The theory of Will is based on his reflection about the Practice of Change.

He did not write the book alone. He discussed his intuition with all his colleagues of UCLA (University of Los Angeles).

What they wanted to resolve was a very strange pattern behind the failures of Personal and Organizational Change.

Will and his colleagues found out that the explanation was simple. Human beings don’t think the same. They are unaware of this. Almost everybody is convinced that all humans think the same. This is the main reason why many people don’t believe the theory of Will. This again proves the theory.

Will discovered four basic ways to think. He named them Mythic, Social, Unity and Sensory. The four ways are completely independent.

The consequence of Path of Change is that You reader when you are not of my world will read this article and think you understand what I am trying to say but in reality you understand something else.

When I meet you you will prove this when I ask you to explain what you think I am trying to say. The only way to explain the theory is to detect your worldview and use your language to tell the same thing.

When I do that you will think I am explaining a different theory. Probably you will ask me why I have changed my point of view (= world-view) and I have to explain you in your language that I did not do that. This will cause the same problem. You will think I am inconsistent.

When you are living in a world with only one world view you are according to all the Best Practises in Mental Ilness (Interpersonal Theory) highly disturbed.

Many people are able to think in two world views. They are able to switch from one world view to the other.

The amount of different combinations of Two of the Four Worldviews is Twelve (4×4 = 16 but 4 are the same x the same = the same -> 16-4 = 12). Will named the 12 Duals Games but you can also call them Apostles (with Jezus at the Center 12+1 = 13), Knights (of the Round Table with Arhur at the Center) or Constellations (of the Zodiac with the Sun at the Center).

Some people are able to switch to all of the world views. When you are able to switch to the worldview of the other you are able to explain the same thing differently. You are able to look at the world with a shared view.

The four worldviews in the book of kells

When both our worldviews are the same we will agree on everything but both of us will not see the others. This is the main reason why people with shared worldviews join in all kinds of cooperation’s. They join because they need a secure place that shields them from the strange outside world.

It is also the reason why people with different world-views leave a cooperation in due time. They feel the others don’t understand them. Clusters of shared world-views become highly inflexible when the outside world changes.

When you are a Sensory you will say “what I read until now is highly theoretical. I want to see facts and prove. Is the theory of Will tested?”.

Although Path of Change is Best Practice you will not accept what he is writing. You want to experience the theory yourself and perhaps 20 years later you will write a book telling the same thing. You will write a book full of examples because you love examples. You will be convinced it is telling something very different Will was telling. Happily Will has also written a book that uses examples and cases to help You.

When you are a Social you want to know the opinions of important social scientists and others you feel are of importance. You believe important people are telling important things and you have never heard of McWhinney so his theory is not important to know.

When you are a Unity you want to know the Rules. You want to be told what to do and most of the time you do what the Rules tell you to do. The book Will has written is without Rules it contains concepts and ideas. You think concepts and ideas are not concrete. You even don’t like some of his concepts because they are not according to the concepts you think are true. They are violating your System of Thought. You believe in absolute truth.

When you are a Mythic you believe everything is possible. Life is full of opportunities. You generate ideas and concepts all the time. A Mythic creates his own unique theory and his theory is really a theory about himself. A Mythic is unaware of this. To become aware of this he has to face the facts. He needs to switch to a Sensory world view or accept the view of an other who is able to see the world this way. This is very difficult for a Mythic because a Mythic is very Will-full.

A Mythic is convinced he is the only person who understands the World and some day the World will understand what a genius he is. This will never happen when he is alive. Mythics become a Myth when they are dead.

A Mythic is also an artist. He produces paintings, poems and even theory but his theory is mostly incomprehensible for others just like poetry.

Only Mythics understand Mythics. They feel the Field of Meaning. A Mythic does not understand that the others don’t understand him because his poetry is `the way it is`. It tells everything there is to say.

Will’s basic patterns were Mythic and Social. He was also able to switch to Unity. His blind spot was Sensory. Although many people were very enthusiastic about his book he did not see the facts about his success.

As a Social he focused on the recognition of important social scientists. At the end of his life he was very sad about this. As a Mythic he was convinced his theory was simple and easy to understand. This created even more sadness. Sadness and depressions are the mental illnesses when a Social becomes too Social.

Why was Will unable to finish his book? A Mythic is a highly creative person. He was constantly generating new ideas and concepts. The book was changing and changing and changing because Will wanted to create the perfect book about Engagement. Every version of the book he created was a jewel of poetry and insight. Will wanted to create the perfect book and striving to perfection is again an act of a Mythic. Will was falling in the trap of his own world-view.

What Will also did not realize that he was really writing to understand himself. Path of Change and Grammars of Engagement were a personal quest to understand the real Will McWhinney.

In the last year of his life somebody asked him to write his life-story. He tried to do this. He became aware of the fact that his whole life was centered around one personal quest. He wanted to find harmony. He never found harmony because a Mythic is on a Quest and the Quest never stops because every time when he has found the Grale he will start to look for a new Grale.

In Grammars of Engagement he started to write about Harmony.

A few citations out of his unpublished manuscript:

“All communication arises through coupling. All communications are dances that coordinate the rhythmic processes shared among the engaging systems“

“Communication is not a transmission of information, but rather a coordination of behavior among living organisms through mutual structural coupling. Coupling, the instrument of coordination, is established by the physics of exchange and by traditions that associate both human relations and communications with music: harmony, rhythm, tone and tune”.

‘Just right’ communication work because it allows systems to exchange energy, thus information, through entrainment. They dance to a just right message. The communication follows from exchanges that take place as the systems draw each other toward a common resonant mode. Systems communicate in the process of being more similar, approaching a harmonious state at least in the domain of the communication. Entrainment stops short of perfect harmony. With perfect harmony there is no exchange. ‘Just right’ is becoming close to harmonizing”.

What Will is describing is a dialogue. Will was always playing with his own thoughts. He was busy with an internal dialogue called Reflexion. Intense reflexion is a Mythic Process. When you only talk with Your Self there will be no difference. You are similar with yourself and the internal dialogue stops. You are in harmony.

To make a difference you have to introduce others like your wife or your mother. People talk internally and externally with many voices. Most of them do this without noticing. They are not aware of the many personalities they are. They are not similar to themselves and therefore “out of balance”.

To become balanced they need to talk. A huge amount of conversations (gossip) are aimed at creating an internal balance. To find internal balance people look for people that are similar. Again they need a secure place that shields them from the strange outside world.

When people are constantly moving in similar environments they will never find their Kernel, The Self. It will be watching unable to interfere in the many dialogues that are taking place.

When the Self is unknown, people will not accept the theory of Will. They will be switching from one theory to the other without finding rest.

When they find themselves they will not need the theory of Will because they will be able to play with all the world-views. This is a paradox. It also proves the theory of Will because Will tried to explain that Life is a Paradox.

Another citation: `The process of coming close to harmonizing is visible in an old example. Automobiles and farm machinery once had clutches. These clutches consisted of two plates, one attached to the driver motor, the other attached to the wheels, thrasher, or rotary saw. When the operator ‘let in the clutch’ the two plates moved flat up against each other. As the clutch ‘comes in,’ the driver plate begins to transfer energy to the follower plate getting thus it to turn. At first, the clutch slips and most of the power goes to grabbing, which produces heat. Increasingly the driving plate turns the follower. With full ‘letting in,’ the two turn together. There is no more heating; they form a unit with no further visible communications. The coupling established at the molecular level joins the material of the driver and follower plates in transmitting power to the wheels and cutting blades. This clutching sequence is a model of entrainment. We can recognize similar entrainment sequences in many other situations: a spoon stirring batter in a bowl, cellular protein molecules latching onto antibodies, two persons entering into conversation, and 100,000 people being captured by Marion Anderson singing God Bless America at the Lincoln Memorial”

Will was unable to operate his own clutch. This was really visible when he was driving his car.

He was a staccato person. He loved to work with steel and stone. He was a sculptor. His art was concrete. He loved to practice what he preached but he always practiced his theory in the outside world. He loved to help others but never wanted to be helped. This is the sad consequence of a Mythic/Social-combination.

Will showed that all the combinations are games and the Mythic/Social-game is the game of creating new games. A Mythic Social is an innovator. He is always on the front-line.

He does not see that his inventions wil be taken over by other World-View combinations that are highly practical like the Unity/Sensory-combination, The Expert.

Expert always think they have invented things themselves and never give the Mythic/Social the credits. This is a fact of life but Mythics don’t accept the facts of Life.

His books are wonderful pieces of English words I never heard of. He was a child of a highly educated family in Boston. His mother and father did not love him. They wanted him to become somebody. At the end of his life he was convinced he had failed to satisfy the ambitions of his parents. He told everybody this was the fatal trap in life.

Will was not only a Mythic but also a Social. Socials are highly influenced by Others. Of course parents play the most important role because a young child is incapable of resisting their influence. The Self of the young child is watching.

The Fifth World Views, The Center, Consciousness

In the internal dialogue of Will his mother plaid a very important role. In his external dialogue he looked for a similar person and his wife plaid that role. He was unaware of this. He was constantly fighting the mother in his wife without noticing she was a different person. His wife plaid the same game. Will was her father and she did not notice Will was really looking for love and harmony.

Will promoted ”Just right” because ”With perfect harmony there is no exchange”.

Another citation:”Too Large—Overloads. Highly energetic perturbations overload a system, tearing apart the autocatalytic loops that hold its definition. Too much energy bifurcates the stable basins of a system’s memory and ultimately violates its autopoietic identity. The overly energetic perturbations leave open non-reflecting fragments of nodes: neurons, bits of stories, and social customs. These fragmented networks are no longer able to hold meanings or link to memory traces. Short of total destruction, strong perturbation will wipe out the fine structure of a receiving system, leaving it only able to operate in those sequences enforced by the invasive perturbation. To protect the networks of connections, electrical and mechanical systems have features to handle ‘over-modulation.’ With appropriate design, they digitize signals to compress the spectrum, thereby allows the message to be accepted. Human systems have a variety of means to block or censor invasive signals that violate our senses and psyches. Some at the physiological level block the energy that carries the messages; others receive, understand and reject the overwhelming impact. Blocking and the use of censorship disconnects us from the environment and preempts the discrimination they would our systems had more capacity”.

Wills communication was Too Large.

He was a genius and his wife a normal person. He did not realize this.

His knowledge and experience was so enormous that he overwhelmed everybody.

He was looking for a dialogue but in every dialogue and project he became the leader.

He was a guru but he did not want to be a guru.

He was a child longing for his mother but he never wanted to be touched.

He cared for everybody but not for himself.

He was fighting but he wanted peace.

He wanted to create a better world but the outside world was moving into the wrong direction. He did not accept the Cycle.

He always wanted to cure himself. He wanted to find the eternal youth and searched the whole world for new treatments and medicines. He did not believe in the medical system but at the end of his life he needed the system desperately. He never listened to the experts so they left him alone.

He preached meditation but he could not calm himself.

Will was the prove of his own theory.

He was a living paradox.

What Happened?

The personality and the vision of Will McWhinney attracted many Mythic people. All of them started to play with the theory of Will in their own way. Soon it became very clear that Will had re-discovered a very ancient theory of Life.

A pastor found a relationship between the World Views of Will and the Four Apostles (see pictures in this blog). He discovered that the Four Books of the Evangelists where written to adress one particular World View of the believers.

We discovered a relationship with the very powerfull psychological theory called Interpersonal Theory, Game Theory, Conflict Theory, the Cycles in History, the Tarot, the Four Humors, the Zodiac, the Four Forces of Nature, the Archtetypes of Jung, the Myers Briggs test, the Big Five, the metaphors of George Lakoff and many many other ancient and modern theories.

Paths of Change has proved to be the perfect meta-theory to map and understand all kinds of different physical and social sciences. It shows without any doubt that a theory of everything is possible.

The most interesting find was the self-referencial nature of the theory. It is possible to map the theory on itself.

Why Psychiatrists are Unable to Cure their own Mental Disease

I have been involved with mental illness all my life.In my fathers family many people were mentally ill.

My grandmother was taken to a mental prison after the birth of her last child and staid there all her life. She died before I was born.

My aunt was sexually abused when she was young. My uncle was a simple friendly person who was only capable of taking care of animals and gardens.

He was really too friendly (not assertive). Many people took advantage of him. He ended his life in a mental prison where he was incapable of doing anything. His friends, the animals and the plants where left out of the prison because there was a shortage in specialists to “help him”.

The only thing he could do was sit, eat and worry. To stop his worrying he had to take pills. Many years later he died of a heart-attack. He never found the harmony nature could provide him with.

My father was a talent in handling people that were mentally disturbed. He understood what they were saying and what they needed. I have inherited his talent.

My father was born in 1909. Just like all his brothers he was a farmer. In 1940 he was taken prisoner by the Germans, escaped and found my mother far away from his home in a city called Leiden. I was born in 1951. I was their only child. His experiences in the War and Childhood had an influence on my childhood. He was never able to talk about it.

My father was never educated so he had to do dirty work. The dirty work generated a lot of stress. To find rest he created a garden. He trained me in his specialism. When he got old he could not work in his garden anymore. Just like his brother he became very depressed. He also died of a heart-attack. Many years later my mother died of Alzheimer.

All the time mental disturbed people appear in my life. They are diagnosed as paranoid, psychotic, schizophrenic, depressed, histrionic, autistic, dependent, Alzheimer, split personality, dissociation, ADHD and many other new terms. I am able to help some of them with my “para-normal” talent.

Later I found out that my grandmother was also gifted with the same talent. It was the main reason why she was put into the mental prison. At that time (1920) “para-normal” people were not liked. They were disturbing the System of Religion.

At the university I took many courses in psychology and philosophy. Psychology has been my main interests all my life.

I became befriended with very capable psychiatrists and psychologists and also with people that were also gifted with a special (para-normal?) talent to cure mental diseases

In this blog I use Self-Reference to show you what is happening in the Mental System. What I am writing about this System is applicable to all Systems. It is just an example.

In the current system you are officially mentally ill when a Mental Engineer decides you are mentally ill.

A specialist uses a questionnaire and out of the test comes a mental-illness-term, a procedure and medication how to treat the illness. Mental illness is standardized like many other areas in our society

Standardization was invented by Winslow Taylor in the beginning of the 20th century. His invention created the factory and of course the computer. Standardization is possible when we look at the world trough the eye of the machine.

Mental illness is a defect in the control system of the machine. Somewhere there is a bug in the software of the mind. When we have detected and repaired the bug we are able to run the system again.

Another solution is to ReProgram the Operating System (Memory) itself with a new version or a completely new operation system. A very effective way to do this is Hypnosis.

The current theory about mental diseases has a lot in common with the Microsoft Operating System. It is very complex, contains a lot of bugs and the outside (the user-interface) is more important than the inside.

To become a Mental Engineer you have to be trained to acquire a certificate.

To get a certificate you need a certificate to enter the training. The process of certification acts like a filtering filter, a quality system. Only the perfect machines are allowed to leave the education factory. Its starts with many. In the end only a few survive.

This causes a shortage and a shortage creates a market. Mental engineers are highly paid like all the specialists that are able to move to the filtering filter.

To-earn-a-lot-of-money is the attractor of the educational factory. Parents that believe earning-a-lot-of-money is the most important thing in life push their children into the system and keep pushing until they are in the right production-line.

To help the System Banks and Governments are providing loans. This helps the System a lot because now the perfect machines have to stay in the System to be able to pay back their loans.

When you are a talent the theory is very different from what you feel you have to do, you become uncertain.

When you start to work in the System and you see that everybody is doing ‘it” you lose your “inner voice” (intuition).

Finally you are ‘one of them” telling others to do what the theory is telling you to do because “ everybody knows it works this way”. The System is filtering out your talent and the talent of others.

A talent, a person being able to act without training, is most of the time not recognized in our society. When you are a specialized talent you are unable to get a certificate. You are not accepted by the System. Sadly enough some of them become mentally ill. When they go to the System for help they are programmed into a mental patient and they lose their “inner voice” too.

When you are a multi-talent you are able to move to the system with ease. Unfortunately multi-talents are scarce and equipped with a highly analytic mind. They don’t like the theoretical mess caused by the Microsoft Operating System Theory the Social Sciences is using

When they stay in the System most of them are unable to change the Operating System into a simple system like UNIX. They are blocked by their colleagues. They don’t like to be shown wrong.

The last problem is that psychology is divided into many many separate specialisms (Word, Powerpoint…). The specialisms are related to other branches in science like religion, medicine, physics and mathematics.

They all use their own dialect and are therefore incapable to sustain a dialogue to become “One” system. This is also happening in Computing. There are thousands of computer languages that are unable to “talk” with the other.

On a higher level we see a very peculiar thing happening.

The System protects itself by leaving out everybody who is able to disturb The System.

To put it in other words The System itself is mentally ill and according to its own terminology it is Paranoid. To cure the System we have to find out what helps a Paranoid to become “Normal” again.

To become mentally ill you have to go the specialist with a story and when the story convinces him you are ill. The simplest way to become ill is that you (the Patient) want to be cured of something.

This something is a negative emotional feeling. You tell the specialist your sad story and if the story is convincing you are ill

Funny enough the System is not going to a meta-Specialist to be cured. This is again an indication of the mental illness Paranoid. Paranoids want to control everybody and are unable to see what is happening. They use their theories to look at the world.

The only thing that “helps them” is a major event that shows them they are wrong. The System is only cured when it runs into a major crisis.

Funny enough the System is in major crisis but the only thing that is not happening is that the specialists are “feeling” this crisis. The only persons that are ‘feeling” the crisis are the patients and the patients are programmed into a machine. They obey the rules. Something more has to happen.

The specialist translates your negative feeling into a standardized term. This is sometimes very difficult because many emotional terms are not the main entrance to the standard.

There are many types of fear and combined with other issues you are given a different diagnoses and a different treatment. Fear is a simple emotional entrance and treating fear (a negative expectation of the Future) is really simple. Change your expectation and your fear is gone.

A paranoid “fears” change. So to change the System we have to change the positive expectations of the specialist about the Future. We have to show them that we are getting into a major crisis and they will also be troubled by the crisis.

One of the expectations we could show them is something the System believes in. It is called the Budget. We could show them that the amount of mental disturbed people will rise and rise and rise and at a certain point in time they will not be able to get the money to help everybody.

This is happening but again the System has already found a solution. The solution is “not helping everybody”. Not helping everybody is called a “waiting-list” and the length of waiting list is increasing

To solve this problem the System has created a new specialist to tell the people that they have to wait. These specialists guide the gate of the system. They are called Gate-Keepers.

Sometimes they have to use violence to keep the patients out. In this case the Gate-Keepers employ other specialists called Security people. The Security-business is exploding because many Systems are in a State of War.

They even have invented a very special type of mental ilness that is helping the Security Business to increase their Business called Terrorist. This proves again the System is Paranoid. When a paranoid is threatened he reacts with violence.

When we react with violence the system will not change. The System has found the final prove of its own theory. Paranoid people are always afraid of somebody that will kill them.

Their ultimate fear is the fear of death. When they are confronted with this fear they get totally “out-of-control”. They are insane.

The Mental System is preventing with every thing it is doing to become Insane.

Insane is a state where all structure is gone. Insane is the ultimate state of Chaos. Insane is the state where the Conscious is gone and the Darkness of the Unconscious rules.

The Mental System is desperately preventing it will have to stay the rest of its life in its own Mental Prison. It is taking its own pills and treatments to prevent this.

Now the Darkness of the Unconsciousness is not at all dark. It generates the Light of Insight and Intuition. The Mental System is really afraid of its own intuition that is telling the System it is not working.

To keep the System running the System has to prevent there is time to reflect and to prevent this the System is generating a lot of demand. It is generating demand by “not-working”.

When the System is helping people to cure themselves with ease the demand will go down. When the demand goes down the Shortage will go down. When the Shortage goes down the Salaries will go down.

When the Salaries go down the Educational System will lose its attraction and when the Educational System goes down the only people that are able to solve the problem are talented people.

What I am showing you is something that is called the Cycle. It goes up and down.

At this moment we are in the downfall of the factory-model that is striving to make everything the same. It is aimed at Equality.

The opposite, Uniqueness (Individuality), is rising. Uniqueness has its own mental disease called Autistic. An Autist wants to do “everything on its own”. An Autist is incapable of Cooperation.

What we have to prevent is that when a new System arises it will again fall in its own extreme mental trap. This happens when the people in the System are unaware of the movement of the Cycle

They start as Innovators and use their Imagination. When they don’t look outside they become highly Conservative people. Extreme Conservative people are by definition Paranoid.

The only way to keep out of a very high Up and Very low Down (called a crisis) is to balance the Extremes.

To balance the extremes we have to find a balance between the need to create a Future that is Predictable (Control), the need for the Human to be Unique, the need of the Poor and Helpless to find Solidarity (Soul) and the need to find New ways to solve New problems by using the Imagination (Spirit).

A cycle is balanced by the Centre. The Centre is the Heart of the Cycle. It uses Empathy, the Mirror of the Other to learn about the Self.

Let’s start by doing it ourselves again and use our own abilities to help the other. When we do this we are in the right State of the Cycle. We move with the Flow.

When you have a multi-talent or a specialized talent just do what you feel you have to do. It will work out fine.

Everybody is equipped with a Talent. You can easily find your talent when you feel a positive emotion when you are doing the thing “you are good at”. You are in the Flow.

You are “good at something” when others become enthusiastic (Spirit) and want to work with you (Soul) to create something Beautifull. You can also join others who generate this feeling of excitement with you.

To create Beauty is al that matters. Beauty is the process where Spirit and Soul are active. Beauty is not the result of a process. Beauty is created when you and others become the Process of Creation itself.

Explaining the Placebo Effect by Counting Stories

The unconscious is a new territory for mathematicians and physicists. Jung one of the inventors of the term unconsciousness was convinced mathematics was the key to understand the Unknown.

At the end of his life he asked one of his female pupils Marie-Louise Von Franz to look for the link between mathematics and the unconsciousness.

She wrote the book “Number and Time”. Later I found an article of the mathematician and physicist William A Tiller about the same issue. It is called “Human Psychophysiology, Macroscopic Information Entanglement and the Placebo Effect”. In the article he explains the so called placebo-effect.

The placebo-effect is a funny thing. A pharmacist is a person who wants to treat a disease with a chemical (mostly toxic) substance (a pill). When something that is not toxic (a placebo) heals the same disease he is sad.

He is sad because he is not able to make a profit and he is sad because he has spent a lot of time doing research for nothing. When the placebo-effect occurs people imagine that they are cured and their imagination cures them.

A citation: “In 1999, Enserink wrote a short but very interesting article concerning how greatly the magnitude of the placebo effect in double-blind pharmacological studies had grown in the previous 15 years. He pointed out that “when companies started testing drugs for obsessive-compulsive disorder back in the mid-1980’s, the placebo responserate was almost zero. As time went on, this response rate began to creep upward, up to a point where one could reasonably conclude that some clinical trials failed because of high placebo response rates. A very recent meta-analysis of 19 antidepressant drug trials revealed that the “placebo effect” on average accounted for 75% of the effect of real drugs”.

What Tiller is saying is that a “depression” was cured by believing it would be cured. This happened when people started to believe there was something (a pill) that could cure them.

Again a citation: “The information bandwidth (in bits per second) of the human unconscious is about 1 million times that of the conscious”. The so called unconscious is capable of finding patterns and its capacity to do this is enormous. The unconscious is more conscious than the conscious. Our “problem” is that our conscious is not able to “understand” the other conscious that is part of us. It uses another “language”.

Another citation: “If one counts the entire duplex space as a 4-space, then the entire multidimensional representation is a 7-space. If instead, we count the duplex space as a unique member of the general 8-space, then our reference frame is eleven-dimensional”.

What Tiller is explaining in his language (mathematics) is that besides our own space there exists an unseen space. It is a space we cannot SEE WITH OUR EYES because the capacity to see patterns with our eyes is incapable of seeing the other world. We use the “third eye” to have a look.

In this space you are able to travel with speed >C (the speed of Light). Perhaps you are getting confused now. You know this is impossible. You have learned this at school.

The mathematical reason behind this statement is that it is “impossible” to take the square root of a negative number.

If you define the square-root of the negative number -1 as the letter “i” (imaginary) your problem is gone. The IMAGINARY, “unseen” world, can be combined with the REAL world we SEE. 2 +4i is an example of a combined number.

Another mathematical problem is “division by zero”. You know again this is impossible. You have learned this also at school. This problem is created when you are moving with the speed of light.

The problem can be avoided if you use another concept of space. Division by zero is called a hole and you just navigate trough space avoiding THE HOLE.

Current physics assumes the space we live in consists of billons of billons of holes.

A funny thing is that 5000 years ago Indian science told the same story. They called the holes the bindu’s. The bindu’s where the holes to another world and out of this world something was transported called PRANA. PRANA is called QI (CHI) in China. QI means the force of life.

You have to believe that many (very expensive) experiments have shown that we are living in a very different space you have learned at school. Perhaps your teacher knew he was he was telling the wrong story. He learned when he was learning to become a teacher that young children are unable to understand the new concept of space.

Funny enough young children experience this space when they are sleeping or day-dreaming. When they are at school they believe the teacher and the teacher is believing his teacher and ….

What the experiments also show is something called ENTANGLEMENT. When something is created out of a WHOLE the parts of the whole stay CONNECTED and the connection travels with a speed >C (the speed of Light).

To explain entanglement physicists have accepted there are MANY UNIVERSES and every time a (UN?)CONSCIOUSNESS OBSERVES (becomes AWARE) a new PARALEL UNIVERSE is created.

In our REALITY we SEE one of the possible universes. In our IMAGINARY state we are able to move to all the others. We are even able to travel time because physicists accept the reality that the PAST and THE FUTURE are created in the NOW. They change with every act of consciousness.

Tiller explains that the 4-dimensional unseen space is created by the EMOTIONS.

Now I want to get back to the book “Time and Number”.

A huge part of the book is about China. Jung studied the I TJING with William Reich and was fascinated by the CYCLE (a rotating CIRCLE) of Lo CHI. Remember CHI means “Force of Life”.

The Lo Chi cycle (5000 years old) is described by a magic 3×3 square where all the numbers add up to 15. It has a 5 in the centre.

The magic Lo Chi magic square and related magic squares play an important role in modern physics. They are related to symmetry and symmetry is related to HARMONY and FIELDS.

Funny. The LO-CHI-cycle is exactly the cycle that is explaining the same thing Tiller is explaining.

The book NUMBER and TIME contains a very interesting observation about story-TELLING. When you count (telling = counting) the major persons in an “old” story (myth, fairy tale) and combine the counting with the flow of the story the Lo CHI CYCLE shows itself.

For some reason story-TELLERS were TELLING the same story all over again and again.

They wanted to make sure the concept of the Cycle was handed over and over and over again generation after generation.

The cycle explains one thing Tiller is proving “Your Imagination is the Creator of Your own Reality”.

The most interesting insight I got is that what Jung calls our unconsciousness is more aware than our consciousness. The Unknown is connected to our Emotions. So if you want to create trust them. Trust your gut-feeling and your imagination because they are doing “IT”. You are the Creator of every Situation and Person you encounter in Your Life. They are the Mirror of Your Self.

About the Legal System

A friend of mine is a well known lawyer. He is writing a book about improving the Legal System. He is thinking out of the box.

His main issue is efficiency. We can save much money and of course save a lot of trouble of innocent victims of the System when we use sound principles of management. I agree with everything he is writing.

I don’t want to think out of the box I want to remove the box itself. Let’s have a try.

Why do we need a law and people that are enforcing the law?

Was there a time in history when Law was not needed? Law was not needed in Paradise.

What Went Wrong?

The Church is trying to convince us that we were forced to leave Paradise because of Sin. Eve ate an Apple. The Apple was given to her by the Snake and the Snake was Evil. Sin is the cause of the Legal System.

We have to detect and punish all the sinners who are not obeying the Law. When they have confessed their sins in Court they have to pay the price in terms of money and/or years in prison. After that time they can start all over again.

The concept of Sin was invented to give the Power to Judge to the Church of Rome. The Church of Rome was the successor of the Roman Empire. They were the experts in managing the masses (Divide and Conquer, Bread and Games). They were also the inventors of our Law System.

My friend uses many Latin insights like “De minimis non curat Praetor (dont go to court for something small)” to support his arguments. Later the Institutions of the State took over the Power to Judge.

The Church of Rome not only explained why we had to leave Paradise. It also invented a new concept called Heaven. Heaven is Paradise but now we have to obey the law to get there.

Paradise was given to us. To go to Heaven we have to obey. They not only invented Heaven but also Hell (The Jail) and a manager of the eternal Jail called the Devil.

The snake is really the symbol of Consciousness, the power which knows itself. When the human left Paradise he became aware and was given the opportunity to become a co-creator. He became a part of the Whole that is called All-That-Is (Yahweh). He was also given a Free Will because a dependent co-creator is not a creator.

What went wrong?

We were not able to co-create a balanced Earth and time after time All-That-Is was asked to interfere and to create a Law like the Ten Commandments. The first command was “Don’t Kill“. Humans thanked Yahweh for the Law and just went on killing.

What went wrong?

We always find new laws (exceptions) that are more important than the sixth commandment.

We invent them.

We are allowed to kill when somebody has killed another person or we are allowed to kill when somebody is trying to kill another or…. I can go on and on giving you very intelligent arguments why killing a human is allowed in a certain situation.

This process of inventing exceptions is called jurisprudence and it creates a very complex system of laws. To judge a situation we need highly educated experts (Lawyer) and highly educated “objective” persons (Judges) to value the law and its exceptions to pass a verdict.

By creating experts we created a shortage.

The experts in law are not trained to become a doctor or an artist.

In society we don’t discuss this shortage. We hope that the System (now called a Market) will regulate itself. When it is regulating itself we create Laws to stop the process of Self-Organization (also called Consciousness).

The doctors are afraid there will be too many doctors so their price (income) will go down. They organize pressure groups that are influencing law makers and often somebody introduces an exception. This exception increases the Complexity of the System.

What went wrong?

When you need an expert you need money and some people are poor. So we invented a system where there are two types of victims the rich and the poor. The rich are able to win a legal process more easily than a poor person.

Again we created a shortage. The shortage is wealth and we invented a tool to “objectify” wealth called money. Poor people are in need of money and rich people have an abundance of money. We created a system called a Bank to regulate the flow of money. We created systems to regulate Banks. Regulating regulators never stops.

What went wrong?

The rich people have influence by themselves. We try to prevent this but behind the scene people with influence are making deals with the Law. We all know that.

We create Laws to prevent this but as you all know now people don’t like to obey rules. This opportunity was given them when they left Paradise. It was called Free Will. We are constantly trying to control Free Will (Our co-creating Creativity).

What went wrong?

At some point in time the masses became too powerful. They were on the verge of a take-over. To stop this democracy was invented. This went wrong when the masses started to vote for themselves. To prevent them doing this the consumer market was invented. The masses (now called citizens) could vote with their money.

Now the consumers (the masses) are taking over the Power again and the consumer market is destroying Earth (our Paradise).

We are inventing new concepts like Media and Games (Bread and Games) to silence them.

We also create new ways to “divide and conquer” called Sound Management Principles and Compliance but will it help us?

What went wrong?

The main point I am trying to show you that things always go wrong. We are compensating a fatal error with a fatal error.

This is a meta-problem and I can go on phrasing meta-meta-meta questions and in the end things are always are going wrong. Is there something totally wrong behind all this?

We started with the gift of consciousness, the power which knows itself. This power gave us a Free Will and Free Will is Co-Creativity. The Co is very important Co means Co-Operation.

Are we really using the Power to Know Ourselves? If we would know ourselves we would know what was Right and what was Wrong. We would act out of Knowing instead of out of our Impulses. We would not need an outside Law. We would be carrying the Law in Our Selves.

Why are we not using our Consciousness?

People use their Consciousness all the time. It is a voice that is talking in their heads asking them Why?

Why is starting the process of Reflection. To reflect we need a Mirror and the Mirror is the Other. If you were the other, would you like to be treated like You are treating the Other?

What people do most of the time is the opposite of Reflexion called Projection. Projection is telling others not to do what You are doing all the time.

You are a Priest working in the Army. You tell others that they are not allowed to kill but when there is a war you pray to God for help to win the war.

Projection is the cause of all the trouble we are in. Projection is Judging others without starting to Judge yourself.

Ask yourself the question. Is it wrong to ask for food when you are hungry? The Law in the Bible tells you to give shelter, food and care to the poor and the sick.

Why are we not doing this?

We are doing this because when we give money our account is going down and perhaps we need the money later when we are in trouble. But when everybody is helping everybody we don’t need to save money.

We don’t believe others will do this and therefore we are not doing it our selves. This is projection. We are projecting our behavior on others.

Is it wrong to ask for a shelter when you are poor? Again “giving something” causes problems because when we give we are also have to take.W

We think Life is a zero-sum-game. We are imagining a shortage. Shortage is a fantasy, an Illusion created by our Thinking Process.

Our Thinking is projecting(!) troubles into the future and acts in the Now like they are real. It wants to control something that is still not there.

We have created the Illusion of State, Law, Money, Inflation, Interest, Budget, Time and many other Illusions of Control. They are bothering us now in everything we want to do.

Life is really a non-zero-sum-game when we share and collaborate. The solutions for the big problems in the world are known. We don’t apply them. We are projecting, projecting and projecting. Let’s stop this Evil Game.

Let us start to observe our selves.

Let us use our imagination and create new possibilities.

We don’t have to move far away. Let us start in our own environment, our family, our friends, our colleagues, our neighbors. If everybody is doing this we will solve many problems.

In the end we will still need a Law and a Judge but the amount of Laws, Jurisprudence and Lawsuits will dramatically go down. The System will be very simple and a lot cheaper. It will cure and clean itself.

About the Foundations of Mathematics

In the beginning of the 20th century the mathematicians Bertrand Russell and Alfred North Whitehead wanted to define the eternal foundation of Mathematics.

To build a foundation Mathematicians always start with defining what they “mean”. They use a symbolic language called Logic to do this.

In Logic “=” means “Being the Same“. If we would use the mathematical “=” in human languages we would say things like “a House is a House“.

These statements are without any meaning. We believe them but they are not adding something to our knowledge of the world we live in. “=” is called a Tautology in Logic. It is the only statement that is always true.

Mathematics is about changing the left hand and the right hand of the tautology without changing the truth. Mathematicians are always proving that the left and the right in what they mean are the same (=).

To speed up the process of proving, Mathematicians define new symbols that are “based on” other symbols. They use the foundation of “lower” symbols to define higher symbols. This process of mapping is called Abstraction (going UP). A Number is abstracted into the symbol A, called a variable.

Human languages are different from Logic. Depending on the language, the context and the person, terms have a different meaning. Mathematicians don’t like that.

The term Foundation is a Latin term (fundus). In the English language “Foundation“ means “stable layer“.

In the Dutch language “Foundation” is translated into the term “grond-slag“. “grond-slag” means “hitting” (slag) a pole (paal) into the Earth to build a house on.

A foundation is something that is connecting a foundation (Poles) to another foundation (Earth).

In human language the right and the left are equal AND not equal. They have something “in common“.

When we talk about a foundation most of us See a House. When we communicate we share this picture unconsciously. If we have not lived in a context where houses are build we are not able to share meaning.

When a Dutch person “wants to fund” he has “to hit the pole“. In other places “Laying a Foundation” is a much more gentle process.

Human languages differ from Logic in many ways. The left and the right have something in common but are also different.

The symbols (words) in human languages are connected to real pictures.

A very important difference is the principle of truth.

In mathematics we want to be certain. Mathematical truth is binary, Yes or NO. In human languages we have to believe and believing is an Emotion.

Believing is Seeing and Feeling. We have abstracted a thing that is Seeing and Feeling.

It is situated in our body. We call it Mind. Mind is a Latin word (“mental“) and it means Spirit and Soul.

Spirit is connected to the Imagination and Soul is connected to the Emotions.

We Feel with our Soul and we See with our Spirit (Inspiration, Inspire).

Our Soul moves to something it likes and it moves away from something it dis-likes.

Our Spirit takes us away. Suddenly we get a Flash of In-Sight and we Have to Move.

Soul is gentle. Spirit hits us, like we hit a pole.

Russell used a “Thing called a Set” to create the eternal basis of Mathematics. He defined many operations on the Set. In the end he believed he had succeeded.

Suddenly a nasty problem arose.

The set of all sets created a paradox (The Russell Paradox).

It contained itself and it did not contain itself.

To solve this paradox he defined a new rule (an axiom) that a set had to contain itself. Later others proved that this was not helping him at all. The foundation of Russell proved to be completely unstable.

The reason he failed was related to the boundary of the set. The boundary is not nothing. It can be open or closed to its environment (other sets).

An open boundary looks-like your skin. A closed boundary looks-like an armor. Somewhere the set of sets (of sets of ..) had to close itself but the Set of the Whole could not be found.

One of the companions of Russell, Ludwig Wittgenstein, totally changed its views about mathematics. He did not believe in logic and a foundation any more.

He showed that we are playing games with language. Language is context-dependent. It’s meaning changes all the time.

He also showed that many sciences are simply impossible because they belong to the domain of the emotions.

Examples are Ethics and Esthetics.

Formalizing emotions is impossible. We all know what is right and wrong and beauty is a personal experiences. Nobody is able to tell you what you have-to-like.

Later the Dutch Mathematician Brouwer proved that everything we cannot imagine always leads to a paradox.

Later Gödel created a new problem. Gödel proved that an abstraction (a higher layer) is unable to explain every part of a lower layer.

If we go UP we always loose meaning. The Set of Sets of … cannot contain all sets.

Later Lakoff and Nunez proved that the language of Mathematics acts in the same way as human languages.

Mathematical Truth is not only connected to Seeing (Brouwer) but also to Feeling. The Emotion of believing is necessary to believe mathematics.

Lakoff showed also that in human languages the process of abstraction has an end. It ends when we are unable to imagine what we are talking about (see Brouwer). When we use highly abstract words like “relation” or “furniture” we reason with a part of the set (a prototype) we are using. We use a chair or a table when we use “furniture“. Abstraction without visibility again creates confusion (a paradox).

Now I want to apply the flashes of insight of all the people to show you something about the abstraction called Mind.

(1) Russell: If you think your Mind is a closed environment you’re wrong. You are using the concept of the Set. Your mind is open to other Minds.

(2) Brouwer: If you cannot imagine a Mind it does not exist. Many people see the Brain when they imagine the Mind. The Brain is controlling everything in our body. If we use (1) we have to find a way of explaining how the mind is communicating with other minds. Scientists found the solution. The mind is producing words (speaking).

(3) Wittgenstein showed that speaking is not a reliable tool of communication. Behind words we are exchanging pictures and emotions. Wittgenstein showed that it is impossible to reason about emotions. We cannot reason about the emotional part of the Mind (Soul).

(4) Gödel: Your mind is an abstraction and therefore Your mind is unable to explain everything You Are.

(5) Lakoff: Mind is an abstraction without an image. When you reason about your mind you use a visual (!) sub-set of the Mind. The visual subset we use is “Actor”. Your Cold Analytical Mind (An Actor) controls Your Warm Body. You are a Walking Thinking Mind that is desperatly trying to manage the Instable Fluctuating Emotions (now called Desire) and the Imagination (now called Fantasy). We are back to You again.

The best thing to do is to skip the whole concept of Mind and start to look for something else.

George Lakoff has a theory that is able to give you some insight.

When we are born we come out of a Body and we become a new Body. The Body has to learn to crawl. Crawling gives us the feeling that we were moving-away (Mother) and moving to-something (Mother?). Crawling is an emotion.

Our most difficult learning process is to learn to stand-“up” and to “keep balance“. In all cultures “Up” is more important than “Down“. Management is always on the upper floor and God is Up in the heavens and the Devil is Down in hell.

The feeling of “Up” is basically a bias. We are so dominated by our difficult childhood learning process that we Evaluate many things with our “Up-feeling“. Thinking with the “Up” is getting you Down. It kills self-confidence. We believe that we think Up with our head (Brain) and the Brain (Mind) is the manager.

Let’s get back to what You are. You are your Body and your Body is open to its environment.

Lakoff found that the sentences we speak contain metaphors. Many metaphors are connected to the body. We use our organs to define the types of truth. We feel with our heart (com-passion). We feel with our bellies (In-tuition, inner teaching). We also feel with our stomach. Our stomach tells us that we want to express something. Funny enough these places in the Body (the Chakra’s) are independent of Culture. The reason is that every human shares the same body.

When you believe something you will feel this with your heart. You will feel excitement. The rythm of your heartbeat will change. When somebody is explaining something and you don’t see the picture with your inner eye (your imagination) don’t believe him. Ask somebody to draw what he is trying to explain. If your stomach protests ask a question. If you want to do something with what you believe you will feel it in your solar plexus (Navel). Don’t hesitate Act.

Now I want to come back to the foundation Russell was looking for. When you use your body the basic level to reason with is Earth. What we See on Earth is what is and what is does not need an explanation. Trees grow without any theory. The clouds move without any theory.

If you want to develop a theory start to look with attention (Focus). Be aware and watch what is happening on Earth. What is happening on Earth is always Cyclic. The Earth moves around the Sun. The Moon moves around the Earth. The Planets move around the Sun. Seeds turn into flowers and produces seeds again.

When we try to predict these movements we find patterns. These patterns are stages in a cyclic process of enfolding. The patterns are waves and waves are strongly related to Music (Pythagoras). The patterns in Music create overtones. They interfere. Short term Cycles are part of long term cycles. You’re body is a Standing Wave and it resonates with other Standing Waves with the same wavelength.

Out of the analyses of these patterns mathematics was created. Mathematics is about Music and Beauty. A mathematical theory has to be beautiful. If it is not beautiful it is not correct. This is simple. You have to feel enlightened when you understand mathematics. If you don’t get this feeling your teacher does not understand what he is explaining.

The problem of the Set of Sets can now be solved easily. The Whole is part of itself. The Whole is One but also Two. It is OBSERVING itself. It is conscious.

Perhaps now you understand why the Ears are the place in the Body that controls your Balance. Close your Eyes and Listen to the Rhythms in your Body and Nature. Erase your non-existing Mind. Get back to the level of You, Your Body. Observe your Self. Become conscious. Feel the warmth of your skin. Let the images come and observe them without touching them. Feel your gentle Soul move in and out when you breathe. Concentrate on your Belly (the level of In-tuition). Suddenly you get an Insight. Spirit has hit you. You feel full of Joy about the beauty of the Whole. You found the foundation Russell was looking for. Its You.

Have you ever met a friend that suddenly was acting like a Machine? He is repeating the same “exiting” story all the time. He has found IT and IT is about self-empowerment. I am sure he has invited you to come to a free seminar.

He will tell you that he is learning to become a coach. He has to learn the trade and the trade is learnt from the bottom up. That’s why he is a volunteer. He has aquired many new friends (Buddies) who are also volunteers. You have to meet them! They will tell the same exiting story about becoming a new empowered person.

Probably he did not tell you that he has already spend an enormous amount of money. He will not tell you that to reach the next levels he needs more and more money. Perhaps he is even lending money because this is the best investment there is. It will be payd back with interest when he is at the top of the pyramid.

In the pyramid game you let people pay to sell the product they already use. They are so motivated that their enthusiasm will motivate you also and the first try is always for free! It is called a pyramid because the first person who starts the pyramid makes the most out of IT.

Brainwashing is a result of a long history of training (and torturing) English Children and English soldiers. The English training system was so successful that it was copied all over the world. It used verbal manipulating, bull baiting, confronting, frightening, confessing and group-pressure.

The System uses a person called a Bully (Drill-Sergeant). The Bully is surrounded by potential heros. They are being prepared to go to a war called Life. If you show that you are a coward the bully uses you to show the others how strong they are. In the first phase you have to pass many tests.

You fail when you cry, shout, vomit and even shit in your trousers. If this happens all the potential heros laugh at you. They look when the Bully is doing the dirty work. He is responsible and they are just taking the orders.

A very interesting verbal manipulating technique was copied out of the old art of Rhetoric’s. It is now called Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). NLP chains arguments that are proven right in isolation into a highly convincing chain of words.

People that are not educated in reasoning cannot find the flaw in the argument. When they have found the flaw the Bully uses his tricks and they just stop asking nasty questions.

Let’s start the SEMINAR

The seminar will take many days in an isolated expensive location. It will be full of long (6 hour(!)) Pep Talks. You are not allowed to ask stupid questions, eat, drink and go to the toilet without permission. When you are asking clever questions you are asked to show your intelligence on stage. The super bull (the Coach) will show you that you are stupid.

Members of the gang (Volunteers) are watching the behavior of the trainees all the time. The only thing you are allowed is to do is to agree with the Coach on stage. You have to show your approval by clapping or stamping with your feet. The Coach will tell you when this has to happen. You will rise very early and you will go to bed very late but you are strong.

This will not break your resistance. You know that in the end you will feel EMPOWERED. The Coach has literally blown your mind. You are transformed in a happy mindless person.

Silence. Attention please. The coach is talking.

“IN THIS TRAINING, YOU’RE GOING TO FIND OUT YOU’VE BEEN ACTING LIKE ASSHOLES. ALL YOUR FUCKING CLEVERNESS AND SELF-DECEPTION HAVE GOTTEN YOU NOWHERE!”

“I’ll tell you everything there is to know about life,” “What is, is, and what ain’t, ain’t.” And that’s about all there was. True enlightenment, is knowing you are a MACHINE“.

To understand you are a machine you are treated like a machine and the result is a human machine that is able to sell the concept to the next victim who is not aware he is a machine. He is still conscious, thinking, feeling, creating and sensing and this is utterly stupid.

The only one who is allowed to feel, think, sense, create is Your TEACHER. He is the programmer and the only thing you have to do is run his programs.

Remember all the problems in your life are caused by fear, the fear of failure, rejection, ridicule and humiliation. He will show you your fears. He will reject you, ridicule your stupid questions, force you to admit all your failures he has invented for you and he will humiliate you all the time.

Embrace your fears. If your relationship ends what do you do? You can dwell on it, crawl into yourself, withdraw, and surrender. Shit happens but you can learn from it, grow, develop, be prepared for a better relationship in the future. Stop being afraid.

Look at him. He is strong. He is The Father, Your only Friend, the Cowboy, The Perfect Lover, The Entrepeneur. He is rich. His relationships are perfect. Confess you are poor because you are creating your own reality and you are doing something wrong.

Confess you have left your partner because you are unable to give. Confess your parents did not treat you the way you needed to be treated because of You! You are the reason of all the shit in your whole life.

Forget your past. Live in The Now. Give your love to Him. He is the Stage Magician. He will show you all his tricks. The only thing you have to do is believe him. Somewhere in the future you will find the perfect relationship. This will be another machine, your BUDDY, your mate.

It’s Up to You.

In the end the Coach will have total control over your MIND. Than he will tell you the final message: “YOU ARE WHAT YOU ARE“. Finally You are Perfect. You are his little machine and he will Love You For That.

In 1960 John Rosenberg left his wife and children. He went to St. Louis, changed his name into Werner Erhard and sold cars. Until 1971 he was selling and managing salespersons. Suddenly he got “IT (Latin “EST”)”. He could make a lot of money in the self-empowerment movement and created Erhard Seminar Training. The first seminar was held in October, 1971, at the Jack Tar Hotel in San Francisco with nearly a 1,000 trainees in attendance.

During the first year, Erhard himself led all the trainings, since he was the only one who had mastered the hours of materials he had stitched together from his Sales Experience (Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich), Freud, Hinduism, Maslow, Hubbards Scientology, Mind Dynamics, Dale Carnegie, Maxwell Maltz Psycho-cybernetics, Carl Rogers Client Centered Therapy, Alan Watts Zen Buddhism and anything else that Erhard’s intuition told him would work in the exploding human potential market.

After a while others bounded onto the stages to repeat the same lines and deliver the same material. Always they conducted the EST training exactly the way Erhard had done. They trained countless hours to do it the way he told them to. The trainers are salesman. They are paid commissions for the number of people they recruit and train, not for the number of people they truly help.

Erhard loved to play the drill-sergeant. A huge part of the seminar consisted of a nonstop barrage of verbal insults, taunting the participants in the straight-backed chairs, insisting they were all worthless human beings who clung to beliefs about themselves and their own lives that were rooted in ridiculous notions about reason, logic, and understanding.

“Don’t give me your goddamn belief system, you dumb motherfucker!” one of Erhard’s est trainers once thundered at a man who had raised his hand on the first day with a question about the need to believe in something, in anything. What Erhard left out of the training was any sense of human compassion and emotion. He and his trainers angrily rejected such trivialities in the training sessions. Compassion, after all, was something reserved for life’s “victims.” In the world of est, as in the world of Werner Erhard, there were no victims.

It is estimated that some 700,000 people did the training before the seminars were halted in 1991. EST was transformed in the Landmark Forum. Harry Rosenberg, Erhard’s brother, heads Landmark Education Corp. (LEC), which does some $50 million a year in business and has attracted some 300,000 participants. LEC is headquartered in San Francisco, as was EST, and has 42 offices in 11 countries.

One of the trainees of an EST seminar asked Werner Erhard the question he was waiting for. “I don’t get it“. Werner answered the stupid question with the perfect answer. “There’s nothing to get so you got it”. “I get it” the trainee said, “So getting it is whatever you get” “If that’s what you got.” Got it?

You get what you want when you got it. That is the only thing you have to learn. You got it when you sell the seminar to your family and friends. You hope that things will go the way you want and if they don’t go the way you want, you still have not understood that:

YOU’RE ACTING LIKE A ASSHOLE. ALL YOUR FUCKING CLEVERNESS AND SELF-DECEPTION HAVE STILL GOTTEN YOU NOWHERE.

About Guanxi

Guanxi is a Chinese term, generally translated as “networks” or “connections”. Although guanxi is often characterized as uniquely Chinese, similar relationships occur in other nations, especially in East Asia.

In China guanxi has become especially significant in the last fifty years because it provides individuals with a patterned, structured set of relationships that to some extent replace the social networks of family, village, and clan that are more difficult to maintain in the face of population relocations, urbanization, and Westernization.

Guanxi is a mechanism for dealing with social uncertainty in a complex social environment.

Guanxi has been a significant element in Chinese business relationships for several hundred years. Wide webs of guanxi tie Chinese businessmen and Chinese firms into a cohesive and functioning economy. The success and even survival of many businesses rests on the establishment and maintenance of guanxi.

For Western businesspeople, the idea of guanxi is a useful reminder that trust, understanding, and personal knowledge can be vital components of economic relationships.

The development of guanxi is not something that takes place instantly, and this can be one of the frustrating aspects of doing business in China for non-Asians who are accustomed to striking a deal and moving on.

Most guanxi relationships are based on individuals’ having something in common, a phenomenon called tong in Chinese. The commonalities may be the fact of having attended or graduated from the same school, having the same place of employment, working in the same industry, or coming from the same village or region. Guanxi relationships have a strong emotional element, something easily overlooked by outsiders.

The essence of guanxi is that each relationship carries with it a set of expectations and obligations for each participant. A guanxi relationship may lead a person to feel obligated to help someone. Those who meet these obligations gain face and status and expand their guanxi network. Refusing to help is a sign of inhumanity and can bring disgrace. Guanxi involves the notion of honor and respect, two core values in Chinese society.

There are a variety of customs and practices in the West that reflect concepts similar to those used to explain guanxi, concepts and rules that define the relationship between individuals and groups. For example, traditionally European etiquette required a person to be introduced by a mutual acquaintance, never simply to strike up a conversation with a stranger, even at a private event.

Nonetheless, in the West ties tend to be less strong, less structured, and less based on expectations. Old or distant relationships are also less important in the West than they are in China.

The main reason is that Western People are acting on the short term. They want to strike a deal and move on.They still have not learnt from the results that came out of a tournament that was organised to solve the so called iterated Prisoners Dilemma.

The Prisoners Dillema is a game in which two players may each “cooperate” with or “defect” (i.e. betray) the other player. If two players play the Prisoner’s dilemma more than once in succession (that is, having memory of at least one previous game), it is called iterated Prisoner’s dilemma. Robert Axelrod created popular interest in his book The Evolution of Cooperation (1984).

The best strategy was Tit for Tat, developed by Anatol Rapoport. It was the simplest of any program entered. When you use Tit for Tat the only thing you have to do is offer cooperation. If the other is not cooperating retaliate, forgive and start to cooperate all over again.

I think you understand what I want to show. If we involve the Chinese notions of honor and respect, offer cooperation, forgive and (this is very important) leave people that don’t do this out of our networks we will create a cohesive and functioning economy.

It is simple! Just as simple as the Strategy of Tit-for-Tat and just as simple like many other things in life.

A Practical Approach to Create a Balanced Community

The current generation of programmers are doing what Edsger Wybe Dijkstra hoped not would happen.

They are the cause of the mess we are in. They forgot to keep the balance between structure (Thinking) and meaning (Emotion).

The Managers of the Programmers are “out of tricks” and have become cynical.

They don’t believe there is a way out. They are “muddling trough”, reacting on every major critical event with an impulsive re-action. It will be hard to convince them that there is a solution to their problems.

The major target are the Users within or the Customers of the companies. They feel very stressed and don’t have a clue why this is happening to them.

Their asset is that they Know How they are doing their job and they are able to Articulate What they are Doing. The only thing they don’t see is the Cycle. They are Part of a Whole without seeing it. This is normal.

When we ask the User what they are doing we give them a simple tool to paint a picture of the flow of their activities. If they have done this we generate the processes that are supporting them instantly. This will motivate them to go on.

In the next step we make a connection between Action and Meaning. We ask the user to define the meaning of the terms they are using. We could use Wiki. Wiki makes it possible to start a dialogue about the meaning.

This dialogue will create mutual understanding (Consensus) and in the end a Shared Convention, a mapping of meaning from person to person, culture (community, context) to culture (community, context). The next step is to transform Meaning into Structure.

The person that was an expert in the transformation of meaning to structure was Sjir Nijssen. He developed a method called NIAM. NIAM has generated many dialects called ORM, FORM, RIDDLE, FCO-IM and DEMO.

The basic idea of all these methods is to analyze human communication in terms of the sentences we speak and the commitments humans make to the each other.

NIAM takes out of a sentence the verbs (Action) and the nouns (Structure) and of course the numbers and creates a semantic model (the so called Universe of Discourse).

What Nijssen understood was that a computer is able to register Facts (reality we agree upon). The facts are stored in memory. If we all agree about the facts we can use them to start reasoning.

When we know what the user is doing and what he means we can move to other actors he has defined in his activity-diagram. We just perform the same process over and over again. Every time a new user (actor, role) is added we restart the dialogue about meaning.

At a certain point in this process of inquiry we will notice that the meaning in the context is stabilized. It has turned into a shared convention. What we also will notice is that a faint cycle (or a cycle in a cycle) becomes visible.

It will be full of strange loops and useless activities. Some people in the context will produce and others will just throw away what the others are producing. They don’t know because they don’t communicate on the level of their community.

This is the moment to start a new dialogue. The dialogue of Reflection (Why?). We are able to show to the actors in the community the whole. We call this tool a Monitor.

We will give them the opportunity to start a shared process of innovation (using the imagination). We can give them tools to Explore, to Design new activities and to Analyze the Facts (find patterns). We can even give them tools to Play with (games, simulator). All the time the Monitor will show them the state of their joint effort. I am certain the community will clean itself, get into balance, with joy.

In communities and organizations and of course society there are many stable invisible infrastructures. The visual activities of the users have to be connected to these layers. This has to be done by programmers. They have to define interfaces. User-Data is converted into messages that jump out of the layer when a human interference (mostly a decision) is really needed.

The consequences of this approach will be enormous. Many people will be out of work but they will be needed in the next step of Collective Innovation.

Why Cycles Feel like Bah, Bach, Beat or Beach Boys

Everybody knows the Cycle of the Seasons. The seasons are created because the Earth is cycling the Sun. In Winter we are introspective and mostly stay inside our house.

In Summer we are very active (extravert) at the outside of our house. In Autumn we become moody and in Spring we start to plan. We are structure-ring. Centers are moving around centers and everybody understands that the movement of the Sun and the Moon affects our body.

We can dig deeper and deeper and all the time new centers appear (organs, cells, molecules, atoms,….). The same applies when we move up (Galaxies, Universe, …).

Human beings share many centers but at a certain point they are also are disconnected. We are disconnected by our bodies and our cultures.

To connect we have to start a dialogue. Dialogues show themselves in many ways. The dialogue of speech is a very visible dialogue. An invisible dialogue is the exchange of signals of the body (eyes, face, movement of hands and intonation of speech).

When we move down or move up all the cycles are invisible. We don’t have the senses to sense them. Science has developed instruments (microscope, telescope, cyclotron, ..) to make them visible.

Please remember that the instruments are created by programmers and are therefore producing an illusion. The programmers have programmed scientific theory in a machine. The Galaxy the Hubble Telescope is showing is an image of the Galaxy. It is not the Galaxy itself.

A cycle moves through stages and the stages are the stages of the seasons: Imagination (Winter), Structure (Spring), Action (Summer), Center (Consciousness, Indian Summer) and Meaning (Autumn)). The stages can be found on every level of the Self-Referencing enfolding Field.

Perhaps you think that I want you to stop structure-ring. Structure-ring is creating an Illusion and if we go on we will end up in a total Illusion called Virtual Reality. Our bodies will be connected to a very advanced simulator.

We will be feeded by the System and our muscles will be trained by the System. Perhaps we will live for-ever and never die. We will be living in a world without resistance, playing very complex games and enjoy this. This is predicted in science-fiction and we are not far away from this.

The only thing we forget is that somebody has to get into action when the computer stops because of a software-failure or when the energy-system stops. Those people are not able to enjoy the Simulator.

Perhaps the experts will simply stop the System and start to enjoy life themselves (Terrorists). We have to prevent doing this and we need Security Systems and Systems to control the Security Systems and in the end we simply don’t know how to solve this problem. We have fallen in the trap of complexity.

Focusing on one aspect of the Cycle will always create a disaster. Ideas have to be implemented. There is no meaning (Emotion) without getting into Action. We can only create Harmony when we Balance all the five aspects of the Cycle.

The beautiful thing of a cycle is that we are able to map the cycle into another domain called waves. Remember sinus and co-sinus at school. A moving rotating cycle is a wave.

To balance a cycle we have to feel the harmony of the waves it is producing. Harmonic Cycles produce Harmonic Waves and Harmonic waves are called Music. So now you know why some cycles feel like Bah, Bach, Beat or Beach Boys. They resonate or don’t resonate with your musical mood.

Things you Cannot Buy

To define a long term strategy, we have to predict the future. To predict the future we have to understand the past. The longer we look back, the better we can look forward.

Everything is determinated by cycles. A well know cycle is the Kondratiev. This is the cycle of Innovation. Its cycles-time is about 53 years.

Fifty years ago a new innovation in computing was emerging, the IBM 360. The 360, the All Purpose Computer, became a standard in computing.

A hundred years ago the big factories of Ford and Taylor were dominating the world. It is not difficult to see that the IBM 360 was the next step in the ideal of Taylor to produce a fully mechanized production-facility.

Funny enough the most important innovation of our time, The Internet, can be seen as an IBM 360 where the connectors between the processors (now called servers) are far away.

The capacity of the current network, transporting the standardized (XML-)messages from server to server is so enormous that is it almost possible to work real-time.

Does this mean that the next step of Innovation will be one central operating system that is controlling the Internet?

To find out what will happen we have to look at a new long term cycle, the cycle of Culture. Its periodicity is about 250 years. 250 years ago we are in the time of the French Revolution.

The bourgeoisie (the new entrepreneurs) hated the decadent Kings and the people took over the Power (Liberté, Égalité, and Fraternité). In the end the Centralized State, its centralized institutions, and finally the Centralized Companies were created. At this moment we are in a comparable situation.

The Central State en the big companies are, just like the Kings in the 18th Century, loosing their power. The People, now called customers, are looking for an alternative.

The big Companies are showing ‘decadent” behavior. They are wasting valuable resources ((tax) money) and are delivering a low quality of service. The customers (and the citizens) are highly dissatisfied. If nothing is done the possibility of a new Revolution is not zero.

In software, we see the rising of the Open-Source Movement. It is a rebellion against the power of the big software companies (especially Microsoft). We are in a time of reconstruction and it will take many years before the new stable infrastructure will arise (called Web 2.0).

Of course Google will be a certain winner. It will be one of the major worldwide Powers of IT for a long time. They are centralizing the Internet.

If we look for the short term we can use the Juglar cycle (10 years). This cycle predicts a movement from Individuality (I do it Myself) to the Collective (Let’s do it together).

Collaboration will be a major issue the next ten years. Google is utilizing this trend by buying many companies that are offering “sharing services”.

The interesting question is Will Google win or will the Open Source Movement win?

My intuition tells it will be the last one. The Open Source Movement is much more flexible in their response. Google is rich and will become richer. The Open Source Movement is not based on money but on enthusiasm (Spirit) and E-motivation (Soul) and a very important point Craftsmanship. These are things you cannot buy.

The Comeback of the Extended Family

Your daughter phones you. She is trained to become a nurse. She wants to practice in a hospital in South Africa. She has a Shortage of money and is not able to pay for the airplane-ticket. She asks for a loan. You give her the money because you can afford it and of course you love her.

What will happen if she goes to a bank? The Authorisator looks at her account and tells her that unfortunately a loan is not possible. When you go to the bank a nice person (your Account Manager) will tell you what products they offer when you have a Surplus of money.

The main difference between a bank and a family is that a family is based on trust. A bank is based on mis-trust. A small percentage of their clients did not pay back the loan. They don’t want to make this mistake again.

The family and the extended family (tribe) were, for a very long time, responsible for raising and educating children and created structures of moral and financial support.

In the Western Culture the extended family is replaced by the Institution, a Rule Based System, created by Programmers. The system is trying to match shortages (money, people, resources, and needs) and surpluses (money, people, resources, ideas). It has fallen into the trap of complexity.

Institutions are replaced by the most natural form of cooperation, the Extented Family (The Community).

Trust is created by showing Honesty, Understanding the Other and Keeping the Promise You Make. The Community makes the system simple and effective again because it operates on a human scale.

New innovative cooperative banks are emerging where human beings are a having a dialogue about their shortages and surpluses. Of course they use invisible Payment-Infrastructure as a stable layer to build on.

How the Programmer stopped the Dialogue

A dialogue is a cyclic process where two humans are trying to understand what the other is meaning. The final test of their mutual understanding is activity. If this activity fails they have a reason to start a new cycle. If the activity succeeds they are in the flow.

A failure starts the process of imagination. It generates an idea. If one of them treats the failure as a mistake the collaboration stops and they are in a conflict. At that moment collaboration changes into competition if they are unable to solve the conflict. A successful chain of collaboration-cycles (mistakes) leads to innovation and to the feeling of joy.

If we program a dialogue meaning is transformed into a structure. Meaning is fluent. A structure is fixed. Water turns into ice. The warmth of the cooperation cools down. Activities are changed into procedures, rules to obey.

A long time ago people told stories and enjoyed them. They lived in a secure environment and the others were unknown. They lived far beyond the horizon. When people started to move around the world they started to write letters. Sometimes it took many months to complete a dialogue-cycle.

The cycle-time of the dialogue was shortened by invention of the postal system. The postman collected the letters and sorted the letters by destination. The letters were transported to a destination where the reverse process took place. The postman became a social person in the area he addressed. Everyday he walked the same cycle and new everything that happened in his neighborhood.

The content was secured by a small container (an envelop). The envelop was identified by the destination of the sender and the receiver. Because of the innovation of the transportation-system the cycle-time of the dialogue shortened. Horses and carriages changed into trains and planes. The shape of the container changed but the postman staid and made his roundtrip.

In the last phase the programmers started to act. Trains and planes were controlled by time-tables and more advanced tools. The role of the machinist, the trucker, the pilot and finally the postman changed from innovative collaborating human being into people that were dominated by a machine. They have to obey the procedure. They are controlled by the software-system and when the software fails they fail but they are unable to learn from their mistakes and start a new dialogue. The programmer is far away and cannot be reached.

Finally the letter is transformed into an email and people are bombarded by messages (spam, advertisement) they don’t want to receive. The dialogue has stopped.

The Email has not only stopped the dialogue. It has also destroyed the art of writing. People don’t take the time to reflect and get to the essence of the message they want to send back.

When they are stressed their return-message (an Email) is an impulsive reaction. Sometimes it generates a conflict and they really don’t know why. They also don’t have an idea how to solve the conflict and move to the level of mutual understanding again.

Why we think we understand and don’t know we don’t understand

People have to communicate to collaborate. Many people think communication is about sending and receiving a message.

What they don’t see is that to understand the message it has to be interpreted. Aldous Huxley has formulated the problem in a simple sentence: “Every man has his own universe”. We are a unique product of all the interactions in our life and a word has a different meaning to a different person.

A meaning is a unique interpretation of a message the other is sending. If we program a communication between a program and a human or a program to a program we encounter this problem all the time.

The interpretation needs a standard, a convention we agree on. This convention is learned by a human being and agreed upon when we program.

The big problem is that there are many conventions at the level of the human (called a culture) and in the programming community. Most of the time we don’t know what convention is used.

The effect is mis-understanding and this is exactly what happened between the programmer and the designer, the lady in the call centre and the software she is using and the lady in de call centre and the customer.

We think we understand but we don’t understand and the big problem is that we don’t know that we are mis-understandig. The only way to solve this problem is to start a dialogue.

About The Illusion of Collaboration

I want to focus on the “Programmer in You”. With the “Programmer in You” I mean the capability of the human being to structure, to program his life and his environment.

Usually we call this ability Thinking. I hope you agree that a human being has more capabilities like Feeling, Imagining, Sensing and Consciousness. We imagine we can program them into a machine.

I want to play in a very small domain. We call this domain a context, an environment or an ecology. To make it very simple we imagine only two human beings.

To evolve the context they have the possibility to cooperate, to dominate the other or the work alone. This is also happening in large contexts.

Companies have a choice to compete, to cooperate or to work alone. Personally I don’t think the last possibility is realistic in the current situation. To make things more simple we assume that cooperation is the best way to act.

The question I want to raise is “Is it possible to cooperate by using the ability “Thinking”? The answer is simply no. We need the other faculties also.

We have to sense the environment, be creative when something happens we don’t expect and we have to evaluate possible actions. Emotions evaluate and expectations are related to thinking about the future.

When we only have the faculty of a Programmer the only thing we can do is to program (think about) senses, emotions and action. This is a very important insight.

When we are programming we are programming everything but what we program is not what exists in reality. Programmed senses are not comparable to our real senses. They are a subset, a model of reality and a computer is a beautifull tool to implement a model and nothing more.

So if we program Collaboration we are creating something very special. We are creating a thought (the effect of thinking). We are creating the Illusion of Collaboration.

This does not mean that the Illusion of Collaboration is blocking Collaboration. To collaborate in real life we have to use our other faculties also.

You are the Cause of Your own Problems

Many people are stressed and the amount of stress is increasing. They pay their bills but a company is telling them that they have not paid their bill. They phone the call centre and prove they are right but the operator is telling them they are wrong. A week later the company sends a reminder. They call again and get the same answer. People spend hours waiting in line to talk to somebody that cannot handle their problem.

When they remove the obstacle more obstacles appear. The computer system of the company is sending the wrong data to another company. Suddenly somebody is blocking their credit card. They phone the call centre and now nobody understands anything anymore.

Old obstacles come back. It starts all over again because somebody has converted old data to new data and has forgotten to clean the old wrong data. Years later they still have not paid their bill and have to pay an enormous amount of interest or worse are now called into court.

They are in a loop and the loop and everything that has happened to them can be traced back to something called software or the computer. Many people don’t realize that a machine is not “not working”. It is doing exactly what the human beings have programmed into the software. Somewhere behind the nice lady in the call centre, slowly changing into a stressed bitch, is another human being, called a programmer. He has done something wrong.

If we ask the programmer what went wrong he will tell you that he just did what the designer was telling him to do. The designer talked with the business people. The business people want to support the customer and the customer is you. Again we see a loop.

It seems that you are the cause of your own problems but you don’t know how to solve this. You are powerless and many psychologists can explain you this is exactly the cause of stress and stress related diseases.

The funny thing is that you are not powerless. You are the customer and companies invest huge amounts of money to keep you satisfied. If you don’t buy their product they are broke in a short time. The only thing you don’t know is how to use your power.

About Fields, Parts and Spinoza

How do we Talk about a Field? Let’s take The Sea and the Wind as an example. The examples are taken from the Internet: “The Sea Is Watching“. “The Sea is calm“. “Our relationship with the Wind is often uncertain“.

We talk about the Sea in terms of a Personality. They are “like-us”. They are alive.

Now look at a Car. The Car is definitely a personality. They are designed to create this feeling. Are the Wheels of the Car Alive? I don’t think so. Wheels are part-of the Field called Car.

So now we have Parts and Fields.

Fields have a Freedom To Move. Parts are constrained by the Field. They have to move where the Field is going to.

Parts are connected to a Frame. Fields resonate.

Again I cite out of the document “the Holographic Universe”:

“Since the dawn of time there have been two conflicting explanations for the nature and structure of the world in which we live. Those can be most simply stated as the field and the particle. These two conflicting ideas appear in Greek thought, Democritus stressing the field and Heraclitus the particle. Today, fields are stressed in relativity physics, while particles are emphasized in quantum mechanics”.

“Field theory can be interwoven with particle theory in an attempt to better understand biological processes. This effect will enable us to approach an understanding of life because we can conceptualize all structures and functions, all levels from the electronic to the super molecular, as one single unit”.

Parts are Niels Bohr and Fields are Albert Einstein.

Fields & Parts is also Spinoza.

Spinoza envisaged A God that does not rule over the universe by providence, but a God which itself is part of the deterministic system of which everything in nature is a part. Thus, God is the natural world.

So Nature is Parts & Fields.

Parts are the domain of the Tools and Fields are the domain of the Living and Parts are there to support the Living not to Dominate them.

Look at the Sea. The sea is a system of waves. We see waves but in reality (facts) the sea is a system of small particles of water that are moving UP and DOWN, FORWARDS and BACKWARDS (a cycle). A wave is a Collective Experience. It is a representation of a System, a Field, a Whole.

Waves are bounded by the coast. The coast is a BOUNDARY. If the earth would be a system that only contains water, the water would move around the rotating globe of the earth (in a cycle) in a very simple cyclic pattern until the wave would meet itself. This simple pattern is determinated by the influence of the Moon (and The Sun). They are also in a cyclic motion.

Because of the boundaries waves interfere. The interference of the waves creates a new combined wave and the combined wave combines with other combined waves. This process goes on for ever.

Waves are moved by the WIND. Wind is a MOVEMENT (its main mover is the Sun). Air is moving UP en DOWN, FORWARDS and BACKWARDS (a cycle). Air contains many particles (also water-particles) and is another collective experience. It is again a representation of a System, a Field, a Whole

Without wind the waves calm down and the sea is tranquille (Flat). All the turbulence is gone. Sometimes we like a turbulent sea and sometimes we like a tranquille sea. It depends on our MOOD, our Emotion. Our emotion changes and it looks for RESONANCE. One field (the human being) resonates with another field (The Sea). Another Field (The wind) resonates with the Sea.

Perhaps now you understand why the original meaning of the term emotion is movement (Latin, movere). A human being is a moving field (an Emotion) that is connected to a memory.

Resonance is comparable with the term “look-a-like” or the statement “being on the same wavelength”. We resonate (feel in harmony with) something that feels like our own wave pattern. We are constantly (!) seeking for this feeling called Love, Friendship, Compassion. We are not alone in the universe. Other fields (called environment) are creating an interference.

People change because their environment (their context) changes. We communicate (speak sentences) about this with others to understand our selves.

We need the feeling of constancy (harmony, balance) and Constancy is WHAT WE ARE and WANT TO BE. Without the feeling of constancy we are lost. We will go totally mad if we can’t find any pattern in our history that is stored in our memory.

We create and (recreate) a story (a pattern) of our life that suits our purpose. Our purpose is also a pattern we create out of our memory. Purpose is a positive or negative expectation of the future. We expect things to go good or bad.

So I hope you understand (feel the resonance) that looking at the world with a FIELD-spectacle creates new opportunities. The most interesting opportunity is that we can accomplish Harmony by creating a resonating Whole (a field).

Why Good programmers have to be Good Listeners

Edsger Wybe Dijkstra (1930-2000) was a Dutch Computer Scientist. He received the 1972 Turing Award for fundamental contributions in the area of programming languages.

One of the famous statements of Dijkstra is “Besides a mathematical inclination, an exceptionally good mastery of one’s native tongue is the most vital asset of a competent programmer“.

Why is this so important?

People communicate externally and internally (!) in their native tongue. If they use another language much of the nuances of the communication is lost. When people of different languages communicate they have to translate the communication to their internal language.

A computer language is also a language. It is a language where every nuance is gone. With the term nuance (I am a Dutch native speaker) I mean something that also could be translated into the word meaning. A computer language is formal and human communication is informal. We communicate much more than we are aware of when we speak.

So Programming is a Transformation of the Human Domain of Meaning to the Machine-Domain of Structure.

A programmer with a mathematical inclination (being analytical) AND an exceptional good mastery of one’s native language is the only one who can built a bridge between the two worlds.

When he (or she, woman are better in this!!!) is doing this he knows he is throwing away a lot of value but it is the consequence of IT. Machines are not humans (People that are Mad act like Machines).

Machines are very good in repetition. Humans don’t like repetition so Machines and Humans are able to create a very useful complementary relationship.

The person that understood this very well was Sjir Nijssen. He developed with many others something called NIAM. NIAM has generated many dialects called ORM, FORM, RIDDLE, FCO-IM, DEMO. The basic idea of all these methods is to analyze human communication in terms of the sentences we speak. It takes out of a sentence the verbs and the nouns (and of course the numbers) and creates a semantic model of the so called Universe of Discourse.

What Nijssen understood was that a computer is able to register FACTS (reality we don’t argue about anymore) and that facts are stored in a database. If we all agree about the facts we can use the facts to start reasoning. Want to know more about reasoning. Have a look at this website.

To create a program that supports the user a good programmer has to be a good listener and a highly skilled observer. Users are mostly not aware of their Universe of Discourse. They are immersed in their environment (their CONTEXT). Many techniques have been developed to help the observer to make it possible to recreate the context without killing the context (Bahktin). What do Artists and Military Man have in common?

john constable A few months ago I wanted to make an extensive horoscope to learn more about myself, my ex-wife (Merel Visse) and our relationship. I used Astro.com.

There are many choices and I ordered a Jungian Horoscope using a different name. Astro.com uses Archetypes and I believe in them. They are the language of the Unknown.

Much later I found additional features of Astro.com. One of them is a search for look-a-likes in history, People that have the same astrological pattern. I searched for my wife and myself and our look-a-likes were all Artists or Military Man. This started a lot of reflection.

What do Artists and Military Man have in common?

I have always had the urge to become a military man or (better) a Constable. It is not a coincidence (!) that my name is John Constable. (Dutch name : Johan Konstapel). I carry the name of a very famous English romantic painter. I am a strange combination of an artist and a military man.

Constable quietly rebelled against the artistic culture that taught artists to use their imagination to compose their pictures rather than nature itself. Constable was not painting nature he became nature itself. He inspired the French impressionist of late nineteenth century.

I have a lot in common with him. I love to be immersed in Nature. I have created paintings, poetry and have made music (singing I am a counter tenor). I often wish I knew that it was possible to study Art when I was young.

When I was young I was tested to become a soldier. At that time everybody was obliged to serve in the army. The selection process came up with a spectacular result. They wanted me to become a pilot. Airplanes and especially military airplanes were my hobby. I collected photos of them. I did not enter the Army because my parents were pacifists and at that time I believed in pacifism.

I came to the sad conclusion that pacifism is a dream. War is a human affair and will never go away. I started to read about conflict-resolution. War can be prevented by diplomacy.

I applied for the Foreign Office and was almost hired when the ABN-bank offered me a better proposition. Later I realized that my interest in war and conflict were related to the conflicts in my youth.

I was raised by four parents (Father, Mother, Aunt and Grandfather) who were always fighting. I was the very young diplomat trying to create peace at home. Handling real-life conflicts is still a big problem for me (See also my blog about the Unconnected Child).

turner When I started my company 10 years ago I researched the name Constable. A Constable (Konstapel) is an officer at a Dutch military ship responsible for the canons and the powder.

The aim of the Dutch Military was to explore the world finding places to buy and sell (The famous Dutch Trading Company VOC). They wanted to find new horizons and used weapons to protect themselves. They also used weapons to kill their opponents. The Dutch were really very aggressive people that covered their aggression with religion. This made it very simple to find a name, a logo (ship) and slogan “leave no stone unturned”.

I wanted to help people to discover new horizons in their work and later in themselves. Of course this also applied to me and my wife. The company is a vehicle to support our own process of discovery.

I think I have found the answer to the question.

An artist is an explorer. He explores Inner Space and expresses his findings in Outer Space. A military man explores Outer Space and expresses his findings in Outer Space.

Military man don’t want to fight. They want to play in the War Room with tiny canons, boats and tin-soldiers. The soldiers are not real. They are far away and playing in a movie. When they die they leave the stage and start living again.

strauss Military man are also romantics. They love to practice in nature. They love uniforms. They bring them back to the time when war was a romantic affair with beautifull ladys dressed in white dancing the night away. They want to be pilots and don’t want to kill anybody. They just want to be free like a bird in the sky.

Military man get stressed when war becomes a major personal conflict. Suddenly they step out of their romantic movie in Reality and don’t know how to handle the situation. They know how to solve conflicts from a distance. They observe many of them, create new theories and help others to solve them.

They get into a personal conflict when their work is more important than their personal relationship. They get stressed and because of the stress their relationship slowly starts to disconnect. They become lonely survivors shouting out for help.

It explains also why many military man have male buddies, their “brothers in arms”. Solving a conflict with your partner creates an eternal band. Solving a conflict with a partner on a distance is impossible.

What can we learn?

Solving a conflict with your partner creates an eternal band. Avoiding a conflict creates a conflict. Many small avoided conflicts ad up to a crisis. A crisis that is not seen as a accident accelalerates into a war. A war destructs everything even the people that win the war. They are left with the memories.

My_Lai_massacre War is a product of stress and stress is created when people stop to create and collaborate. They stop to create when they spend all their time to make money. They spend so much time making money that they don’t have the time to spend the money. When they spend the money they buy things that are almost never used like six cars, two houses etc. They buy to aquire status in the group of other people that are spending their time to make money. They are wasting vital resources.

When people are stressed they slowly disconnect and suddenly their relationship has disappeared. Because they are spending their time to work they are not able to observe this. When something happens that is disturbing their pattern they are also unable to solve the conflict because their work has to go on. They are committed to their boss, their clients, their capital and not to their partner.

What happens in a relationship can also happen in other relationships like companies, society and the world.

If we go on with wasting vital resources and don’t see that the world is moving into a huge level of stress we will suddenly wake up by a crisis that is beyond our imagination. I think we are already in this crisis and it is escalating.

This crisis will not be solved by Military Man. This crisis can only be solved by using our collective creative capacities. The nice thing is that a Military Man is really an Artist so they just have to change their focus.

The old slogan of the sixties “Make love no war” has to be changed into “Let’s create a better world together”.

And last but not least.

Let’s dance, sing, explore and enjoy the beautiful creation called Earth.

Why Mobile Communication is Generating Stress

Today I searched the Internet and by coincidence (does it exist?) I found a small document about the dangers of Wifi. It is dated the 28th of April 2007. The most interesting part of this document is a poll. 40% of the voters are not interested in the answer if it is dangerous or not.

They don’t mind because they are addicted to mobile communication. People that are addicted to smoking would give the same answer. I don’t mind if I get cancer. I take the risk. Mobile phones are also creating cancer (and other things I come back to that later) but now I am getting very confused.

We are forbidding smoking because of this and we are not forbidding mobile communication.

What is happening?

The answer is simple. Cigarettes are not produced by government owned companies and mobile communication is. Government has invested billions in infrastructure and many companies are totally dependent on mobile communication. Millions of software programs use it. If we would stop mobile communication the country would come to a still stand.

Ok. So it is a strategic issue. We have to take the risk.

Yes but now I am getting more confused.

Cars are also a strategic issue but here we are advising and training people. So we could train users what to do to prevent the greatest risk. We could tell them not to put the telephone in their pocket or not to keep it against your ear or we could forbid mobile telephones for children or we could decide not to put the transmitters on houses where older people are living or …..

What is happening?

There are a few possibilities.

1. The risk is very low. Research is not telling this.

2. The risk is very high. This could be the case. The risk is so high that they want to prevent that everybody gets into panic. I don’t think so. The risk is high in the long term and not in the short term. To state it simple mobile networks create a high level of stress.

3. They don’t understand the risk. I am convinced this is the case. Scientists believe the human body is acting like a machine that is made out of parts. They don’t know what to do with a field. Parts are related to causal and short term thinking. Fields are related to wholeness and we cannot find one cause that explains it all. Stress is a field, a state, an effect. There are many causes and we cannot handle this with our Western Brain.

Now it is time to explain something.

I use material from a document called “The Holographic Universe, by RICHARD ALAN MILLER, BURT WEBB, and DARDEN DICKSON, Experimental College University of Washington.

A few citations:

“The formation of a certain type of chemical bond known as the resonance bond (which is most easily seen in the case of the Benzene molecule) leads to a peculiar situation in which certain electrons are freed from a local or particular location in the molecule. These are then free to travel around the entire molecule.

The essential fluidity of life may correspond with the fluidity of the electronic cloud in conjugated molecules. Such systems may best be considered as both the cradle and the main backbone of life.

The biological activity or specificity of action of various molecules is intimately related to their structure or their exact three-dimensional spatial configuration.

A constant magnetic field can, in principle, affect the various processes in biological objects.

Such electromagnetic fields normally serve as conveyors of information, from the environment to the organism, within the organism, and among organisms.

Electromagnetic forces can be used to change three fundamental life processes in mammals. These processes are (1) the stimulation of bone growth (2) the stimulation of partial multi-tissue regenerative growth and (3) the influence on the basic level of nerve activity and function. All these affects appear to be mediated through perturbations in naturally pre-existing bioelectronic systems. The organism’s bioelectronic system also seems to be related to levels of consciousness and to biological cycles.

Research carried out with organisms in fields lower or higher than the normal magnetic field strength of the earth inevitably results in deterioration and death of the organisms involved.

Consciousness may be seen as a frame of electrical charges in motion such as electrons bombarding a television screen; personality is a time series of these scintillating frames of consciousness. Personality becomes a reverberating input-output pattern of self creation seeking information or patterns of energy from the environment as well as from its own memories. The personality never recreates itself but creates only a close approximation which is accepted due to the principle of constancy as being the same.

Human beings are better seen as on-going, dynamic, shifting, changing, field entities (or field patterns).

We feel that many of the problems of society that are current today can be traced to our ignorance of, or refusal to embrace, this larger holographic electrodynamic reality in which we live“.

And last but not least:

“Weather systems also have electrical and magnetic correlates. One can see a very positive contact or connection between electromagnetic phenomena associated with weather and the behaviour and health of organisms. A more advanced theory would connect weather changes and changes in the physical environment to behaviour and biological products attributable to organisms. More precisely stated not only does weather in a variety of ways profoundly influence living creatures, but also it is possible that living creatures can influence weather“.

What is happening?

We are creating a highly stressfull situation and it looks like the collective stress is generating stressy weather.

But it is worse.

The Russians and the US (and Chinese?) military are playing with the knowlegde of the Holographic Universe for 35 years. They are playing with electro magnetic fields. The article is written in 1972 and Transcendental warfare, the use of Electro-magnetic fields and Para-Psychology in the battlefield, is about using this knowledge. The people who are doing this research know how it works but they don’t want to reveal this because War is always related to Secrecy.

We are also in a process where the sun is moving closer to the galactic centre. This is creating an exponential growth of electro magnetic radiation. Not only the earth is warming but also the moon and the other planets. On the Website of NASA you can find all the facts.

The movement to the Centre was predicted by The Mayas, The Essenes, The Sufi, The Hopi’s, The Navajo’s and every other Spiritual Leader for a long time ago.

Citation:” Furthermore, this knowledge is not new. It is the main core of the message of the Spiritual Leaders throughout history. It is also discussed, in other terms, by many individuals who characteristically experience psycho energetic phenomena (e.g., psycho kinesis, clairvoyance, telepathy, precognition).

What can we do?

The people that experience “psycho energetic phenomena” know that the Light of Love can save us and The Light will help us if we allow it to help us.

The Spiritual Leaders framed this in a very simple message: Know Yourself and Give Love to the Other.

The message for the Part-thinkers is: Meditate, Relax, Take your Time, Enjoy your Lover, Your Children, Life and Nature.

Turn off your mobile phone.

Use Email.

Create enough time for yourselve and others.

Stop having long useless meetings.

Don’t make too much appointments.

Plan two days of free time.

Plan and act according to your plan.

Take a the risk and be spontaneous.

Do what you promise to do.

Evaluate if all the things you want to accomplish are really needed.

Don’t strive for perfection (the 80/20 rule).

Are we already in a very high state of luxury? Do we need more?

Is it already available somewhere (Copy and Think).

Can we learn from others?

Can we help others? There are many lonely old people that love to have a talk or want to spend some time in Nature. Imagine you are old? What do you want to happen to you? It is a very simple exercise and it is the same message as the Spiritual Leaders are giving only framed in another language.

You can also use the Golden Rule of Ethics of Emmanuel Kant (a well known philosopher) “treat others as you would like to be treated.”

Or to put it in the terms of the Field: Keep in Tune with your Environment.

Money Makes The World go Round

I am working again for a big software company. They have asked me to help to define their strategy. To make this work I wanted to talk with their CEO. His secretary phoned me and I heard that his mother died last night. She died at the age of ninety.

I talked with his secretary about how strange it is when your mother dies and your parents are gone. My father died much earlier. I am their only child.

With the death of your last parent your childhood is wiped out. Suddenly you are the oldest of your generation. With the death of your last parent not only your childhood but also her childhood is wiped out.

She was a storyteller (like me) and I learnt a lot about what happened in the beginning of the 20th century. My mother was born in 1914, the beginning of the First World War. Her father was working at a famous Publisher in Leiden (Brill). He was a typesetter. He was fired when the economy collapsed (the Great Depression) and his family (four daughters) became very poor. His wife and children were forced to work in the houses of the rich people.

My mother did not finish school. I was her only child and she projected, like all parents, a better future in me. I was a bright person and I was stimulated to learn, learn, learn, read, read, and read. I am a product of her imagination.

My grandfather was a christian socialist. My mother was also a revolutionary person. She was a feminist. She believed in the equality of males and females. She was a pacifist.

I was not allowed to play with weapons. She opposed alcohol and I was not allowed to drink. She was also a Christian. She believed in “giving away everything to the poor” and she practised her faith al her live. I am a product of her ideals.

Later in life she became a very critical person. She gave away everything but nobody gave her back what she gave away. When she was old she was alone and she wanted (!) me to visit her. She even demanded this. In the end of her life she got dementia.

I tried to help her but I was unable to fulfill her dream. She wanted to live with me but this was impossible. I cried. I tried to find a solution. Many advisors visited and promised beautiful things.

Every time they did not keep their promises because there was a shortage in mental care for old people with dementia. I became very angry. I phoned, talked, send letters but nothing worked.

My mother and my father worked with numerous others to rebuild the Netherlands after the war. When she was old The Netherlands was a very rich country but the government was unable to take care of aged people.

Hahahaha Dadadada: About Childisch behavior and Decadence

This evening I talked with a friend of mine. He runs a business in Knowledge Management Tools. His brother-in-law is very rich and he was invited to visit him in Spain (Valentia). His brother-in-law owns six cars, a big house and a very expensive sailing ship but he is not able to sail.

My friend is an expert in sailing and he is helping his brother-in-law to sail his ship to Alicante. This weekend a huge sailing event is taking place. It is organized by Switzerland. They needed a sea so they made a deal with Spain.

Organizing the whole events costs 2.000.000.000 Euro (Tax money). To develop a sailing boat an investment of 20.000.000 Euro is necessary just to experiment. Building the ship costs much more (200.000.000 Euro).

Winning the race gives you status in the network of rich people. Larry Ellison the owner of Oracle is one of the persons who is investing billons just to win and another Russian billionaire is doing the same. Anderson made his money by creating and selling software to big companies and government agencies. The Russian billionaire just grabbed everything he could get in Russia. He not only owns a expensive ship but also the most important Soccerteam in Brittain (Chelsea).

Normal (poor) people can watch the race on television and rich people don’t even watch. They have their private parties and my friend is invited. I advised him to find somebody that would buy his environment just for fun.

His Sister-in-Law shows strange behavior. She is wasting enormous amounts of money (six cars) but she also looks at the small things. She is “pound foolish and pennywise”. Her main interest is faking the luggage system of the airplane. She does not want to pay more than the normal fair and she has developed numerous tricks to fake even the customs. She is an expert in smuggling. She acts like a big child and she does not knows she is playing with fire.

My friend is an analytic observer and he observes the same thing in government projects (also tax money). His tools are very cheap and very advanced (Open Source) but Government Agencies and especially Government Research Organizations are spending billions to create something that is already available for free.

Rich people don’t pay a lot of taxes. They pay advisors to find holes in laws and the advisors advise governments to create holes. If they don’t do that the rich people move to other places in the world. Switserland is the expert in “helping” rich people. Banks are doing everything you want to do secret things with your money.

Last night I was asked to help the sun of a friend. He was having troubles with mathematics. I am a mathematician. (Not) to my surprise I found out that his problem was not insight but just doing something at school. He was spending all his time with friends, making fun in school and he did not spend a minute to listen to the teacher or to read his book. I couldn’t do anything to help him.

My friend also wanted to talk about the “career” of his sun. He had to make a choice and after some debate I found out that he wanted to become a banker. I have worked for a bank and I explained him what bankers are doing. He wanted to work in the money-market. I told him economics or mathematics is needed. He understood that his behavior in school was not helpful. After some debate I found out that he did not want to become a real banker. Banking was about doing nothing, driving big cars, nice suits and having fun. He just wanted to be rich.Unfortunedly his father was not a rich person so the only thing that was left for him was to play the lottery.

What is happening?

What is happening is called decadence. We are so rich that we don’t know what to do with our wealth.

But we are also very stressed. Why? Because we are convinced we have to work to make money.

To employ people we give them fake-jobs. Many jobs are about advising the advisor. This is a well know play in the Netherlands. Behind every teacher (we have a shortage, it is not paying much) twenty people are advising. Behind every nurse (and we have a shortage, it is not paying much) there are twenty advising. And it goes on. There are advisor to advisor and at a certain point they create a loop. This loop causes complexity and we employ advisors to make it simple and a new complexity arises. In the end we don’t know what is happening, we get stressed and we employ advisors (ok I stop).

It’s like a strange dream and the dream can turn into a nightmare when the system collapses (and it is collapsing) and suddenly we don’t have enough electricity (Fall-outs happen) and the trains are not running (They do).and computer systems are going out of control (They do) The advisors know that the reason is complexity but they don’t know how to solve it.

Dada or Dadaism is a cultural movement that began in neutral Zurich, Switzerland during World Ware I and peaked from 1916 to 1920. The movement concentrated its anti-war politic through a rejection of the prevailing standards in art through anti art. The movement influenced later styles, movements, and groups including Surrealism, Pop Art and Fluxus.

The artists created art out of junk and shit and made a fool of the governing class. Surrealism uses the Dream World to show how the elite is behaving. The “leader” Andre Breton was trained in medicine and psychiatry. He used the psychoanalytic methods of Freud with soldiers who were shell-schocked. He admired anti-social attitudes and disdain for established artistic tradition. He hated them and wanted to show the fake and the nightmares of poor innocent people that were fighting a useless war that was all about Power and Status.

Now the rich persons are paying millions to buy a piece of shit of Dada.

Andre Breton is laughing in his grave and the rich people are laughing also because they also have fun.

Be Honest to Yourselve and Others

This afternoon an old friend of mine told me a funny story. He told me that he was treated by a doctor. As a child he could do all kind of tricks like getting out of his body and getting into others and explore them from the inside. He was lying on the coach and suddenly for fun he moved into the doctor and explored him. He found many interesting things about him and his patients. Suddenly he realized he was exploring a very private environment and moved out.

He did not tell me what he found out but let’s suppose he did and later by accident I found out that the doctor was a friend of a friend and for fun I told my friend what I knew and later he told his friend for fun what he heard. What am I trying to show here is that by accident and for fun we get to know a lot about others.

People (Yes Females and Males) are always gossiping so beware of the fact that if you have a secret in the end people will find out.

It is not necessary to use a paranormal ability. People talk, mail, chat, sms, write letters and everything you want to keep secret arrives at a certain moment at the wrong person by accident (Murphy’s law).

Modern technology is making it worse.

You are talking with a friend in the train using your mobile phone and you get into a very private conversation about a deal and you forget you are in the train. Just a few meters behind you somebody is listening and by accident he is of the competition. Bingo. He knows everything and two days later your world falls apart. They have taken it all. When I was driving to Brussels (I was doing lobbying for a big bank) I heard all the private conversations of politicians and their friends about what they were trying to accomplish.

You send a private email to a friend and he sends it to somebody else. Almost nobody uses the so called Internet Ettiquette. You put a very extensive text in your Email (“This message contains confidential information and is intended only for the individual named.”) to prevent this and the person who is sending it to somebody else does not know that he is liable for the consequence.

Or you are using Google Desktop and you don’t know that it is recording all your private chats with your lover and at a certain moment your wife wants to search something and she finds them.

Or worse imagine Google is storing your private chats on their computers and years later You Are Running For President and they phone you. You don’t need Google. All the data of the Internet is stored in the Internet Archive.

Or worse imagine A person called Hitler is taking over power and takes over the archives and you are arrested because you are a threat to them,

Or worse imagine somebody makes a mistake and you are selected as a possible terrorist and you behavior fits the profile and you are arrested and taken to Cuba and they use advanced techniques to find out what you were doing and to stop the pain you confess.

I think you got the message.

Now I want to get back to the beginning.

On April 28 2001 Commander L. R. Bremseth of the United States Navy wrote a private recommendation to the government. It’s called Unconventional Human Intelligence Support: Transcendent and Asymmetric Warfare Implications of Remote Viewing. The document can be found on the Internet.

A citation: “Concerned that a psychical (PSI) gap existed between U.S. and Soviet paranormal research efforts, the CIA sponsored discreet research into paranormal phenomena commencing in 1972. …..Over the succeeding twenty-three years, the U.S. military and intelligence services were actively involved in paranormal research and operations involving a process known as remote viewing. Remote viewing, which produced specialized human intelligence support, served as part of overall military and government organizations’ intelligence collection efforts“.

Remote viewing is what my friend did for fun (getting information by entering a person).

Commander L. R. Bremseth’s advice:

Establish a new, broad-based paranormal research program within a highly selective, military or intra-agency organization, employing the strictest screening procedures used by SRI, CIA, DIA and INSCOM in selecting/identifying remote viewing candidates and support personnel.

Model the new program from the best features of the remote viewing program, but do not limit research to remote viewing alone.

Explore a myriad of phenomena having potential military applications with the goal of developing transcendent and asymmetrical warfare approaches.

We are now 5 years later and research has advanced. I can imagine there must be transcendent wapensystems operational because research-companies like SRI need the money and researchers want to explore deeper and deeper into the human mind and even the human Soul..

Later they wake up (like Oppenheimer) and realize what they have given to the world. I can imagine that also!

Why Crazy people Always Win a War

In the New York Review of Books of this month (June 2007) Robert Cottrel reviews the book “A Russian Diary” by Anna Politkovskaya. She was a very famous Russian journalist who was assassinated October 2006 in Moskow.

Anna had the Guts to oppose Putin. The book is about him and the current situation in Russia. Robert Cottwel is very negative about the way the West is treating Russia. They need the oil and gas and don’t see that a possible world-wide war between Russia and the West is near.

The story about Russia is very frightening. Putin is a brilliant manipulator who is combining all his old skills (KGB), his almost total power and the underlying aggression in Russia to “Take Revenge”.

I want to focus on one aspect in this article. It is about Kayrov the President of Chechnya. He is appointed by Putin. Anna interviews him. She finds out that he is completely crazy. He loves to kill and torture and he is very open about that.

Later in the article we find a small poem that was published in Russian Newspapers. The poem is about taking over Estonia. This will be easy “Who in NATO cares? .. They are Cowards,… in the end we will strike and make a deal with those greedy pigs. Who will sell their mother for gas”.

With this in mind I thought about the Ethics of War.

Question 1: What is Ethics?

The definition of Ethics is simple: Things normal people don’t do in a normal situation. War is not normal so you would say ethics is not possible but soldiers are normal people that are trained to experience war as normal. Soldiers are tested and trained to behave normal. Crazy people are not hired. A soldier can become crazy because of the war-situation and kill and torture innocent people. We, in The West, are doing are utmost best to prevent this.

Question 2: What is Crazy (Not Normal)?

This question is easy to answer because craziness is like all diseases standardized by psychiatrist. It is just a matter of answering a few questions and the treatment and the pills comes out.

A theory that explains mental illness is called Interpersonal Theory (See Horowitz.L.M, (2003), Interpersonal Foundations of Psychopathology).

People interact and in the interaction they show expected behavior. If a person shows standardized behavior (he is not flexible) he is “MAD”.

An example of highly standardized not flexible behavior is Paranoid. People always react according to the same rules.

Crazy people are people that are like computers; they are programmed. They don’t see, feel, or hear the Other. They are alone in the universe. They love to kill and torture because they and not able to be empathic. They look at their victims and have fun. They hate their victims because they look like greedy pigs who will sell their mother for gas and they love their mother.

Why are the soldiers of NATO cowards? The answer is simple because they are normal and most of them are empathic. They flip when they realize what the others have done to their friends, their comrades.

Now I know why the story about Russia is frightening. Putin is mad. Perhaps he is even paranoid. He wants to restore the old Russian Empire. Like all his Predecessors.

He knows that the West is totally dependent on energy and he plays with them. He gives the greedy pigs the food they want. He knows they will negociate to keep their wealth.

What he does not realize is that in the West people can become crazy and some of them are in the Army. When they are brutallized till the end they flip and they will use non-normal highly destructive weapons. If this happens we are in Armageddon.

Perhaps we have a chance when we change our selection policy of soldiers and select real crazy people.

This will frighten Putin.

Catching the Light: About Steiner, Goethe and The Placebo Effect

When I was working at ABN-bank I was doing a project to reorganize the Archives of the bank. One of my colleagues was heavily inspired by the work of Rudolph Steiner. He was very busy to create a new type of bank based on his ideas (now The Triodos-Bank).

At the same time I met people that were practicing his ideas in the process of automation and organizational change processes. I loved what they were doing so I started to read his Books.

Steiner came back in my life when I wanted to know more about Colors. I bought the Color Theory of Goethe and I found out that Goethe was the person that inspired Steiner the most.

Goethe and Steiner became a force of Inspiration for Me and my Wife. She started to do Art-courses and I saw that she loved it. She even considered to become an Art-Therapist. We visited the Goetheaneum in Dornach (Zwitserland). We found an Antroposophic general practitioner. She uses Homeopathic medicine. I practiced Eurhythmics and lately I got a treatment to strengthen my “boundaries” where they use the Essential Oil of Flowers.

Arthur Zajonc is a well known Professor of Physics. He is also inspired by Rudolph Steiner and Goethe. Many people think the ideas of Steiner are weird and non-scientific but as you see even a professor of Physics knows that what he is saying to the world is of tremendous value.

Arthur Zajonc wrote a beautifull book called “Catching The Light”. The book tries to explain Light. It uses two perspectives. The perspective of Physics and the perspective of Steiner.

Zajonc shows that Science and Spirituality are basically telling the same story. Mind, Spirit and Soul are seeing the same thing but use different words to describe the same phenomenon.

The most interesting part of the book is about the Imagination. Experiments show that we don’t see with our eyes. We see the world through our Imagination.

Experiments in Physics show also that our Imagination (Our Creative Power) is controlling the Material world. Matter (Photons) is doing what the Imagination wants them it to do. We Get what we See.

Many people don’t understand the impact of this. They Think we are controlled by an outside Force (Fate) and they don’t realize that everything they are encountering in Life is created by Themselves. They don’t want to see that the Outside World is reflecting their personal creative process. If things go wrong they don’t realize that they want them to go wrong.

How can we make things go right? It’s simple. Imagine they are going right. Think positive.

Do you know why Medicine is working?

Because we Believe its Working.

About the Unconnected Child

cryingchild Humans are the most advanced toolmakers in nature. The main reason is that they are the less specialized organisms. They need tools to survive.

People are also the most complex organisms in nature. This complexity makes it possible to invent new possibilities and to work with specialized tools and animals (horse, cow, hammer, car, computer) and of course other humans.

To create new tools we use the sequence Copy, Experiment and Adjust. We use “What is available”, “Try things out” and and “Improve the Tool”. There is a Limit to the Process of Improvement. At a certain point in time the tool cannot be improved. The next step is that the tool is split up into an infrastructure and features. The featurers are again improved. A good example is the Car. Its Essential infrastructure is finished. All cars are “The Same Inside”.

Humans are great copiers and in childhood we copy the behaviour (the tools) of our parents.

A very sad situation is created when Our parents are not Connected. They are having arguments and conflicts. They are in competion and in competition there are a few Winners and many Losers.

The unconnected child operates from inner turmoil. Down deep this child feels something important is missing in his self and he is angry about it. This feeling may continue into adulthood. This void is likely to reveal itself as anger toward himself and parents, placing everyone at risk for becoming an angry family.

The connected child, growing up with a sense of well- being will get angry, but he learns to handle the anger in such a way that it does not take over his personality.

Connected parents know their children well, so they are less likely to create situations that provoke them and their children to anger. Attached parents know they don’t have to be harsh to be in control. They stimulate Experimentation and are happy when the child Adjusts its Behaviour. They are collaborating and know that the Playing the Infinite Game is much more important than Winning The Game.

When the unconnected child is an adult he will look at every situation out of an Unconnected Perspective. He will do everything to prevent that the people surrounding him will get out of connection. He will be a perfect peacemaker or coach.

But deep within he is unconnected to himself, his Essential Infrastructure. He will do everything to solve this and in the end he becomes a perfectionist demanding almost incomprehensible energies of himself to show that he is doing the right thing.

If this goes on the unconnected child will collapse. The Stress of demanding too much will take the body into a state of disconnection. First his body will generate Signals (Tired, Headache) but he will ignore them because he has to go on. If he ignores the signals the body will start to use its internal Resources to compensate. If these Resource are gone the body will be burnt-out and severe diseases will appear.

How can the unconnected child help himself?

The best way is to reverse in time and start all over again.

First disconnect with the parents that were disconnected.

Give their troubles back to them but with Love.

Then connect to the Child before it was Born and give it the Love it Deserves. After that the process of Copy, Experiment and Adjust can start but now he can Copy the Tools of people that are Playing the Infinite Game.

They know that The State of Perfection is never reached and new features will always be created.

Be your own Father and Mother and Love the Child Within.

Spirit and Soul: How the Soul was Wiped of the Earth

At the Rommelmarkt in Delft I bought the book Carl Jung and Soul Psychology.

In the book I found an article of James Hillman called Soul and Spirit. The article gave me a lof of insight so I started to look for James Hillman with Google.

I found the following: “Hillman’s 1997 book, The Soul’s Code: In Search of Character and Calling, outlines what he calls the acorn theory of the soul.

This theory states that each individual holds the potential for their unique possibilities inside themselves already, much as an acorn holds the pattern for an oak, invisible within itself.

It argues against the parental fallacy whereby our parents are seen as crucial in determining who we are by supplying us with genetic material and behavioral patterns.

Instead the book suggests for a reconnection with what is invisible within us, our daimon or acorn and its calling to the wider world of nature.

It argues against theories which attempt to map life into phases, suggesting that this is counter-productive and makes people feel like they are failing to live up to what is normal.

This in turn produces a truncated, normalized society of soulless mediocrity where evil is not allowed but injustice is everywhere—a society that cannot tolerate eccentricity or the further reaches of life experiences but sees them as illnesses to be prescriptive and argues against the idea of life-maps by which to try and grow properly.

Instead, Hillman suggests a reappraisal for each individual of their own childhood and present life to try and find their particular calling, the seed of their own acorn.

He replaces the notion of growing up, with the myth of growing down from the womb into a messy, confusing earthy world.

Hillman rejects formal logic in favour of reference to case histories of well known people and considers his arguments to be in line with the puer eternis or eternal youth whose brief burning existence could be seen in the work of romantic poets like Keats and Byron and in recently deceased young rock stars like Kurt Cobain.

Hillman also rejects causality as a defining framework and suggests in its place a shifting form of fate whereby events are not inevitable but bound to be expressed in some way dependent on the character of the soul in question”.

The citations speak for themselves.

What was my insight?

In the article Hillman shows the development of the symbol Soul.

Soul is an ambigouis concept because if it was a well defined concept it could not exist.

He showes that because of the process of definition the soul degenerated in time. The soul was wiped out of the Earth.

Soul is not a concept but a perspective, a mediator. Soul is a reflection of ourselves in streaming water. It deepens Events into experiences.The Soul is the creator of metaphor, dreams, images and fantasies.

How to Create a Good Will

Assagioli was a student of Sigmund Freud. He introduced Freud’s teachings to the medical fraternity in Venice in 1910. Assagioli saw that there was a need for something beyond analysis. This was the need for a person to become whole – to be united in synthesis.

His most famous book is The Act of Will. What follows is a long citation from Chapter 7, pages 85-90.

“Many attempts are being made to replace Competition with Cooperation, conflict with arbitration and agreement, based on an understanding of right relations between groups, classes, and nations.

All this is basically a question of WILLING.

The individual has to discipline itself and choose the aims which as are consistent with the welfare of others and the common good of humanity.

There are two methods of accomplishing this task:

(1): The elimination of Obstacles.

(2): The active development and expression of a Good Will.

Selfishness constitutes the fundamental obstacle. Selfishness springs from the desire to possess and to dominate, which is an expression of the basic urges of self-preservation and self-assertion.

Self-centeredness. While less obvious and crude than selfishness, it is also a great hindrance because of its tendency to refer everything to the personal self, to consider everything from the angle of one’s own personality, to concentrate solely on one’s own ideas and emotional reactions.

Lack of understanding. With understanding comes the abandonment of the inclination to criticize, to judge, to condemn. With understanding is born the recognition that an individual “Is As He Is,” and in a certain sense has the right to be what he is.

For he is the product of an enormous number of collective and individual elements rooted in the past and the present, and all kinds of conditioning over which he did not have control.

The individual is not fixed and immutable but is in a continual state of becoming.

Everyone can direct and regulate his own “becoming” process to a certain extent; thus comes into play the Responsibility he bears for the beneficent or harmful influence he has on other people”

The most important capability to create a Good Will is to become Vulnerable, to allow others to Affect us.

If we do this we will not dominate others and others are incapable of dominating us.

Slave and Master play a simple game, the game of Control and allowing Control.

If we become vulnerable we can play the most satisfying Game of Creation.

In the “The Erotic Mind” (Jack Morin) Sexuality is seen as a general human expression. Morin has developed an “Erotic Equation“: Attraction plus Obstacles Leads to Excitement.

Morin found out that sexual obstacles in one’s youth create lifelong scripts for arousal, while a range of feelings including anxiety and anger can intensify arousal.

Morin advises readers to confront the unresolved feelings that produce “troublesome turn-ons” and offers a guide to modifying or expanding one’s erotic patterns.

In long-term relationships, Morin observes, passion is always going away; he advises couples to recognize and address the interactive tension between Intimacy and Sexual Desire.

The most important transformations of feelings that have to occur to find Pleasure in Sexuality are: Anxiety -> Security, Weakness-> Strength, Guilt/Sin-> Freedom and Anger-> Appreciation.

The Erotic Equation shows a general pattern to become Excited.

To become enthusiastic we need an Obstacle to Take. We need a Resistance.

If Everything is Repeating we get Bored and loose our Passion. If we get bored we get into a state of trance and loose our Strength.

If there are no obstacles to take People are turned into Robots. Robots that are programmed to have sex or perform procedures according to the rules of the programmer. If this succeeds they can be removed and the Program takes over.

The Programmer can be found everywhere.

The first Programmers are our parents. They program their lost expectations. They didn’t make a career and we have to make a career. They didn’t go to University and we have to get a title and even better become a professor.

The second programming is done in School. Sexual Education kills the Art of Sex because we are told “How it Works”. First we have to fall in Love and later we get Children and we go on Loving each other.

We are not told that (Morin) passion is not something we get. We have to invest in Passion.

In the end couples get stuck because the Programmer has formulated the Rule that when we marry we have to stay together “to the end”.

The most effective programmer are the Media. Porno shows how (mostly males) have to perform (!).

The most successful shows and movies stimulate the Romantic Mind and mostly Girls start to believe that Getting Married and Having Children is the Rule.

How can we avoid to get Programmed?

It is easy.

Define an obstacle and start to remove it.

Climb the Hill, Smash the Wall and see the Beautiful Territory that is there to Discover.

But one thing is very important.

Find a partner to travel with. If he or she gives you deep trust which has passed the test of time, loyalty built on shared experience, mutual compassion, and the feeling of a safe haven in the face of life’s unpredictability, the Sky is The Limit.

If Partners avoid the pitfall of turning each other into Parental surrogates who alternate between offering Safety and Imposing Burdens, both can enjoy and savour the best what relationship has to offer.

Violence can be seen in every area of life.

We converted people to the Christian Faith of “Love thy Neighbor” with Violence.

We cure Diseases with Violence (Opening the Body, Taking Toxic medicine), we use Violence to create Food and now we even use Violence to Enforce (!) Peace (Afghanistan, Iraq).

Violence to enforce Peace is the last invention of what a friend of mine calls the Dark Dreamers.

Dark Dreamers are people that cannot handle Love and Compassion. They are afraid to Lose Control.

To Stay in Power they have to Suppress Others. To suppress others they need Violent People (Killers, Soldiers, Food for Cannons).

Violence is a reaction to suppression and the most effectual suppression is the suppression of sexuality.

In “The History of Sexuality“, Foucault states that Western Culture has long been fixated on Sexuality.

In China, Japan, India and the Roman Empire sexuality has been seen as an “Ars Erotica”, “Erotic Art“, a special experience.

Sexuality is something to Enjoy like good food, music and theater.

In Western Society something completely different has been created, “Scientia Sexualis“, the Science of Sexuality.

It is based on a phenomenon diametrically opposed to Ars Erotica: the Confession. The pleasure of Sexuality has to be confessed and examined in every detail to find the traces of SIN.

The confession of sin creates a power relation between preacher and confessant.

Foucault writes: “We are an extraordinarily confessing society. Confession has spread its effects far and wide: in the judicial system, in the army, in medicine, in pedagogy, in familial relations, in amorous relationships, in everyday life and in the most solemn rituals; crimes are confessed, sins are confessed, thoughts and desires are confessed, one’s past and one’s dreams are confessed, one’s childhood is confessed; one’s diseases and problems are confessed”.

The main focus of the confession was on regulating the sexuality of the married couple, ignoring other forms of sexual relations.

Therefore the body of women was sexualized because of its role as a child bearer.

The concept “hysteria” was invented and seen as a result of sexual problems.

To prevent that children experience sexuality as a pleasure parents are warned about the dangers inherent in masturbation and other sexuality.

The sexuality of adults becomes an object of study and all forms of “perverse” aberrations are seen as dangers.

Foucault emphasizes that the aim of these moral codes was not to abolish all forms of sexuality, but to protect health and the purity of the race.

What can we do to stop this violence?

Don’t Confess Anymore. Talk Freely about everything you Enjoy even Sexuality and consider life as a beautiful experience.

Make Love not War.

Leave the System of Violence and join The System of Love and Compassion.

If you want to bring Peace to the World go to the under-development countries and help to build Roads, Schools, and Houses.

The people over there are Not Violent (Remember this is the Message of the Mass Media) they want to Enjoy Life Like You.

The Sad (?) Insight of Ludwig Wittgenstein

In 1921 Wittgenstein thought that the Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus had solved all the problems of philosophy.

Later in his life (The Philosophical Investigations, published 1951) he came to the conclusion that he was utterly wrong.

He found out that language itself is the problem.

Language is woven into the fabric of life, and as part of that fabric it works relatively unproblematically.

Philosophical problems arise when language is forced into an abstract environment, where all the familiar and necessary landmarks and contextual clues are absent. The tragedy is that almost nobody understood Wittgenstein at that time.

One of his students in Cambrigde when he still believed in abstraction was Alan Turing. He invented the Turing Machine, one of the foundations of computers and computer languages.

Computer Languages and everything created by a Computer Languages suffers the Problem Wittgenstein identified.

I was a witness to an important part of the history of computing. I was responsible for many what I now would call abstraction-projects.

I have been extremely busy with the creation of E-Learning, Knowledge-Management, Centers of Expertise, Educational Games based on Story Telling etc.

They all failed in the end but the creation-process was fun.

One of the inspiring persons I spoke was Mr. Ikujiro Nonaka. His book The Knowledge-Creating Company was just published.

He showed that knowledge could be divided into formal (again abstract) and informal knowledge.

He defined a 2X2 matrix of the knowledge-tranfer process.

The most difficult of course was the transfer of informal-informal knowledge.

My big mistake was to believe that informal/informal knowledge-tranfer could be supported by a Computer System.

The Computer System itself is formalizing everything. Many years later (about 5 years ago) I came to the same (sad?) conclusion as Wittgenstein (and Bahktin).

What can we do? The only way to transfer “knowledge” is to talk person-to-person in a secure environment.

Some people will understand each other and become friends. They are a small Centre of Expertise.

Many people will think(!) they understand the other. They will go their own way until they realize, perhaps when they are 56 (like me), that in the end your mostly wrong and sometimes right.

Keep meeting and talking! And realize The Creation Process is always Fun.

A friend gave me the Dutch translation of the Zhuang Zi (translated by Kristofer Schipper) for my birthday. In the cover we read “The classic book about Taoism”. Trying to be with the Tao is something I strive for all my life. Getting to know Chinese philosophy started when I was about twenty.

I discovered the I Tjing (and of course Jung) and started to read.

My first manager at ABN was an old Colonel of the Intelligence and he taught me everything about Tzun Zu. Tzun Zu is about fighting a war without fighting. Let your opponent waste his energy until he destroys himself.

I always believed that most of the time you have to do nothing because things go their way (this is called Wu-Wei). I could manage many people and huge projects without spending much time. At a certain moment in time (called the Magic Moment) there is a fork (Chaos Theory) and a choice can be made. The fork can be felt. It feels like there is a lot of flux (Something is coming on don’t know what it is but it’s getting stronger (Blood, Sweat & Tears)).

Clever Managers don’t do anything (they delegate) and only act at the Magic Moment.

When I encountered the Unknown the Zhuang Zi opened itself to me. I understood what was told and what was meant by The Dawn, The Centre, The Loner and The Light.

The message of the Zhuang Zi is very simple and very complex. It is simple if you experience or want to experience the Unknown.

It is utterly incomprehensible when you are still Thinking.

Here are some citations (Translated out of the Dutch text, sorry) that could be helpfull to get out of Thinking.

“Without the Other there is no I and without the I we can’t see a difference”. Every Other is a Mirror. In this Mirror we project Our Self.

“From the moment we have received our body we keep waiting for the moment that we die”. The Fear of Dying is prohibiting us to Live.

“Speaking is not blowing air. People that utter words say something. But what they are saying is changing all the time”. Theories are constantly changing because Words are unable to express What IS. When we become Silent (“Meditate”, “Reflect”) we know everything because there not much we have to know.

“Every creature is “the other” for “the other” and every creature is Yourself for Yourself”. You are the Source of Everything.

“If you take the perspective of the Other you can’t see Yourself”. Don’t look Outside. Look Inside. Everything that is Outside can be found Inside.

“The Other emanates out of Yourself and Yourself depends on the Other”

This is the Law of Complementary Opposites. Just as Life produces Death and Death produces Life and Wrong produces Right and Right produces Wrong. There is no Right and Wrong. They are the sides of the same Coin but we are unable to see the Coin. We are constantly flipping from one side to the other side.

“If this is true, is there really “The other” and “Yourself”?

“If we merge the Two we enter in the Centre of the Wheel (The Tao)”.

“In the Centre there is no movement”.

“We come to rest and live in the Light”.

The Only thing we have to do is to Stay and Act out of our Centre, The Heart.

I will tell you a little secret.

The Zhuang Zi contains many references to an old civilization called MU. In the City of Xian (mentioned in the Zhuang Zi) the Chinese have for a long time hided a White Pyramid that contains the same pictures as the famous Pyramids of the Mayas.

Stop, Watch and Go on

I am re-reading The Gurdjieff Work of Kathleen Speeth.

Gurdjieff was a Greek-Arminian mystic and a spiritual teacher that lived between 1872 and 1949.

He combined the teachings of the Esoteric Christian tradition of the Essenes, The Naqshbandi Sufi Order and Tibetan Buddhism.

His most famous statement is that most people live in a state of “waking sleep“.

He has defined a system to get fully awake.One of his exercises is the Stop Exercise.

The Stop Exercise is very simple. Somebody calls “Stop” and you stop immediately. The Stop Exercise shows the pattern you are in. The Stop Exercise can be applied to many area’s.

For instance:

Leave your lover and see what happens with him or her or

Don’t go to work and see if things go on the way they did.

If nothing changes don’t go back because you are just not needed. Find something else where a Stop matters.

The Stop Exercise can be compared with what is know in Signal Theory as the Delta Pulse. The Delta Pulse is an Event that occurs in a very short time with a very high intensity. A good example is the use of Explosives to find out what is inside the Earth (Oil, Gas, ). It is shown that a Delta Pulse shows the Essence of a System and the Essence of the Human System was exactly what Gurdjieff wanted accomplish.

Many people think that The Essence of a human being is perfection but it is sadly the opposite. Perfection is a part of the personality. It wants to stay tuned to its environment. The Essence is just “What it is” and “What it is” can be very annoying to people that are striving for perfection. Essential People can be very brute.

In the The Law of Seven Gurdjieff explains processes. It states that ups and downs in life and relationships occur lawfully. At certain steps (every 3) schocks (or stops) occur. If nobody does anything the process simply stops. To move on people have to invest time and motiviation to remove the hurdel. A very high hurdel is the 7th step. The System has gone full cycle and has the ability to jump to higher level or the System breaks down. The Seven Years Itch is shown in all types of relationships (marriage, company,..). It is the final test for endurance.

What can we learn: It is wise to stop for a while and see what happens. If everything goes on don’t go back. If a process stops it is wise to find out if it is 3th step. If so put all your efforts in removing the hurdle and things will go on for three steps.

How to Manipulate Almost Everybody

I have always been fascinated with the process of MANIPULATION. The main reason is that I don’t want to be manipulated and if you know how it works you can prevent yourself.

The New York Review of Books (May 31, 2007) contains an article by Michael Tomasky called How Democrats Should Talk. It reviews many books about Mass Manipulation of the Government.

His analysis of the Democrats is highly to the point. Their failure is that they still believe in the Rational Mind and Ethics. The Republicans use their Rational Mind to stay in Power and use Emotional techniques to do so. They are the followers of Machiavelli.

It is easy to manipulate people if they are in a state of trance.

It is well know that looking at a TV or Movie brings you in a trance-state in a few seconds.

In the trance-state there is direct contact with the unconsciousness (I call this the Unknown).

In a trance-state you can give “commands” or “subluminal messages” and people start to act according to these commands. Many people live permanent in a trance-state (called dissociation).

The most important issue is “the message”. It has to be simple and resonate to a state of the unconsciousness.

The simplest states that can be brought into resonation are FEAR AND DESIRE. Desire is related to having Sex (Male) and the Reproduction Process (Female).

Activating the Fear to loose a Secure state always works. So combine the FEAR to loose your Home, your Job (depreving you of Desire and Security), your Life (Getting Sick), your Self (becoming Crazy), your Love (Becoming Alone), your Children or your Home-land and combine it with an ACTOR (Jews, Bin Laden) that will do this and many people change from loving persons into killer machines.

Now we are still talking about simple things. Believe me all the simple things are used by the people that are not ethical or (the same) practical. Being practical and skipping ethics for one moment is worse than being not ethical.

There are very advanced techniques that are not discussed in the New York Review of Books because they are part of the US Media (!)). Believe me what is possible is beyond your imagination.

It is well known that the Russians and the Americans have spent billions to research the Para-Normal. They know that the Para-Normal is Normal but tell the public that it is not-Normal to prevent that everybody finds out have How Bad they Really Are.

An advanced psychic can penetrate the mind of a person and manipulate the mind. Ethical psychics don’t do that. They want to have consent of their “patient”. More effective techniqs have to do with the use of frequencies (Radio etc) that resonate with many people. Just put on the fear-signal (low frequency) and people feel agitated.

How can you prevent yourself from being manipulated. The most simple answer is STAY OUT OF TRANCE (be Aware, In the Now) and protect your mind from manipulation on a distance. Think for yourself. Make your own analysis of what is happening.

Most important is to keep contact with Mother Earth when you are Awake and shield yourself with the Love of The Light.

How to Remove The Mask We are Waring

Last night I had a discussion. Somebody asked me the question: Do you love yourselve? I could not answer this question.

On the rational level I don’t know what “love” and “yourselve” is. Lets try do define something. To define something I always use the website

The website defines the term “love” in the following way: O.E. lufu “love, affection, friendliness,” from P.Gmc. *lubo (cf. O.Fris. liaf, Ger. lieb, Goth. liufs “dear, beloved;” not found elsewhere as a noun, except O.H.G. luba, Ger. Liebe), from PIE *leubh- “to care, desire, love” (cf. L. lubet, later libet “pleases;” Skt. lubhyati “desires;” O.C.S. l’ubu “dear, beloved;” Lith. liaupse “song of praise”). Meaning “a beloved person” is from c.1225. The sense “no score” (in tennis, etc.) is 1742, from the notion of “playing for love,” i.e. “for nothing” (1678). Love-letter is attested from c.1240; love-song from c.1310. To be in love with (someone) is from 1508. Love life “one’s collective amorous activities” is from 1919, originally a term in psychological jargon. To make it simple lets take the meaning “to care”.

So we can rephrase the question as “Do take care of yourselve” and now the answer is simple “Yes, I try to do this”.

We can make it more complex by defining the term “self”.

The website defines it as “O.E. self, seolf, sylf “one’s own person, same,” from P.Gmc. *selbaz (cf. O.N. sjalfr, O.Fris. self, Du. zelf, O.H.G. selb, Ger. selbst, Goth. silba), P.Gmc. *selbaz, from PIE *sel-bho-, from base *s(w)e- “separate, apart” (see idiom).

To make it simple again we use the meaning “one owns person”.

So we can rephares the question again in “do you take care of your own person”.

Wauw now it becomes complex. What the hell is person?

Ok again we define the term: c.1225, from O.Fr. persone “human being” (12c., Fr. personne), from L. persona “human being,” originally “character in a drama, mask,” possibly borrowed from Etruscan phersu “mask.” This may be related to Gk. Persephone. The use of -person to replace -man in compounds and avoid alleged sexist connotations is first recorded 1971 (in chairperson). Personify first recorded 1727. Personable “pleasing in one’s person” is first attested c.1430. In person “by bodily presence” is from 1568. Person-to-person first recorded 1919, originally of telephone calls.

A person is a “character in a drama, a mask”.

So we come back with a new question “do you take care of your own mask” or “do you take care of the mask you are waring called self?”

Now we are getting somewhere.

We are all actors in a play and in this play and she wanted to find out if I was able to play the role of “a self” who is caring for “itself”.

In the play there are two actors “self” and “self” who are caring for eachother.

Next question. Who is watching the play (the observer)?

Again the answer could me “the self”.

So “self and self are caring for eachother and are also watching the process of caring.

Is this possible?

Now I want to direct you to a document I have written (sorry in Dutch) about thinking.

In Chapter 2 I cite Bakhtin (my favorite philosopher)).

Here are some of his insights. They speak for themselves.

‘All our dialogues are taking place against the background of the responsive understanding of an invisibly present third party who stands above all the participants in the dialogue… The aforementioned third party is not any mystical or metaphysical being (“although, given a certain understanding of the world, he can be expressed as such) – he is a constitutive aspect of the whole utterance, who, under deeper analysis, can be revealed in it. In our dialogical relations something absolutely new appears here: the supraperson, the supra-I, that is, the witness and the judge of the whole human being, of the whole I, and consequently someone who is no longer the person, no longer the I, but the other’

“The word in language is half someone else’s. It becomes “one’s own” only when the speaker populates it with his own intention, his own accent, when he appropriates the word, adapting it to his own semantic and expressive intention. Prior to this moment of appropriation, the word does not exist in a neutral and impersonal language. . . but rather it exists in other people’s mouths, in other people’s contexts, serving other people’s intentions: it is from there that one must take the word, and make it one’s own”

My conclusion: The question cannot be answered because “love” and “self” are codes and to answer the question we have to explain a unique highly complex emotional context that is changing all the time.

We cannot code this context in a few words.

We need an infinite amount of words most of them never invented to explain a little detail of what “I am”.

I end with a statement of Goethe (another favorite of mine and Bahktin): “The highest thing would be to comprehend that everything factual is already theory. The blue of the heavens reveals to us the fundamental law of chromatics. One should only not see anything further behind the phenomena: they themselves are the theory”

I am what I am and it is what it is.

Whats wrong with doctors

Last night I read an article in the New York Review of Books (May 31, 2007). The article is called What’s Wrong with Doctors (written by Jerome Groopman, a cancer specialist). The article (and the book) is about the current Medical System. It shows everything that is wrong with this system.

The most important problem, according to Groopman, is that doctors Think. This problem is enforced by the fact that they don’t take the time to listen to themselves (introspection) and their patients. The doctor is acting as a “Rule-Based”-system that acts on the variables that are put into the system. He sees what he wants to see because his focus is on “fast delivery” of a solution. The patient is not important. He or she is just “a mean to an end” and the mean is making a lot of money in short time (“efficiency”) and/or achieving status.

Groopman attacks “Evidence Based Medicine”. This approach is based on statistics. The whole problem with statistics is comparable to the “rule-based-system”-approach. Again statistics just shows what you want to see. Statistics is a method to find patterns but the problem with patterns is that there is an infinite amount of patterns possible in every situation. In statistics you have to choose a “pattern-type” (for instance the pattern is linear) otherwise the whole approach is not working.

Groopman shows that statistics make doctors lazy. They trust somebody else (the bright guys) and don’t think for themselves anymore. Doctors have to be “lazy-thinkers” because they don’t have the time to think because they have to produce fast-solution. So the problem is not that they are thinking but the real problem is that they are not thinking at all. They are acting as robots.

The pharmaceutical industry helps doctors to deliver fast solutions. They provide super-pills that solve everything. They provide doctors directly with corrupted information about the huge statistical effects of their inventions. To make the doctors happy they also provide them with gifts (luxury tours disguised in a conference).

The above is just the start of the attack on the medical system. Groopman digs deeper and shows that the fundamental problem is that we cannot fully understand the context of the patient. Everybody patient is unique and has a unique solution that brings him in balance.

Groopman shows that knowledge (thinking again) is a big burden to understand a context. Knowledge acts as a filter. Knowledge shows just what it knows. This problem is related to the doctor and the patient. Both know something (I’m having a problem, I can solve the problem) but their “knowing” shields the real context.

How can we ever solve this problem? The solution is really very simple. We can solve the problem by “not-thinking”. If we are “not-thinking” we know everything. Deep within us (in the great unknown) lays the solution waiting. We don’t want to know this solution because it will destroy our patterns and patterns are what make us feel comfortable.

The patient knows the solution already and wants conformation from a loving and caring person who gives him the confidence that his process of change will get him in a new balance.

The best caretakers are not found in the medical system. They are good friends or people with the gift of healing that can support the person to make the “unknown” know.
